Report: Bush mulled sending troops into Buffalo

It’s a gaffe, but again, it is not on par with being entirely devoid of knowledge with respect to complicated issues that absolutely require a great degree of understanding. Palin declaring that she would not answer questions during her debate with Biden had nothing to do with being mavericky, and everything to do with the fact that she simply could not. Her recent concession speech is ample evidence that she has not learned from past errors, nor does she care to. You would think she would have taken the time required to craft a lucid, intelligible speech, this was, after all, probably the sin -
I cannot stomach cheap beer – I think the genesis of my distaste for it harkens back to my freshman year in high school, drinking warm Bud behind the local mall prior to hitting the arcade. It did nothing for my Galaga skills. I rarely drink, but when I do, I usually stop by the Portsmouth Brewery for a yummy Black Cat Stout.

I’m not willing to concede that he is dumb. I’ve watched more than my fair share of Sunday morning shows, and though I do not always agree with, I don’t recall him ever coming off as dumb – dishonest, yes, but lacking in intelligence, no. -

Everyone says dumb things some of the time, but not everyone says dumb things all of the time. I’ve yet to read and/or watch an interview in which she makes a modicum of sense – for her, it almost seems unpossible. She really is in a category all by herself. -

Can you imagine how the right would react if a well known, albeit dubious democratic governor were to quit mid-term, citing unfair treatment by the media as a contributing factor? It would be a right-wing orgiastic blood bath – whereas with Palin, they’ve pretty much fallen over themselves to downplay the significance – with so called experts like Kristol calling it a “shrewd move.” Where are the republican cries of “cut and run”? -

My knowledge of Canada’s health care system is also very limited, but based on their standard of living, life expectancy, and an overall health care approval rating in the neighborhood of 90%, I’m going to have to assume it shares very little in common with the VA. From what I’ve read, their system, like all systems, could use some improvement, but the very same thing could be said of ours. Wikipedia provides a pretty good overview of both. Excerpt: In 2007, Gordon H. Guyatt et al. conducted a meta-analysis, or systematic review, of all studies that compared health outcomes for similar -

No, because he's proven, on many occasions, that he's intelligent and well informed. Much of what he said in his latest gaff regarding Russia was spot on, where he erred, is in speaking his mind a little too honestly whilst on the record. Palin's views regarding Russia, on the other hand, are completely off the wall, ill informed, and just plain bizzare. Biden: "The reality is the Russians are where they are. They have a shrinking population base, they have a withering economy, they have a banking sector and structure that is not likely to be able to withstand the next 15 years, they're in -

There’s a distinction to be made between saying something stupid, and being stupid, no? Biden is an intelligent guy who doesn’t have full control of his internal censor, apparently, whereas Palin, well, Palin is just fucking nuts. -

But they’re not the same. A very strong case could be made that Bush, is, in fact, a war criminal - authorizing torture, etc. Whereas, try as you might, using all tools at your disposal, both real and imagined, Obama will never actually be the anti-Christ - ever, by any measure. At this time in history, the conservative movement has gone off the rails on a crazy train, and try as you might, no amount of wacky, your just as crazy relativism applies. The republican party has become unhinged - when Joe the Plumber is held up as the hero of your party, well, you just know you’re fucked. None -

I agree, it’s swill. But if folks stop purchasing the expensive, $3.00 a six-pack premium beers brewed by Budweiser (/sarcasm), what will happen to micro-brews? They’ll go out of business or get swallowed up by Coors or some shit. ome shit.

Out of curiosity, what sort of magic has prevented the Canadian health care system (to take but one example) from devolving into a US-VA-system-like hell, and what is preventing it from being replicated here? I would kindly post the $120 cost associated with a routine, 15 minute doctor visit, if the insurance company would kindly stop taking $308 out of my check every month. -

Elite is one of those little code words employed by the hard right to pretty much end a given debate, ex: … Republican Representative John Duncan of Tennessee. Confronted with a vast amount of evidence provided by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Public Health Association, the US Institute of Medicine , the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American Psychological Association that abstinence-only education does not work, does not reduce the incidence of either teen pregnancies or sexually transmitted disease, and that it is a waste of money, the hono -

Real Americans® But seriously, check out Andrew Sullivan’s site – he is the most prolific blogger on the bizarre existence of Palin, and has taken a lot of flak (from “real conservatives) for taking it to her on a daily basis. She is at the top of many contender lists – and again, Sullivan has done a great job of compiling them. -

I agree that Republicans are not alone in choosing piss poor candidates, however, I don’t agree that it’s a 50/50 split. I’d say somewhere in the neighborhood of 70/30 - I mean, have you seen the candidates at the top of the 2012 Republican list? Some of them are borderline insane – and they’re not the fringe candidates that pop up every four years, but the mainstream of the Republican Party. Sarah Palin alone should pretty much disqualify the republicans from running in the 2012 election, and yet she’s held up as the savior of the party – I mean, wtf???? -

Sure. I agree 100%. But when folks elect, and then reelected an individual who has proven himself to be entirely inadequate w/r/t performing the job he was elected to do, twice, and then ask for even more by way of say, Palin, well, I think those people have earned the title of stupid. At least insofar as deciding by which criteria folks should be elected, i.e. actually possessing the ability to do that job, dealing with issues that have to do with reality, or whether they believe an issue such as same sex marriage, a proposal that has absolutely no bearing on the lives of straight folks, trum -

Given that I tend to be more liberal than conservative, can I still be considered elitist or, say, of the elite, if I’m putting off a visit to the dentist to correct what might just be an abscess on account of being really fucking broke? Cause even though I’m elite, a cocktail of aspirin and Maximum Strength Orajel® is much less expensive. But as far as that comment that prompted your response, yes, on the whole, the electorate is tragically misinformed, i.e. – stupid in matters related to politics. If they can be counted on to do anything consistently, it is their unwavering ability to -

So, to clarify – Sarah Palin = hot, but Meg White = not? Just what sort of bizarro universe have I stepped into here, exactly? Edit: Ok and so tell me, in this new universe we’re in, is Geraldine Ferraro hotter than Superchunk’s Laura Ballance – and if so, can someone show me the fuck out?
