  1. Ha, a wash of sound. Nice. Too bad Phil Spector didn't think of THAT one.
  2. If you're gonna be running a laptop live I'd suggest looking at Native Instrument's FM8 and maybe Pro-53. They're some really great basic programs that are easy to use and setup live. Also they make B4 (for organs) and Acoustik Piano. I use reason too, and sometimes its really good and what I need, but other times it's really hard to get the sound I want quickly. Anyway, just some ideas.
  3. I really appreciate all the help. I'm still bugging my friend to try some of this. As for myself, I just bought a '66 Mustang. Im still waiting (eagerly) for it to ship.
  4. Five years? I keep waiting for my Wilco phase to end (not end...but at least not comprise 95% of what I listen to)... When I talk about them to my friends I do so as if it's some girlfriend that I'm so conscious about. Oh my...this could go on for forever.
  5. Ha. I was sitting in the car worrying about how I forgot to mention that. "Until You Came Along" is one of my all-time favorite songs by the way.
  6. Ha, I hear ya. I listened to Wilco as a kid (yeah Im that young). My family was kinda into good music so I heard some Tupelo and then AM and a little bit of Being There. Anyway, I kinda forgot about them during Summerteeth, but still bought YHF and AGIB. But then a few years ago, I REALLY listened to them. I now have like 700 Wilco songs on my iPod with all the live shows. Everytime I go to a guitar shop all I can remember to play is Wilco. And dont even get me started about how my friends hate riding in the car with me... Ha, I'm over it a bit more now. But for like almost a year it was all W
  7. I don't know how VC feels about basketball....but Steve Nash is known to grow his hair ridiculously long, then shave it all off. Jeff is kinda like that...only it includes facial hair. Lots of facial hair. I personally like the "Bob Dylan" look more than the "rehab" look. I kid I kid.
  8. Yes, but though the average person might come to a concert and say "Well, that lead guitar tone was SICK," people do notice when things for one reason or another, just sound great. This is especially true for opening bands that I don't know ahead of time. If they have some guitar tone that sounds like every other band then I don't really notice, but if something sounds really good, I'll listen a lot more. But then, if you have a wonderful tone and can't play the instrument well.......at least you're doing ONE thing right!
  9. Yeah, like at the end of the Impossible Germany solo? When Jeff and Pat come back in? I know what you mean too. I think the stuff live sounds a bit more...rambunctious than the stuff in Impossible Germany, which sounds a little more controlled. My friends and I just call it the "blastoff" noise. Unfortunately no one makes a Nels Cline signature pedal.
  10. Also, for the record, seems like he's had that guitar for a while. Check it: Rolling Stone Article Anyway, it's definitely not what he plays for the leads on AGIB lak said but I think it's used quite a bit on Sky Blue Sky. Like "Hate it Here." Check the bonus DVD, you can see it a lot.
  11. I think that's the Gibson Barney Kessel he's got. First time I saw it was on the kicking television tour, but he has so many guitars....what do I know? Great guitar, not so great haircut.
  12. He and Nels sorta joined the band together, and I was more consumed with the idea of Nels Cline in Wilco than with (at the time...) what I thought was John's friend. When I first saw the new lineup, my reaction too was "how lucky is this guy," cause from where I was standing he seemed to be all of 15. Over time though, it's true, I've come to appreciate him so much! I had the opportunity of meeting him in San Antonio, and it was as awkward as any of your conversations. Here's the story: My friend and I found a huuuge hard-plastic (like a yardsign) Wilco poster off to the side of the stage. W
  13. Alright forum, I need some help here. There are two separate cases: 1) My friend has an old musicmaster that is just in terrible cosmetic shape. His brother at the age of 12 or so hand painted it (DIY to the extreme). The pickups are gone but most of the more important aspects of the guitar itself seem to be okay. The action is alright (might need a new nut though) the bridge is intact etc. What pickups do you think I should get? Any favorite color choices? etc. etc. 2) My other friend is buying a Epiphone Sheraton II (ebony I think..) and I'm trying to convince him to mod it a little bit
  14. I'd imagine they're as hard to learn as they are to purchase. Let me know if you find one!
  15. Ha, this post never really got the "wow" it deserved: WOW. Those look outrageous.
