WILCO - 10/19/09 UIC Pavilion, Chicago Night #2
Larry replied to EatMorePez's topic in After The Show
I would have loved to hang out with you guys after the show but I had to run because I hadn't eaten since lunch. I was also very thirsty since I didn't drink anything before the show either. It was great seeing all of you, my Wilco friends! I can't wait for the next shows! My brother Andrew sends his regards! He had to miss Monday night because his play, The History Boys, won 5 Jeff awards!!! Love you all -
I like the idea that I can go early to the venue and hang out with friends old and new. I love the people who wait hours for the show to begin. It gives me a sense of belonging and kinship. Maybe that was what people were frustrated about. They didn't feel like they belonged because they didn't want to spend the time to get to know all of the cool people who LOVE Wilco. Why not take the opportunity to get to know some really cool people. That's what makes life so much fun!!!

Keep trying. I see that others got in 8 minutes later. I also know the Ticketmaster presale is in 2 hours. The password is "alfred".

Lou, Looks like the floor at the UIC will be intimate enough but I don't recall how the sound is over there. Do you? Larry

Got the floor tickets. Looks like they are sold out already. The presales started 2 minutes early according to my cell phone clock.

Did anyone use an HD Radio to record the XRT show? I know this is a somewhat remote possibility but HD Radio is such a clear digital sound compared to regular FM or streaming audio. If that person could please respond to this post, I would appreciate it.

Nels is such a nice guy in person. I had to post something so I am getting to reply to your thread here even though I heard your story right after it happened. It was a great time and I can't wait for the next one.

Some tickets are being sold on Craigslist for this show ($10-$30). Apparently the student ID is a requirment and some are even offering that option for an extra $10. Here is a listing I found. (Date: 2007-05-06, 6:45PM CDT) (have one ticket for concert at small venue at northwestern- need a student id card to get in.. can be arranged for 10 $ extra) Good luck to anyone who can get into this show. Please pass along a review afterwards.

I put the show into iTunes and needed some album art. I created this for my "Album Flow" and am glad to share it. Many thanks to the poster artist. Larry

I played the FLAC files from my computer through my stereo and let me tell you, it was like being there all over again. My brother and I were clapping after each song!!! My brother is so sorry that he was not there. It was worth every penny and then some. I would have donated even more if Jeff played longer!!! I have never heard such a clear recording as this one. I think I could hear myself clapping in the audience. I know I heard myself make a comment during a conversation time. I remembered every emotion as it was happening that night. WOW!!! If anyone is feeling "lazy" and doesn't w

You must be testing me. My favortie Wilco song is "Company in My Back". The problem I was having was trying to hear that song in my head with just Jeff and his guitar. I suppose I should have requested it anyway. Rest peacfully Mr. Kurt Vonnegut.
-
Sorry to say I didn't request anything. Everyone else put their favorites in and mine were already included on that list.

I just want to remark how much fun I had meeting all of the cool fans at the front of the line. We froze our toochis (tu kisses) off for several hours but the payoff was when Sue and the kids came out to take our song requests. Thanks to Lou, Matt, Allison, Amy, Brianne, Edie & Scott, Aaron, and expecially Corrine and Kelly for making my night even more enjoyable than it already was seeing Jeff play. Morgan great pictures. I was sitting to your left. I know how hard you worked to get just the right shot of Jeff being a standup comedian. I think he was "4 times funnier" that night. P
