If Halycon Digest is the first Deerhunter you've bought since Crpytograms, you HAVE to check out the Microcastle/Weird Era double disc from 2008. It is amazing and definitely the highlight of Deerhunter's catalog so far. Was my #1 album of 2008.

Loved a lot of records this year but thought two stand head and shoulders above the rest: Beach House - Teen Dream Kanye West - My Dark Twised Fantasy And these two couldn't be more more wildly different from each other.

Mulholland Dr was my favorite film of the 00s and nothing else was even close. You REALLY have to see it twice to get a sense of what Lynch is trying to do. Impossible to fully appreciate on first viewing. To borrow a baseball analogy, Lynch consistenly swings for the fences every single time out and I really appreciate that from a creative and artistic standpoint. Now he might swing and miss sometimes, but when he connects it's a thing of beauty...like Mulholland. I could watch it once a year and be entranced every single time. I had the good fortune to catch the INLAND EMPIRE debut in

My flawless list: The Cure - Distentegration My Bloody Valentine - Loveless (took me a very long time to get into this album, but once you get IN you can't get out) Broken Social Scene - You Forgot It in People Radiohead - The Bends Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago Guns N Roses - Appetite for Destruction

Extremely hard to pick just one but if I had to..... Small Stakes

Hello Everyone - I'm not sure if I'm posting this on the correct forum or not but please bear with me. I am looking to purchase the following poster if possible: Wilco at Auditorium Theatre, November 2006. http://www.gigposters.com/poster/74032_Wilco.html I can't seem to find it online anywhere and I know its no longer available on wilco's site or the artists. Would anyone know of any additional place to check? Would any members be willing to sell? Would offer $75 plus shipping. Again, sorry if in wrong forum, wasn't sure where to post this one. Thanks in advance!

I seriously doubt Cheney felt that way after this interview from Sept 2006. Russert destroys him. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14720480/

You shouldn't live it down, that was a catastrophic mistake!

You Forgot It In People is a masterpiece. Start there. Believe Feist only sings on Almost Crimes and Shampoo Suicide but that won't prevent you from digging this album.

Did anyone see them open their show at Otto's in Dekalb a few years back with this? It was before Ghost even came out. My god, it was probably the greatest opening track of a concert I've ever seen. It opens so quiet....then BOOM!! It hits you like a sledgehammer...one of my all time favorite live songs for any band.

"Knocked Up" is a monster, wow. What a way to open an album.

Bright Eyes is the homeless man's Elliott Smith. (I'm skipping over poor man)

Damn, have been gone on vacation so totally missed the boat on the listening party. Im insanely jealous. Would be much appreciative of a PM. Thanks in advance if possible. Edit: Thanks for the response, Much appreciated. I just cracked open my first beer and can't wait to listen to SBS for next hour. Cheers my friend.

I thought Win and his bro were American, but the rest of the band Canadian? Could be wrong. Can't wait for Neon Bible.
-
Scored some some good seats on the main floor for Friday night. Can't wait, this has "show of the year" potential.
-
Thanks everyone for the response. Definitely gives me a better feel for what to expect going in. Pitchfork is hosting a party at Emo's Friday w/Peter, Bjorn, and John, RJD2, and Girl Talk. I'm for sure hitting that. Other than that, I'm pretty wide open. I've decided not to get too set on seeing one show in particular and just goin w/the flow. Should be a great week, can't wait. Thanks again.

I'll be attending SXSW for the first time in a couple of weeks. Anyone have any tips for a first timer? I'll have a wristband but not the VIP pass or badge. I'm curious about how easy it is to attend various shows, how early I should plan on getting in line for bigger acts, (IE - Kings of Leon at Stubb's )etc. Basically just looking to get a feel for the best overall strategy. Thanks in advance.

Shadow is pretty solid live. His show relies a lot on visuals though so not sure how'd that translate in an outdoor festival environment. If they had him playing at night in a tent or something it would be ideal for him.

Chicago Theater is smaller and far superior in my opinion.
-
Disintegration - The Cure The perfect soundtrack for a snowstorm for my fellow Chicagoans and those out East. An epic, mesmerizing album.
-
Under Pressure - Queen n Bowie
-
Kotche is the best drummer I've ever seen live, hands down.
-
Dark, but brilliant... "I dreamed about killing you again last night, And it felt alright to me"
-
They are all brilliant. If I had to choose one though, XO. Either/Or is 2nd.
