The new years show they did with The Flaming Lips in 2004 was a great show for covers:
Livin' After Midnight
Love Will Keep Us Together
Political Science
I Shall Be Released
Something In The Air
(Don't Fear) The Reaper
Gut Feeling / Slap Your Mammy
Comment (If All Men Are Truly Brothers)

A quick google came up with this: http://www.fixya.com/support/t290537-moving_music_tracks_from_dell_dj does this help?

When have "the kids" not had terrible taste in music?
That's what I was trying to say. People seem to tend towards disconnection with newer music as they grow older. Don't know if that's how you took it.
-
What is the "current crop"? Why is Kanye West "more pointless by the day"? How are you so in tune with today's hip hop scene?
There has probably never been a time in history in any genre when an older person hasn't said "today's crop seems fairly pedestrian."
I definitely notice myself reprimanding these kids today with their taste in music.
Lupe Fiasco's pretty good for a noob. Common's still droppin good stuff. Mos Def's last album was re-freakin-freshing after his last pile of hot garbage.
-
My sentiments exactly....
Actually I can, but how many really good rap artists are there at this point (not talking about Public Enemy.) I know we have been done this road a thousand times. The current crop seems fairly pedestrian. (Kanye West is practically old school at this point.....and getting more pointless by the day..}

In the last year or two Brother Ali, Aesop Rock, Sage Francis and Atmosphere have all released good records.
Never head of them, but bonus points for a cool name.
Funny story, I saw them at Toad's Place in New Haven, CT and Evidence, one of the rappers, was outside handing out... Dilated Peoples eyedrops. I still have them to this day. It's one of the coolest promo items I have, just a bottle of eye drops with the dilated peoples logo on them.

These two posts would be the greatest entries in the history of this board if:
1) remphish lived in South Dakota
2) u2roolz lived in Connecticut
I live in CT and still almost forget that second "c" sometimes. Albuquerque took me forever to learn how to spell, on a completely non-geographically related note.

Well, it's on the intertubes. Not sure when it is officially released, but what does everyone think about it? I'm on my first listen now. They definitely felt free to make it a Flaming Lips album, which I'm happy with. It's weird hearing it in such a different light, but in a lot of ways fitting as well.

Yeah, I think I was drinking too much of it. Not an insane amount compared to real heavy users, but then, isn't that how all addicts rationalize it?
"Well sure, I just downed a six pack of red bull cola, but at least I'm not snorting Jolt!"
-
Real men, like, say, Matt Z, don't water down their booze - they drink it straight and they like it, and when they're done, they immediately order another. Even realer men don't pussy around with glasses, they just drink straight from the bottle.
Lately I would have to agree, I've been getting into bourbons straight, but sometimes I'll be somewhere where they don't have anything I enjoy straight/on the rocks, so I'll mix something like Jack & ginger.
-
Yeah, I drink my beer and my whiskey straight. In the interests of full disclosure, I didn't include Seltzer in my definition of soda. This isn't some vegetarian who eats chicken type scenario, though. Seltzer is the only thing that got a pass because it's just water with bubbles. No coke, no sprite, no ginger ale, nothing with bubbles and other crap.
EDIT: this was so much harder than I ever thought it would be. I want a coke almost every day. And just as badly as I wanted one on Jan 2, 2009. It's scary how addictions work. Proof that I needed to give it up, I think.
Oh, I wouldn't include seltzer/tonic water/club soda either, as they all lack everything I'd assume you gave up soda for: the sugar/corn syrup, phosphoric acid, etc.
Did you drink an exceptional amount of soda prior to giving it up or did you just decide that you're better off without it?
-
I am nine days away from my goal of "No Soda in 09." I may chug a Coke at midnight on NYE. I'm jonesin'.
Damn, what do you mix drinks with? I could get away with no soda with vodka, but rum or whiskey?

I haven't smoked since January, I've begun cycling (clocked 500 miles on my new bike, not the most but it's a start), running and wall climbing regularly, and I split up my check deposit at work into a bill account, spending account, and savings account and have stuck with it. Oh, and I went on a nice 5500 mile, 16 state road trip!

I saw him at Bonnaroo a couple years ago and really enjoyed his set. There was a lot of energy and he invited a fan onto stage to let him play his own song. Plus, I think they thought they were at the original Woodstock the way the band looked.

Yeah I definitely had one of those "ok it's just a show" moments.. Especially for trinity figuring out where Dexter lives, going to his real house just in time for Rita to get there, and having enough time to kill her, set up the scene etc...
It was a brilliant ending, absolutely perfect.. But man was it disturbing.. Gave my wife nightmares.
Right? Oh and the taxi! I was like "wouldn't she have just left the taxi waiting while she ran in to get her id?"
But it was a great show nonetheless and the ending was awesome.

I would've been thoroughly disappointed if it was a dream sequence. Did anyone else think the chronology of the finale was a little tight as far as Dexter and Trinity getting everything done that they did? I Trinity figuring out where Dexter actually lived & getting there, and then Dexter figuring out that Trinity had the mustang, and getting in the mustang before Trinity got there were the two main moments where I was kinda like "they really worked that out in time?"
-
Nevermind, didn't see the last list! Ha. At least we're not all homebodies.
-
I didn't catch any Dexter-is-arrested stuff in the previews, but the cuts in those are so swift that I easily could have missed it.
They sure did provide a hell of a setup for the season finale. I'm even beginning to wonder whether Trinity could survive into next season, and he and Dexter continue to circle each other for a while. Each now has the power to destroy the other, and it'd be fascinating to watch how that situation would eventually resolve.
I could be wrong, I need to watch it again too. It'd be kind of interesting having Trinity stick around a little longer and I don't think many people would mind. And yes, the finale looks like it's going to be an absolutely insane hour of television!
I wonder if Christine would have killed herself if Deb had just forgiven her?
I wondered that as well. Like, was Christine asking for some hope of redemption, and felt it was a lost cause after Deb said she couldn't forgive her? I kinda feel like Deb should've been more on top of that situation. She should've had her in handcuffs sooner.
-
So we know that Deb finds out who Dexter's mother is, and she also knew Ice Truck Killer is Brian Moser. I'm guessing she'll make the connection that they were siblings, but she'll take Dex's word that he didn't know.
Also did it look like Dexter was arrested in the previews? I can't wait to see what happens at the beginning of next week's episode!

Does any one know what time to line up at Second City for this event? Is 5pm tooo late?
I showed up right at opening last year and got in fine.
-
You give my memory WAY too much credit. I also avoid the longer posts for that reason, though they mostly seem to be speculation.
I swear sometimes speculation is worse for me. I'd rather watch the dexter post here than go to showtime's official forum only because the people talking there are soooooo ridiculous.
-
I completely agree with the more of "him" part. Nothing against Zooey, but I would have loved if it was more of a collaboration vocally than it turned out to be.
-
I'd have a hard time believing that. We already had a murderous brother come out of the woodwork. I think we'll find out that Harry is his actual father. Harry felt responsible for what happened to Dexter's mother (both her murder and her pregnancy) and that is why he took Dexter and not the other brother.
I also have a hard time believing it, mostly because I just wouldn't want another big revelation to be some other hidden familial connection.
-
Interesting information that I just stumbled upon on another forum, and possibly a spoiler:
The characters of Trinity's wife and daughter, Sally and Rebecca, have different last names on imdb than Harry and Jonah.
-
Wow, Bonnie Prince Billy, Jeff Tweey, and the Mountain Goats, for $15? Plus all the comedy in between?!?
Why dont they ever cover anything live?

I loved that portion of the show! After the ball drop they just turned into a cover band for forty minutes. Jeff even made a quip about it at one point.
