  1. Why? I haven't wavered, myboyflippant.

    Dude,

    Who cares?

Disappointed? I'm sure. So was I when we missed out in Duluth. Them's the breaks man! that's friggin life. Take it easy! You'll see em again. The simple fact that they're playing SNL is a testimony to their continued existence.

    But again:

    Who cares?

These are guys who are devoted to their fans in a way I have never seen in a band before, and, considering all the benefits that these guys do when they could be making boatloads of money just doing their thing, should be considered before we criticize them for doing something that might help boost their career (ie. more shows).

    We feel for ya man!

    Take it easy!

    Have patience

It will all turn out in the end.

    We can make it better...

  2. I'm struck by how the (semi-)anonymity of the internet affects situations like this.

    1. It emboldens people who otherwise would have been left whining to their girlfriends and the few others unfortunate enough to be within earshot to enter a forum like this and not just complain about a rescheduled show, but to slag off the band itself and go on rants about how they're screwing over their fans.

    2. It prevents me from laughing in all of those people's faces at how ridiculous they're being. Seriously, if we were all in a bar, and some of you were going on like you are in this thread, I wouldn't be able to control my laughter. There are people in the world with real problems. Stop being such spoiled brats.

    Amen

BTW did u notice the name?

  3. Wow this is a mini-VW blow up. they haven't played Richmond in 11 years, but if I was in the same boat as Charleston, I would understand it completely and totally. To me this is a non-issue, they rescheduled immediately, and its a major opportunity to promote an album that has already been out for quite awhile. As for their not sending out a personal statement that's ridiculous. The band themselves probably had little say in the matter and they have actually played for three nights in a row. I'm sure it will be acknowledged during the makeup show and they'll play 38 songs.

    sell outs

    sell outs!

    now I hate them!

I'll never stand in line with awesome people again to hear sweet music, the bastards!

Oh yeah, and what the hell happened to Conan? Eff'n sell outs!

    Chicken Pox my arse!

Where is my Foo Fighters collection...?

    :monkey

  4. Took mine in to be framed on Saturday. I am having each framed separately--but I will hang them side-by-side. This will cost a pretty penny--but still will be less expensive than one big frame. (Why, I am not certain. The folks at the frame shop tried to explain it to me. Something about a bulk discount when you have 5 or more things framed at once.)

I feel like a moron. I just realized that the Being There guitar is across the posters, after reading the above post.

what are the dimentions of a full framming w/ matting in beween. I know of a cottage place near where I live. I could get a quote for you guys if you want. He's done other stuff for me and I was supprised by the low cost and high quality.

I guess I should tell my wife what I have planned

  5. Alright! CO Bands... a short list as I'm better at naming Chicago bands.

    John Denver

    String Cheese Incident

    Yonder Mountain String Band

    Hot Rise

Townes Van Zandt has a lot of history in my local area.

    Opie Gone Bad

    Leftover Salmon

If anyone else knows any Colorado bands I'd love to hear them... I'm not that knowledgeable except about Bluegrass, which I don't wanna talk about all day.

Also chicago people, you're forgetting Earth, Wind, and Fire.

    16 horsepower?

  6. Hey ya, I was looking at that too. I was assuming that it's a TRS jack, and that it is there to recognize the signals from each pickup, but if it was only one pickup that you had wired in stereo, that would be great as well. I'm sure it would work regularly for one channel if you only have one pickup also. Options are endless I guess.

That sucks you had to take the train all the way past Howard. I used to do that every day for work, it was brutal unless I got the Purple Line Xpress at Belmont. Jam sessions before shows would be great, or after...

Well the train ride out was a TRIP. I had to go back into the loop and jump on the brown got to the red and the to the purple. wheeew! and the ride melloed me out.

But on the way back I crashed out on the EL and drooled on my guitar case. I think I woke myself up by snoring because when I awoke all these people around me were laughing at me.

    ?

  7. I was one of the first people in line at the residency this past week. I brought my guitar down to Chicago in anticipation that I would run into some playahs...but alas I found none who could jam.

I think we need to coordinat some WILCO fan jam/singalong/openstage...something

    What do you think?

or has this already been tried ANALOGMAN?

    :D

  8. Not bad:

    That is realy nice

I've been thinking of the same thing (and I'm sure this has been thought of before), but my wife and I have been attendig these folk music jams once a week, where we all get in a circle and call a tune as our turn comes around. We sing and play mostly folk but all is welcome. Anyhoo, Ive been thinking of converting some punk to folk and vice versa. It should be a fun exercise.

I also like doing Gear Daddies, and Replacement/Westerberg songs. thats always nice.

If any of you are ever going to a show and want to jam prior or after i'd be in...

    yeah

  9. I found it!

haha......this is hilarious, I started a forum topic, only to force myself to search and search more! :)

At any rate...it's made by Pendulum Audio:

    http://www.pendulumaudio.com/SPS-1.html

It's basically a ridiculous preamp system, for the best control over your acoustic possible. Fantastic! The "black box" I've been talking about is the Preamp Module for Pickup/Pickup combinations (far left in the picture from the website). Basically it is used to blend the two pickups I mentioned previously in this thread. My question now is...I saw him go to that all night, no matter which acoustic (and there were quite a few) he was using. Every time he'd plug that preamp into whatever acoustic was brought out. Obviously the guitars aren't all wired the same though, so I'm not sure how they have it setup exactly.

Glad I got to the bottom of this though! I wonder if you can just use one of the Preamp Modules by itself, without the use of the rack gear. Guess there's still a little research to do.

If anybody has any experience with this, let me know!

    Nice detective work!

I don't have any experience ...but looking at the 1/4 inch on the end, it seems to have stereo notches (?) so maybe it worls with the one pick up set up with out a stereo connection, and vice versa

    you dig?

BTW (maybe this should be a new thread) I thought I was going to meet a lot more people who played at the residency. I had to EL all the way to evenston to jam on sunday night. There should ba a guitar jam sing along get together prior to or after shows.

    Don't you think?
