  1. I never considered the Jayhawks as essential. In fact, I just considered them boring. Not trying to ruffle any feathers, just my humble opinion.

    yeah, i'm with paul b

i don't dislike the jayhawks and occasionally enjoy them as background music

    listenable ... just boring & completely non-essential ...

    almost muzak-ish

but ya know, nice harmonies and arrangements ... pleasant enough stuff

  2. Anyone have a copy of the webcast from XRT? Id love to hear this beautiful show again

  3. Guided by Voices- Universal Truths and Cycles (they opened a summer 2002 show in Athens, GA by playing the entire album)

i saw them the same tour & it was magical

i had never heard any of the songs but it rocked the world

christian animation freaking torch carriers & storm vibrations ... cheyenne ... what an amazing record

shame pollard's last 10 or 12 record have like 2 or 3 good songs on 'em

bob should get GBV together for a once a year album run through ... how great would it be to hear b000 today with tobin sprout and the old band ...

  4. Why are they not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with (Rush, Cat Stevens, Doobies, Yes, Chicago, Tull, Cars, Cheap Trick, Moody Blues) some more then others and some others to add as well.....But just gets me steamed when John Mellencamp is in and those are not.

an absolute mockery that Yes and Genesis are not in

both astonishingly inventive (supper's ready ... close to the edge) ... both enjoyed later commercial success (follow you, follow me, etc ... owner of a lonely) ... both survived massive personnel changes to enjoy later creative peaks (trick of the tail, wind & wuthering ... going for the one, etc.) ... both got huge contributions from numerous band members (banks as important to the songwriting process as gabriel, plus hackett, rutherford & collins very active writers as well ... howe, squire, had as much to do with the writing as anderson) ... both un-freaking-believable live ...

two of the best bands ever

tell me who has ever had superior seven-disc runs than yes / time & a word / yes album / fragile / edge / topographic / going for the one / or trespass / foxtrot / cryme / lamb / trick / wind & wuth / and then there were 3

    mind-blowing

yeah, let's put johnny cougar in

    travesty

  5. I had a request for the July 18, 1972, show at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City, so I figured may as well share the sendspace links, in case anyone else wants it. This may take a while -- massive show -- but have fun!

  7. Bruce Springsteen --- Lucky Town

The backlash from Bruce dismissing the E Street Band combined with the Over produced LA sound of Human Touch (released on the same day as LT) led to this gem being somewhat dismissed. Guitars galore, Personal and intimate songs and production that doesn't get in the way of the songs.

The 92 tour and band were unfairly criticized. This was a very good backing band and a really energetic tour.

    absolutely agree

  8. You have EVERY '72 show? Damn! :cheers

    PM on the way!

yeah, they did a '72 project in eight huge files in the spring, so i picked up some massive external hard drive and downloaded 'em all

any specific shows you're desperate to have, let me know

it might take me a while, but i'll get 'em to ya
