  1. One of my all-time favorite artists appeared several times on this sketch show, in its heyday, with a far greater proportion of the potential viewing audience tuning in. obscurity Who? Yeah.
  2. I've gone back and forth with ellsworth for years on another board (I've grown quite fond of the chap), and trust me:
  3. You're not getting grumpier... just old. Wilco is now the most popular band that I'll bother to go see live. The difference between now and say, over a decade ago is that I will purposely get the shittiest seats possible, to avoid the scenesters, yellers, spillers and the "hey, I'm wearing a Tupey shirt and know all the lyrics and capo settings, which I will make sure to yell so that you know that Iknow" -ers.
  4. I'm just playing devil's advocate here... I have no financial interest in the Charleston gig. I happen to agree with ellsworth, and was tossing in my 2 cents. The argument boils down to whether SNL is a keen reason to cancel a show, and whether deep personal glee and sense of triumph over a declining late-night weekend sketch comedy show appearance to the point of euphoria is a healthy fan outlook.
  5. Wow. I think you may have helped illustrate my point. There seemed to be a question as to whether these "getting screwed by the band is an honor" fans existed on VC. If you happen to be one of them, it might not have been worth your while to read my posting. Thank you, yes. My point being that before spending money to attend a Wilco show in the future, first and foremost in my mind will be the chances of an abrupt cancellation. In my case, hundreds of dollars. Hundreds of dollars... that's a big deal to most of us here in fly-over country. As to why the cancellation took place, weather
  6. The extent of my personal involvement towards any artist, in regard to his or her physical/ emotional well-being, is selfishly in the vein of: "if fortune comfortably smiles upon this person, he or she will be able to continue providing me with the art that enriches my life in some way." This only goes so far. My hat is off to ellsworth for keeping his cool regarding this cancellation. I'd have been RIP SH!T. The "you should be happy for the band, and shut up about your wasted time and money" argument is garbage. Ellsworth to his credit, is able to voice his displeasure logically... but the lo
  7. I waited for hours in the freezing cold for a GG Allin show, only to be smeared with his feces at the top of an 18 minute set. You coddled queens...
  8. Any advance word on the band being lifecasted for Goat Boy prosthetics?
  9. Whoa, time out. SNL is still on the air? I was under the impression that this show had been cancelled after Jimmy Fallon's first season...
  10. Here comes the mud. Your thoughts? Photo flap
  11. Don't forget blacks. Dude's a big ol' racist.
  12. Is sarcasm really that hard to spot... especially when followed up with my non-sarcastic screed in the same post?
  13. Yeah. 4000 dopes who were duped into becoming Bush's baby killers. What I love more than "instant historical perspective" (now the norm), is assuming that no one in the military had personal convictions or beliefs that led to them signing up for the mission.
  14. The information you're privy to is a commentator's blog entry? I'm not sure that Andrew Sullivan, Billie Joe Armstrong or Keith Olbermann, however sagacious they may be, could make these charges stick.
  15. Nothing funny about war crimes... if you're privy to some info, you need to share, bro.
  16. Dang, this is the first I've heard of this! Any word on when Bush is scheduled to be handed over to the Hague to stand trial for war crimes? Hey... wait a minute. Is this just a cool slogan you heard Eddie Vedder drop?
  17. Wow. 8 years of enlightened & creative horsesh!t like: ...and the bee in your bonnet is over a good ol' boy expressing his view that Hillary is a "c[o]unt"? A skin too few?
  18. A lot of aspirin factory workers might wish he had his priorities a bit more in line at the time. By "and", I assume you mean any. Here's just a couple from the greatest president of my lifetime: "Above all, we must realize that no arsenal or no weapon in the arsenals of the world is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. It is a weapon our adversaries in today's world do not have. It is a weapon that we as Americans do have. Let that be understood by those who practice terrorism and prey upon their neighbors." -Ronald W. Reagan "For too long, the world wa
