  1. we have without a doubt already established the fact that austin is the center of the universe i think that discussion might be better served in a different forum but i was wondering if you had ever heard of releasing tickets day of show or at least closer to the actual show date? maybe they don't do that in austin, i don't know.
  2. Thanks. I didn't figure anyone was catching it. I guess I should have used a smiley or something. I was basically just commenting on the pretty consistent attitude I get from 'native' Texans and as far as the Austin, Dallas, Houston thing I really think it's kinda funny. cheers, b
  3. i don't think it matters where you live in texas, there seems to be a superiority complex towards anywhere else in TX, the US and beyond. me, i am kinda partial to Cut and Shoot. b
  4. you are correct that the pavilion shows outside HAVE to end by 11:00 or fines are incurred. Neil Young is the only I one that I personally know of that passed the cutoff point. the bars/clubs usually don't even start the headliner until 10:00-11:00 but i don't know if it is official or just voluntary but the verizon theater seems to adhere to the 11:00 shutdown time. b
  5. if you are interested you could add centro-matic and south san gabriel on saturday in dallas and make it a trifecta/hat trick b
  6. the music today presale tix were GA which is the floor. I then bought 2 through T-master for the reserved balcony and got rid of my GA's "Thank you for purchasing tickets and choosing TicketFast
  7. get 'em while they're hot. cheers, b
  8. my wife and i also will be there. sec 202 row b seats 5-6. can't wait
  9. i just wish they would start at 7:00 or 7:30 so we could at least have the possibility ,however remote, that they would play a 3 hour show. i really dislike that 11:00 curfew crap. either way, with the horns and the kind of setlists and the video operations it should be 1 heckuva time. cheers, b
  10. based upon your avatar i would say compare it to 'porch' circa '92-'95 cheers, b
  11. i know it's bad form to double post but this thread makes me think of an incident that involves the grateful dead and their song 'wharf rat'. (no dirty hippie jokes, ok?) i once collected all of the taped versions that i could find and filled up 7 cd's with nothing but 'wharf rat'. some say i'm a little bit, uhhh, compulsive. i don't really get it, but......... it also is a good case for the internet live music archive. very easy to download just 1 song from a show. cheers, b

  13. is this the one with the slotted head stock? b
  14. All it would take is for someone with the last 3 shows in flac format (should be quite a few of these out there) and access to an ftp site to upload the shows, post a link with username and password info and we're off. I would think in a community as plugged in and diverse as this we could get it to happen. Work hates on torrents too........ b
  15. i think we need to get someone with a good script of ritalin or adderall ?sp? to clean this whole situation up. i'm appalled at the lack of planning and organization that has been going on here this last week. ya'll act like you've been overly excited about something. cheers, b
  16. uhmm. yeah we've been 'remotely' tuned in. listening to the first 2 nites as i type. if you actually click on through you might find out that the houston show is in fact sold out. i'm guessin' they've been too busy to update the website lately. something about some 'residency' thing. we don't get much news here in the south ya know unless the am radio is tuned just right. i do also realize that all the coolest people in the world must live in chicago where you have the greatest music scene, the greatest pizza, the greatest hot dogs, the greatest burritos etc. etc. cheers, b
  17. Just wanted to thank the people involved in getting the shows up on the ftp site. and for what it's worth the flac's sound better on winamp than the mp3's on window's media player. are the other 3 nights going to go onto the ftp site also? if not, let me say again that i think the residency is a prime candidate for the owl and bear site. cheers, b
  18. what centro-matic are you listening to? i just sent some to my cousin to introduce her to the band and i went with 'navigational' and 'love you just the same'. i think these are 2 of the 'easiest' to get into. will's other band 'south san gabriel' might interest you more. give 'welcome, convalescence' a try there. mmj - go see them live. i'd be surprised if you didn't get into them after that. also, in my opinion, their latest cd 'Z' is a really tough one to start with. 'at dawn' or 'it still moves' might work better. and then, you might never like them. and that is cool too. i can't tell
  19. and i don't know how i left it out, but yo la tengo opening for mmj. john doe for wilco. can't remember a better run in my lifetime. b
  20. south san gabriel opening for centro-matic at the granada theater in dallas on saturday 3/8. b
  21. thanks for the mp3's. they have their place as do flac's. can't we all just get along? cheers, b
  22. This has got to be a gift from God. Within the space of 4 days I am going to see the 4 bands I would put on a list of my top 5 to see. I've seen wilco several times, centro once and mmj once. But all of it in 4 days together. Anybody else in the Houston area doing this next month? cheers, b
  23. what ftp site? i'm on a 'managed' laptop that work owns so torrents ain't happening for me. let me take this opportunity to also say that these would be a great addition to the 'owl' site. cheers, b
  24. mine are already gone, sorry. from the looks of ticketmaster it is sold out for now but there will probably be some 'day of show' tix available. b
  25. I got the reserved seats that i wanted this morning so i definitely DO HAVE 2 general admission tix that i want to get rid of. verizon is an easy place to get front row when the floor is general admission. pre-sale cost for the 2 was $74.90. Obviously don't have them in hand yet but we can work it out. email me if interested bwhite0421@yahoo.com cheers, brian
