  1. UIC. Too bad - sound isn't great, but it could be a big party. Hope they go for at least some GA.

The announcement said $39.50 for both reserved seats and main floor GA.

Also side note: UIC Pavilion capacity: 10,000 according to the Ticketmaster seating chart

  2. I do agree about Sears Center, but it's so far from downtown and books such a small number of decent shows I don't even think about it.

Saw this about the Sears Center last week:

Hoffman Estates village officials are in talks to take over the 11,000-seat Sears Centre, where revenue at the almost three-year-old arena isn’t meeting expectations, the Daily Herald reported on Tuesday. The $60-million stadium is 75% owned by Ryan Cos., the developer, while Sears owns 25% and pays $1 million a year for naming rights. Village officials confirm the talks and say they hope to hire a national management firm, the newspaper reports. The development agreement with Ryan gives the village the right to take over the arena if ownership defaults on a $50-million loan backed by taxpayers. The stadium’s executive director Jeff Bowen tells the newspaper there’s been no default and that the owners have paid all operating expenses.

So not sure how attractive a venue that would be for anyone right now.

  3. i think that knowing that the rain was on its way

they should have bumped connor completely

or they should have shortened his set to 4 or 5 tunes

    what a waste....

especially once his band left and he did another song alone

    come on buddy

    lets get a move on

That's a pretty dickish thing to say. Conor's great and deserved the full time he and his band were there for.

What was the song he did with just him and Nate?

  4. What was up with the Pork Chop and Ce-le-ry yelling? Is this a Wilmington, DE thing or related to the stadium? No idea...

I still can't believe Jeff actually ate a bite of the celery that someone threw on stage--yucky! And he asked for more! =)

Not sure about pork chop but Mr Celery is the mascot of that stadium's minor league team.

  5. The Things They Carried is what got me into studying the Vietnam War. Amazing book. Been captivated by all things about that war ever since.

I wasn't even through the first chapter and I thought, "Kim has to read this!" :lol

    :yay

    So true!

I'm hoping this John Coltrane book that I'm reading now will turn things around. If not, I know Salinger's Nine Stories will.

Salinger!! :thumbup You know my feelings on that. :lol

  6. Maybe I'm crazy, but I'm considering trying to go to this show. I've always wanted to see a show at Red Rocks. :dancing

I have been thinking this same thing. Work's already giving me a 3-day weekend...

  7. My impression was that they mailed it in tonight, kids. Ashes and PKB were a treat, as always...and Dylan's Beard was a very nice surprise. But the encores were Wilco by numbers - very stock list of tunes.

I agree with this for the first part of the show, but I still danced up a storm with that killer encore that obviously erased my memory of earlier stuff. :lol

I was telling Wendy that A Shot in the Arm and one other song that I can't remember now felt very reserved. And did you notice that Jeff did the "conductor cuing the band to end the song" bit a lot tonight? I don't think I've ever seen him do that, and it happened 4 or 5 times tonight before I stopped paying attention to it.

Oh! Also loved Jeff's comments about the people up front who were texting the whole time: "Put the Twitter boxes away." But then he admitted they wouldn't be Twittering because they're young hip students and "Twitter is so January." :lol

And the rather profound statement (I think to the guy taking tons of pics? Someone with a better memory than me?) about how you think you've done so much great stuff but all your best thinking has only led you to this moment, so just enjoy it for what it is, because later you'll kick yourself if you miss it.

  8. No new song, it was Bob Dylan's Beard. And yes, 35 nothings!! :worship

Jeff tried to do the windmill in "I'm a Wheel" but he's no Pat. :yay

And of course Kingpin --> Hoodoo Voodoo --> I'm a Wheel killed me. Some people around here have seen what those songs do to me... :dancing :dancing :dancing :dancing :dancing :dancing

...and all in a row, holy shit!! So happy to have made this my brother's first Wilco show!
