Playing for big bucks at Reading and Leeds festivals. Always gonna happen when the cash ran out. Doherty was big news for quite some time in the British tabloid media (waiting for him to kill himself basically). Still, they had a certain magic in a DIY 1976 kind of way. The sound of a band breaking up and wonderful video from their London Forum gigs before it all fell apart http://bit.ly/fU1hd British media already in a lather about them coming back.

London gig on May 26th switched to bigger venue - now at Cargo not Tabernacle

I'm up for this too. Have in-laws in Paris and I can tell you there are lots of English and Americans who live and work on the west side of the city. Go there every xmas. How about a nice intimate gig at La Cigale? I'd be there like a shot and so would my two teenage nephews who I've weaned onto Wilco these past few years. Daft Punk anyone?

the google sandbag tickets wilco took me to the wilcoworld tickets section and got in from there. all a bit starnge though - they've obviously shifted a hundred plus tickets already. anyway it is a big venue with a cavernously high roof - saw Divine Comedy, Sigur Ros, Ryan Adams and Dexy's there. there'll be plenty of good tickets left on friday

went in through google under search 'sandbag wilco tickets' and got in first time Pricey though 37 quid plus fees etc.

The BBC are pulling then plug on BBC 6Music because it's not popular enough. The death of alternative radio - a disgrace. Big outcry among music fans over here. You can twitter protests on #saveBBC6music A great radio station - noting like it anywhere else in the UK - equivalent I guess of NPR in the US. Yours, disgusted.

Have been curious about Banhart for years without ever taking the plunge. Picked up the new album and went to see him at Shepherds Bush in London. A revelation! It's been a while since I've seen someone with as much onstage magnetism - so laid back but such a charming and charismatic front man. Band were fantastic, note perfect but loose in all the right ways. Very impressed - Devendra looks every inch the rock star. So much variety too - shades of Bolan, Ferry even the Scissor Sisters along with some great bluesy psych rock and the pretty quiet stuff. Also the trendiest crowd I think I'v

Saw NY's The Antlers last night at Bush Hall in Shepherds Bush (just round the corner from the SB Empire). Very impressed, they looked at home in the grand ornate old hall with huge chanadeliers hanging from the ceiling. Guitar, drums and keyboards (no bass but didn't miss it such was the cacophony tumbling from the keyboard player). Epic yet arty - shades of Grizzly Bear, Jeff Buckley and even My Bloody Valentine. Couldn't help noticing though that one of the tracks off their 'Hospice' album entitled 'Two' sounds alot like 'A Perfect Sonnet' by Bright Eyes and I can't for the life of me t

Live Webcast from Amsterdam: Monday, November 16

Got hardly any volume here in the UK - breaking up too and sounds one-legged. Shite! -
Yep, was at all three gigs in the UK this summer/autumn-winter. Without a doubt Forum was the pick of the three. Great to see Tweedy so 'up for it' again, lost a bit of weight and is on fire at the moment. By the way great review above in The Indy. Always though Andy Gill who wrote it was the Andy Gill from Gang Of Four, but not the case apparently. A different one.

Not sure it was a curfew cut off. The power only seemed to be off on Pat's side of the stage and they tried to fix it for minute or so. Jeff then said something about not being able to finish the set then dashed off into the wings for another minute or so while the crowd booed, only to return with one of his acoustic guitars and lean over the front of the stage to give us his unplugged version of SES (you could hear him fine from in front of the mixing desk where I was but was probably a bit of a strain further back under the balcony) By the way, I reckon over half the set was different from

On the subject of requests was expecting Say You Miss Me as this won the most votes on the website - shame, would love to have heard that. As you say, lot of Americans there last night, normal though, I guess, as this is London. Amazing too how much Jeff has changed his onstage persona playing here. Used to be very uptight for some reason (possibly because London crowds are hard to please). That said, some people used to like going to Wilco gigs just to wind him up. It made for quite a spectacle when the old Tweedy venom got going and added to the entertainment value. Much happier in his ow

Never seen Tweedy so relaxed as he was tonight. Very quiet for first ten songs or so but then never shut up. Amazing end - power failure before they got the chance to play Outtasite and Monday (which were scheduled according to Stan) so we got Someone Else's Song solo acoustic and without power to finish off. Thought it was gonna be Acuff Rose for a moment there but great nonetheless. Setlist in order: Ashes... 8.30 would be great but I got 9 off the guy at Nonesuch in London. Sounds about right too

Wilco on at 9pm - curfew at 11 usually. Let's hope we get plenty of variety from thew Troxy show in August. Interesting choice in the lead in the requests section on the website - Say You Miss Me. Would certainly settle for that. And Kamera, Misunderstood, Magazine, PKB, Reservations.......(and I vote for Spiders to be rested just this once!)

Letters to Santa Living Room Show '09
keeprighton2 replied to cracked doormoon's topic in Just A Fan
Good idea - have one over here? Anyone else up for it if it could be arranged? -
Saw them in a little backroom of a pub in Winchester, England about a year ago. About 50 people standing around watching them and they were charming. Pat has a better voice then you might think - blue eyed soul. Nice small gig, was chatting to both of them in the bar and picked up the latest CD off the little table at the back of the room. John even recommended which one to buy and thanked me for it. Very humble guy.

Top drawer harmonies and great tunes. They've taken a big leap last few months especially as the record is being played on places like BBC 6 Music. They're suddenly headlining The Forum in London, same venue Wilco are playing on Nov 4th. Impressive step forward. But you can hear why. Great record.

Kicking up a bit of a storm over here. English renegade folkies led by a 22 year-old from Middle England who sounds like he's been gargling Jack Daniels for twice that time - you'd swear they're from the American south. Babbling banjos and gaining a big live rep right now. Just released debut album - it's pretty good. Loving 'Awake My Soul' and 'Little Lion Man' but it's strong right through the 12 tracks. Watch 'em fly!

struggling to get there, but I hear it's been good.... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/rockandpopreviews/6254212/Mott-the-Hoople-Hammersmith-Apollo-review.html#

Anyone else agree that the live Collins version of 'Cinema Show' on 'Seconds Out' is way better than the Gabriel studio original. Not so much the vocal, but the long keyboard solo is just amazing - sonically so much betteer than the underwhelming (in comparison) studio recording.

Yep, out for a while. You could alweays flog him and get Christain 'Chucho' Benitez instead! He's gonna be good.
