Get Safety of Objects next. And if you're not easily offended, The End of Alice.

I rented two DVDs today, Running With Scissors and Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man. Which should I watch first? (Assuming I'll probably get around to watching only one of them anyway.) I also saw (courtesy of HBO on demand) Spike Lee's When the Levees Broke. Really excellent documentary.

What many units does a DVD have to move to be gold?

Shared a cigarette for breakfast, Shared an airplane ride for lunch. Sitting in between a ghost, And a walking bowl of punch. Can you play a little hunch? Predicting a delay in landing. Well I predict we'll have a drink. Lost my money on the first hand, Got burned on a big fat king. And your ears are gonna ring. And your eyes just won't close. Nothing changes I suppose. It's too late to turn back here we go! Portland, oh no. It's too late to turn back here we go! Portland, oh no. We'll wait away the raindrops. Look out boy you'll catch cold. Serving boy can chain nothing, That ain't

I don't care as long as those artists are being paid. I think of it as a day job. If you were in a marginally selling band, and someone offered you a fairly large sum of money for a piece of one of your songs, wouldn't you take it?

When I got home I think it was in the high teens, maybe less, which is still warmer than a lot of you guys, but St. Louis winters are supposed to be mild to unseasonally warm. It's snowing now, just to add to my misery.

I tried to do a music site for a while, but unless you have a podcast or are giving away free downloads, no one really cares.

I like Grapefruit flavored -- I know that's not a choice, and frankly I don't know anyone else who likes the grapefruit flavored sunkist (or whatever those big chewy dics are called). It's the white one. And usually there are only two or three per bag. I've never tried, nor will I ever try, those Bernie Botts vomit-flavored jelly beans, but I know people who have and say they do taste exactly like vomit.

Largehearted Boy puts up lots of links to MP3s, plus interviews and whatnot.

I have Sid and Nancy on an old VHS tape with Fugazi's Intsrument. (Thank you Sundance.0 Recs? Born Into This, the Bukowski documentary. Sarah Silverman's Jesus is Magic The Last Broadcast. (Think of it as a hipper, unknown, proto-Blair Witch.) Running With Scissors comes out next week, I think. I haven't seen the movie (actually, most people said it kind of blows), but I can't recommend the book enough.

This is painfully obvious, I know, but how about "I Want You to Want Me?"
-
Damn. This won't be officially released until March. How did you get an early copy? Are you in the publishing industry? (I read a little of the Amazon description, and I'm a little leary. I have no middle ground when it comes to books about rock bands.)

KDHX plays Wilco frequently. (Plus a load of other good stuff.) Back in the A.M. days, I swear K-SHE (stoner-rock, AOR station) played a few songs.

Oh lord yes. Berlin is harrowing (to borrow a tired old rock critic cliche). I like "The Bed" with Cat Power's "Colors and the Kids" following it -- mixtape-wise.

Mostly, the problem I have with Eggers is that he's sarcastic to the point that I cannot feel empathy for him, even when I want to. I tried to read Heartbreaking Work... multiple times, and I couldn't get past the first thirty pages or so.

(Note to self: Do not go on a Dave Eggers rant. It got up into a heap of touble some other place. Be nice.) Just started this this morning: Not too sure yet.

I won't be happy until I lose my legs (Guardian article)

It's not. I think it has more to do with what can, or will, be used as fodder to sell newspapers. There's not much left to shock people. I watched a documentary on the same thing about three or four years ago: people compelled to chop off a limb. I'm gonna guess it was the Discovery Health Channel (if your cable system has it, browse through the programs, The titles alone are worth a look). -
I haven't download them yet, but I will try to get to it this weekend or whenever I can mooch some WiFi time.

Special K Protien Water. It tastes like thick lemonade. Sort of. Not really. (But I bet I can bench press you now.)

I rented The Night Listener today; finally out on DVD. Haven't watched it yet, but I loved the book (which usually means the movie will suck donkey balls in hell). There's a Sally Mann documentary on (I think) Cinemax tonight. There are more than a few photogs here, in case some of you guys are fans of her work. I almost picked this up.

Sorry, I know this looks as though I'm using this thread as my own, personal pimpfest (and I haven't even gotten the new poster smell off me), but for anyone interested, here's my homemade "messy border" template in action: The film's been cross-processed, too, hence the whacked-out colors.
