I believe there is also a hammered dulcimer that comes in for the second verse of Less than You Think.
edit: Actually, according to the liner notes, there is also one used in Hummingbird and The Late Greats. huh.

I was glad to see a Carol Burnett bit on the list. That gal (and cast) had some funny stuff.

I'm sorry, I didn't even see your post. I was just making a general statement. But I'm sure the show will surface eventually. They probably have to edit out my misplaced e minor and/or any unintentional singing I may have peed into the feed.
I'd prefer the un-edited version. Looking forward to the Pieholden duet...

That's good to know.

be patient, it just happened saturday.
Happily patient... just wasn't sure if it would be made public or if I was going to have to bribe/threaten an actual attendee. Thanks.

Does the audio for this typically show up on etree, or is there some other way that us less fortunate souls can get a copy? Thanks,
-
I have a copy of Talking Heads' Speaking in Tongues pressed on clear vinyl. Somewhere around here...

UNC women beat Louisville tonight, too. Kinda weird.
-
alas....
anybody know when was the last time that all 4 #1 seeds made it to the final four? looks like a possibility this time.

Seriously, is this most boring tournament ever?
Getting better?

used to love him. now we him. but the dude can coach.

Xavier / UCLA was not the game I was hoping it would be. Although that run by UCLA in the 2nd half was pretty impressive.
Pitino's teams always seem to have a run in the 2nd half when they need it - just not sure UNC will allow that to happen tonight. They're still hanging around tho.
-
I gotta admit, Pitino has those kids playing well right now. Should be a great game. And I still like Xavier over UCLA.
-
I'm hoping for the opposite. I loathe Michigan State.
I feel the same way about Pitino. Last night was the first time IN MY LIFE that I ever rooted for Tenn. And now I have to cheer for UNC.... bleah. At least it's not Duke. That would be the mother of all 'llemas. A dreadful proposition.

Some great games last night. I'm not as excited about tonight's, although hopefully I can stay awake and watch the Memphis / Mich St game.

Great game, great comeback.
Western Ky looks a little starstruck early on, but just down 3 after 5 mins. Hope they can settle in and play well enough to make a run at UCLA. UL looks tough so far.

BUMP! The madness continues!
WVA and Xavier at 7:10, and then WKU/UCLA and UL/UT for the second game.
I think that our local CBS station will somehow magically show both of those second games - one on the regular channel and one on the "other" channel that they somehow tuck into the digital deadspace between things on cable. It sounded complicated when someone tried to explain it, but I will be happy to just enjoy the magic of technology and partake of them both.
Doubt we'll have any upsets tonight. The UL/UT game can't be an upset, imo. Too close to call.
I read where the mayor of Louisville sent a box of Ky bourbon to the mayor of Knoxville. Said it will help soothe their "sunken spirits" when they lose. Also sent one to Chapel Hill since the UL women's team plays UNC on Saturday. Same card... gotta love this time of year.

"Good Girls Don't" hit #11 in the U.S.
I really hope you had to look that up...

The poster child for one hit wonders has to be The Knack's My Sharona. I mean, those guys were supposed to be bigger than The Beatles. It was nuts. For about a month, anyway...

Strictly from Rob Reiner movies:
"Anybody want a peanut?"
-Fezzig (Andre the Giant) in The Princess Bride
"My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."
-Inigo Montoya (Mandy Patankin), also in The Princess Bride
Yeah, that's a great movie. "Inconceivable!" is still a word that in our house can only be said that one certain way (defiant, with just a little bit of spit). And will usually get the "I do not think that word means what you think that it means" Montoya response.

"Half of it's you, half is me
Half of it's you, half is me"
That part reminds me of something Jeff said in an interview where music (or art of any form) is half what the artist intended, and half what the listener/viewer interprets it as. What you as the listener does with the song is half the art. The "meaning" of a song depends half on the listener; it's half a blank canvas. I liked that part.
Also, the "sun gets passed, sea to sea" to me sounds like days / time going by.

I think we had fun with this about a year ago, but my favorite two are :
"What would you do with a brain if you had one?" (Wizard of Oz, also overheard on a random wiretap on Washington, DC)
"Put... zee candle... back" (Young Frankenstein)

They're used a lot in Appalachian folk music, so they're common in my neck of the woods. Great sound; often used solo. You play them by hitting the strings with those sticks that look like flat wooden spoons witha bouncy motion. Looks hard to me, but I don't play anything so it all looks hard. We have a "regular" dulcimer at our house which is played more like a strummed lap guitar and sounds more like a mandolin or normal string instrument. The hammered dulcimer sounds like a tinny piano crossed with a steel drum, imo.
