From its original source : http://conqueror-of-the-moon.blogspot.com/2008/02/colin-moulding-of-xtc.html With all the talk around Andy's Fuzzy Warbles releases (deservedly so I may add) the last few years, I figured it was about time XTC's bassist and secondary singer/songwriter Colin Moulding received some props. His bass playing, a cross between Paul McCartney and James Jamerson and his way of turning a vocal melody were key components in the evolution of the band over the course of 25+ years. XTC, a band known for their long-standing critical success may be no more as in November 2006, P

I admit having an affinity for Gringo as well as a couple of tracks from Cosmos, especially Zeppelin Commander. The rest of the C.D. material I can do without. Boston Spaceships is his best, post GbV.

http://pitchfork.com/news/39589-robert-pollard-plans-five-new-albums/ Robert Pollard Plans Five New Albums Hear a new MP3, plus details on art exhibit with a Sopranos star MP3: Boston Spaceships: ""Come on Baby Grace" " 2010 is looking like Bob Pollard's most productive year since at least 2009. He's got the Guided By Voices reunion tour coming up, sure, but if you thought he was just going to sit back and count that reunion cash for the rest of the year, well, you don't know Bob. The man is planning to release five albums over the next 10 months, starting off with Our Cubehouse Still Ro

I wanted to interrupt all the recent GbV reunion hoopla with more exciting news. Boston Spaceships : Our Cubehouse Still Rocks Sept. 7, 2010 Following three full-length Boston Spaceships records in only two years, Our Cubehouse Still Rocks is a breakthrough fourth album from the band featuring Robert Pollard (Guided By Voices), Chris Slusarenko (Guided By Voices) and John Moen (Decemberists). The collaboration began as a long-distance recording project, but brilliantly hits its stride on this album as an unshakable, actualized band. For a group that took their name from the over-the-top

While 'Moses' does have a couple classics in 'Arrows & Balloons' & 'Each Is Good in His Own House', I still prefer 'Army" by a long shot. That being said, neither reach the greatness of Zero to 99.

Earlier this week, we learned that Guided By Voices would reunite to play Matador's 21st birthday party, which goes down October 1-3 at the Palms Casino and Resort in Las Vegas. But other than frontman Robert Pollard, Guided by Voices has had more lineups than a baseball team. So what exactly does this reunion mean? The Matador 21 poster promised "the classic '93-'96 lineup." And yesterday, Pollard revealed precisely who will be involved in the reunion. Talking to Spinner, Pollard said, "It's better than the original line-up: Tobin Sprout and Mitch Mitchell [guitars], Kevin Fennell [drums],

I read somewhere a few weeks ago that after several iterations, they decided to use the original demos for both Terrible Love & Lemonworld.

It's no Boston Spaceships, but after a couple of spins I can tell there are a few winners on Moses On A Snail

The last couple of tracks with minimal accompaniment I like quite a bit. -
In my opinion , it's up there pretty high. There are 7-8 solid pollard tracks that would make just about any best-of. As for post NH, here's a mix I put together last August, that coincidentally enough, is just that. One caveat, it contains nothing from the last BSpaceships record, ZERO to 99. I would give him in that in its entirety. Things Have Changed (Down in Mexico City) ** Stiff Me ** Death of The Party $$ Symbols and Heads ** Miles Under The Skin ++ Heavy Crown ## Gratification To Concrete () Canned Food Demons ## Go For The Exit & Johnny Optimist ** Queen Of Stormy Weather ## J

As I've stated before, Highway & Cigarettes, Methamphetamine, and Dust of Daylight are the only true "classic" Jay songs from the last two records. I've regretfully never seen Marah live, but have been a fan since Kids In Philly. As far as I'm concerned, these are all great. (Note the absence of songs from Angels of Destruction save for one) Fever Formula, Cola, Dollar Draft Phantom Eyes Firecracker For The Price of A Song Rain Delay Baby Love Faraway You Point Breeze My Heart is the Bums on the Street Round Eye Blues Barstool Boys The Catfisherman The History of Where Someone Has Be

I've been a fan of Pollard's songs for fifteen years +. Even though there has been a 'slight' decline in the last few years, almost every record still has 3-5 Pollard gems. As much as B1000, Alien Lanes, UTBUTS are classics in my opinion, it may not be a good launching pad to "get" what's he doing. Some people just can't get past lo-fi and all that tape hiss on Toby's 4-track. I've had much better success with Pollard newbies with a newer selection of tracks, and 'then' having them work there way back if they're still interested. You could also just pick up his first solo record 'From A Comp
