  1. These guys popped up on my spotify radio.  I think the song was "The Only One" from the album "That Much Further West".  I thought to myself "finally there's a band that combines early era indie-rock like Sunny Day Real Estate with alt-country".

And then it wore off quick.. I heard some of their other tunes.. I think the vocals do hurt them a lot, and it's not because of the smoke stained voice.. He sounds like he's trying too hard..  Like he's straining to achieve the rustic country twang accent.. Good band, but unfortunately the vocals do ruin them for me.

  2.

And it was far from classless. But then again, I probably define class a little differently.

Class would have been, walk over to the sideline, celebrate with your team, then meet mid field and shake hands.  Not scream unintelligibly at an interviewer, about scaring her to death.  But I probably define class a little differently.

And yeah like Lammy said, why should I stop watching football?  There are just as many players that still have some class.
  3.

call me old school, but class wins out every time.

THANK YOU.  Call me old school too, but what was entertaining for me was the play just before that  And the plays leading up to it.  It was a great game.  I could care less about the back and forth, "oh no you didn't" smack talking bullshit in sports.  Shut up and play some damn football.

  4.  Live, they played them as loud as possible, but completely stripped down, raw and in your face.

Yeah sort of reminds me of seeing Wilco on the front row. When you're that close, you can hear the true un-mic'd sound of their amps which is a beautiful thing.

  5. Not trying to offend anybody but.....YHF, Summerteeth, Being There

Strongly disagree with YHF (for me the production is like a warm blanket), I can see your point on ST (a little over compressed) but the production has never bothered me, and definitely Being There.. WAY too trebly and thin, almost ruins the album for me.. But its still my top 1 or 2 favorite Wilco record.

Now Sky Blue Sky on the other hand, horrible.  Atticus once described it perfectly (and I paraphrase) "it sounds like they lined up the amps in front of a wall of tampons and hit record".

  6. 70 minutes of ZZ Top seems about right. Maybe too much even...

    Yeah.

Reminds me of when I saw the Ramones.  They played a little over a half hour and it was just right.  Like one continuous song.
