  1. I love it because it's so sad. It's such a perfect portrayal of a heartbreaking situation, and he nails it.

One song that definitely gives it a run for its money, imo, is Light Pollution. I just love the story in that song too, and the end is awesome.

  2. It's been a while and nothing's surfaced, anyone have any word on a recording of this show? I know I saw at least 2 mic stands there that night! It's the only Wilco show I've seen that I don't have a recording of, and from what I remember it was one of my favorites.

  3. Ewwwwww! Are you still living there? My friend that found it (the second one) lives in New Mexico. I swear I think they're crawling on my feet right now. Or I'm having a flashback. The 90's were rough.

You get used to things much worse than that rather quickly in New Mexico. I had a black widow living in my storage shed. I contemplated killing it but I pictured the process going horribly wrong, me missing it with my shoe, losing my balance over my lawn mower, falling, pulling the web and spider down with me, and dying a horrible death as the spider exacts its revenge on me. Needless to say we agreed to disagree and coexisted peacefully.

  4. I'm pretty certain "Danny Callahan" is the best song he's ever written. He's been threatening to write a song that good for like 5 years, and he finally did it. It's the musical equivalent of LeBron's 2008-2009 season.

Agreed. Not sure about best, but damn damn good. So good I don't mind singing about a little kid dying from cancer at the top of my lungs and dancing.

  5. My girlfriend and I are planning to rewatch from the beginning over the next couple of months in anticipation for the final season.

We're talking about getting a notebook and writing down every question we have after each episode and tracking them to see if they get answered.

They don't get answered, they just get confused.

  6. You know those songs you just put on repeat when you are too fed up with everything? The ones that make you think M. Ward was right when he said "why burn your bridges when you can blow your bridges up?"

Currently I can't get enough of The Mountain Goats - No Children.

Modest Mouse - The View is another one that comes to mind.

  7. Konkurrent website

IN THE FISHTANK In The Fishtank is an ever ongoing project of Konkurrent, independent music distributor in the Netherlands. In this collection Konkurrent invites musicians to whom they feel strongly related to record. They are given two days studio time and freedom to do whatever they like musically.

The Fishtank offers a space for expression and experimentation, results may vary but are always surprising.

Ever since 'Endless Summer' we were attracted to the music ofChristian Fennesz. Where many laptop artists don’t reach further thanidle electronic rumble without engagement, Fennesz manages to createa world of unheard and rich new sounds.

Christian’s idea to collaborate with Mark Linkous of Sparklehorseexcited us immediately. The two artists had performed together acouple of times and both felt that there was further mileage in thecollaboration.

Just two days in December 2007 were enough to record over 40 minutesof the sublime Fennesz and Sparklehorse combination. Prepared odditiesand masses of inspiration make these recordings unique in theirstyle and in this series in particular. Songs and soundscapes of rarebeauty with stunning atmospherics, where abstract sounds and wellcraftedtraditional songstructure meet and where acoustic instrumentsand electronics create outstanding ambience.

    Tracks

    1. Music Box Of Snakes

    2. Goodnight Sweetheart

    3. Shai-Hulud

    4. If My Heart

    5. Mark’s Guitar Piece

    6. NC Bongo Buddy

    7. Christian’s Guitar Piece

  8. A great gateway into M. Ward would be "Transfiguration of Vincent"

    goat boy...hilarious.

i've been so hot and cold with mmj. if i let myself, i can really dig at dawn, it still moves, z. they have a cool sound, but yim seems to do some goofy things with his voice that i just think ruin his songs. also, his lyrics are pretty goofy sometimes...'baby in a blender'? anyway, i'm trying to suspend judgement on some stuff lately and get into some things that could be rewarding (the national, mmj, dbt). i hope this album is good and is a gateway to m. ward and connor.

  9. Okay, I'm gonna throw it out there. I didn't expect Sufjan to get all 50 state albums done, but isn't anyone else disappointed that he seems to have stopped after only 2?!?! Should be a good show though. I saw him in the Illinois tour back in the day and they were entertaining.

  10. omggggggggggg :wub can't wait to hear this!!

I've been saying they should've been on stage together this whole mini tour. Damn them for doing it at a show I wasn't at! Lol, but it does sound awesome & i'm looking forward to hearing it too!

  11. You have a couple options...the city of Beacon is just a mile or so south of the stadium. Main Street Beacon has a a few restaraunts and bars. I recommend Max's on Main...good food and good atmosphere. I would imagine some fans pre-gaming at Max's. But if you are looking for something right next to the stadium, there is an italian resturaunt/pizzeria across the street from the stadium entrance.

As far as parking...the stadium lot isn't huge, but if you get in early you shouldn't have a problem. Once that lot fills, I think they direct people to a lot across the street.

Thanks! I love local suggestions so I think Max's it'll be.

    What's the forecast?

Accuweather says we're good, weather channel says 10% chance of rain, NOAA says mostly clear.

  12. thanks to everyone posting the daily songs and saving us the terrible ordeal of dealing with the writer's comments. Also, it's a bit interesting to think about the fact that the writer may well stumble across this post during his top 20 listing, and what impact that may have if he did.

  13. ... when buying her fix. I just wanted to purchase my cherry coke...

Haha. But seriously. I quit in January and they've already gone up a dollar since then. I'm pretty indifferent to the rising costs now, but during the course of smoking I switched from a brand I liked more, American Spirits, to a cheaper brand, camels. God it's felt great actually breathing for the last six months.

  14. Yes, as a matter of fact we are planning to tailgate. And since they're charging for parking I'm pretty sure it would be allowed.

Stop by and say hello, we'll be in the handicapped parking section.

And pray for good weather....the forecast is a bit shaky still for Saturday althouhg looking better than it did yesterday.

I was looking at that today too after Lowell last saturday. Hopefully it'll hold out.
