Nice work kid!!

I was lucky enough to play One Wing with Jeff at a living room show. There are some minor changes to what has been posted but I believe these are the correct ones.

According to Jeff "Hey Chicken" had never been performed, ever. He said the recording was done in bits with different samples and power rangers. He had never played it start to finish. It doesn't sound complicated but is a very,very tricky little song. The old town school wilco ensemble has been trying to master it for a while. Jeff did give us a few pointers.

It was an amazing night!!!! Jeff was loose and funny despite being right in the middle of getting the new album out. A few highlights for me: Hearing the one and only performance of "Hey Chicken", which is a challenging song to play and "Glad It's Over" "Thirteen" and "True Love Will Find You In the End" sounded achingly beautiful "I Shall Be Released" with one guitar, Jeff and the members of Sleepy Kisser singing harmonies. Once we figure out who is going to go, we divide into groups of four or five or soloist's playing with Jeff. We then send about about a million emails out and let our favorite pedal steel player edit it down to a few songs per group. Jeff gets to reject any song he doesn't want to do. He usually is very willing to try to play just about anything. He only refused one song the first year, Uncle Tupelo's "No Sense In Loving". It was probably the one with the guitar solo from You Are My Face and the lyrics "I have no idea how this happens". It is pretty funny, for a tv spot for an overpriced car. Sorry, my one and only VW broke down near Little Big Horn, Montana. It was my last stand with Euro car.

Wow!!! That was really, really fun. Nothing better than hanging out with a hundred of your closest friends, playing and singing some great music. All "The Late Greats" are excited to give Wilco fans a chance to sing their favorite Wilco song. The Hideout is our favorite place place to hear live music in Chicago, Lauries is our favorite record store. It should be a really, really fun night. OK, When we played this song with Jeff at the living room show he had changed the lines to what is now on the CD. Or maybe I just heard them clearer standing a few feet away from him. The chords are right on our tab. It looked to me that Jeff was playing it close to what Kalle had tabbed. I wasn't close enough to him when we played. He showed our leader exactly how he played it.
