Nice work kid!!

I was lucky enough to play One Wing with Jeff at a living room show. There are some minor changes to what has been posted but I believe these are the correct ones.

One Wing We once belonged to a bird Cast a shadow on this world You were a blessing And I was a curse I did my best not to make things worse For you It isn't true I always knew this would be our fate This is what happens wings separate This happens to all dead weight Eventually We may as well be made of stone We can't be flown One wing will never fly Neither yours nor mine I fear we can only wave goodbye One wing We'll never ever fly Neither yours nor mine One wing Will never ever fly, dear Neither yours nor mine I fear we can only wave goodbye One wing Will never ever fly, dear Ne

Barrington Living Room Show - March 21, 2009
someareteeth replied to passenger's topic in After The Show
According to Jeff "Hey Chicken" had never been performed, ever. He said the recording was done in bits with different samples and power rangers. He had never played it start to finish. It doesn't sound complicated but is a very, very tricky little song. The old town school wilco ensemble has been trying to master it for a while. Jeff did give us a few pointers. -
Barrington Living Room Show - March 21, 2009

It was an amazing night!!!! Jeff was loose and funny despite being right in the middle of getting the new album out. A few highlights for me: Hearing the one and only performance of "Hey Chicken", which is a challenging song to play and "Glad It's Over" "Thirteen" and "True Love Will Find You In the End" sounded achingly beautiful "I Shall Be Released" with one guitar, Jeff and the members of Sleepy Kisser singing harmonies. "Love and Mercy" great, great song -
Once we figure out who is going to go, we divide into groups of four or five or soloist's playing with Jeff. We then send about about a million emails out and let our favorite pedal steel player edit it down to a few songs per group. Jeff gets to reject any song he doesn't want to do. He usually is very willing to try to play just about anything. He only refused one song the first year, Uncle Tupelo's "No Sense In Loving". Ken talked him into playing it and it is still one of my favorites. This year he offered to micro manage it as a joke. We can come up with some weird unlikely combinations o

Sorry, the video is for private use only. That is the deal we made with Jeff so we can film it. It is distributed to just the people that were there. Here's one of my photos of Jeff from this amazing night of music.

It was probably the one with the guitar solo from You Are My Face and the lyrics "I have no idea how this happens". It is pretty funny, for a tv spot for an overpriced car. Sorry, my one and only VW broke down near Little Big Horn, Montana. It was my last stand with Euro car.

Should be lots of fun! I will be there with beer.

Wow!!! That was really, really fun. Nothing better than hanging out with a hundred of your closest friends, playing and singing some great music. Louie B, digging Hotel Arizona out of Wilco Mothballs. We practced it saying, "Come on, no ones going to request "Hotel Arizona"." Nice Job Louie! Thanks Rosie for helping video tape this. Great job on "Heavy Metal Drummer" our drummer Rich would have been mad if no one requested it. Everyone had a great time. Thanks again to Sam for organizing a great party! We will have to do it again sometime. Anyone willing to invite the Late Greats to a Ba

I had you for a "Kicking TV" kind of guy. You will be missed. This is going to be so much fun.

All "The Late Greats" are excited to give Wilco fans a chance to sing their favorite Wilco song. The Hideout is our favorite place place to hear live music in Chicago, Lauries is our favorite record store. It should be a really, really fun night. We have been playing together for a few years and have performed most of the Wilco's recorded output. We are busy working on "Sky Blue Sky". If there are any unusual songs that folks that are going would like to sing, post them here and we will do our best. No promises but we want everyone to have a good time. Here is our web site. If you want to kn

It is drunks. Maybe a reference to the little dive bar the Ricochet in Lincoln Square. Typical of Jeff to substitute sound alike words to bring a across different meaning or two. Nice work on the Tab Kid!!!!

Here are the corrected lyrics complete with chords. I will post the tab that Jeff showed us when I can. ShaKe It Off |A# B|C |A#|F F#|G (full measures are 6 beats, halfs are 2, C4

OK, When we played this song with Jeff at the living room show he had changed the lines to what is now on the CD. Or maybe I just heard them clearer standing a few feet away from him. The chords are right on our tab. It looked to me that Jeff was playing it close to what Kalle had tabbed. I wasn't close enough to him when we played. He showed our leader exactly how he played it. I will find out an let you know. The CD has more funky stops in it than what they played live at the Auditoriom show. Corrected lines of verse "What is left of them, I turn to sleep again" "Hotels hold me, lost hor

It was nice to meet you Edie. I am playing drums with C and W group Thursday night. Your husband was very good!

I think Jeff got started on that story after someones cell phone rang during one of the breaks between songs. Everyone of course had to give that person a hard time. Jeff was having a good time and was really funny when he wasn't bringing the rock. I think it was a drummer's cell phone that rang. Half the folks there either play drums part time or are married to a drummer. "What do you call a drummer that just broke up with his girl freind?....Homeless"

It was amazing to hear you sing and play accoustic with Jeff. If you look carefully you can see Tom coveting Jeff's vintage prewar Martin. I think that is the one he said he recorderd California Stars on.

A few of the shots I took are on our groups web site, I was mainly working the video cameras and playing my Vintage Gretsch on a few choice songs. I get chills thinking about playing "Walken" with Jeff. Damn, we rocked that so hard. There are shots from last year there as well. http://web.mac.com/blastingfonda We didn't talk much about tour dates to Jeff. Jen might have talked him into playing Fort Wayne, Maybe. Mainly just talked about technical music stuff, guitars and video games. The goofy stuff musicians usually talk about. Most of the time we were to busy jamming.

Wow!!!!! It will be long time before the smile leaves my face. What an amazing night listening to and playing music with Jeff and all the great musicians at the Old Town School of Folk Music's Wilco Ensemble. Everyone played their heart out. I have played with this group for two years and I have never been more proud. The music was INCREDIBLE!!!!!!. Thanks to Chandler who set up and worked the sound and made us sound so good. Jeff and the group were relaxed and had a great time. Thanks to Ken and his family for hosting and making this possible. Thanks to our fearless leader Bobby G for bring

Don't be late for practice!

It is the really good looking guy with 47 year old Gretsch. Don't you know me Kid?

Alright, here it is from the head ninja at the Wilco Ensemble who spent many hours on this ShaKe It Off |A# B|C |A#|F F#|G (full measures are 6 beats, halfs are 2, C4

I think you are right. That would make sense, not that some of his other lines make sense. Jeff's lyrics are bit more straight foreword these days. It's his arrangements that are much more complicated. It is hard judge from a bootleg. I play with the Wilco Ensemble here in Chicago and this is a song we are working on. Hope to have chords and tab up soon. Here are the corrected lyrics. Thanks! I have been working on tab for this great new song. I think I have the lyrics down. Here is my best guess. Let me know if I got it right. Shake It Off Sunlight angles on over the floor at dawn Ceiling fan is on chopping up my dreams What is left of them tend to sleep again Where I dare pretend I
