  1. My biggest regret from these shows is that I did not pick up one of those sweet StL Brown knock off Wilco Caps!!! DAMMIT!!! :realmad

    I love mine. :dancing

i didn't put two and two together that you (who we hung with in line) and oceanman are one and the same person.

Don't feel bad. He pulled that schtick on me at the KC show last fall. That's the way he works.

Haha..it sure beat sitting next to ol' Jerry Garcia / Kenny Rogers in the first row of stools, though no knocks to that gentleman, he was quite the nice guy. The gambler!

    That dude could dance!

I kid you not - I'm such a damn girl that, while listening to "Jesus, Etc." today in my car, I started to fucking cry. I miss last weekend and all you people.

  2. Someone told me Michael's has good deals on framing too....apparently I should start reading the newspaper so I can cash in on some coupons. People keep telling me there is important stuff in those things.

I only bought the Sunday paper to see if the Belleville News-Democrat mentioned the triumphant sold-out three-night-stand of its native son (it didn't) and if it had Ben's coupons. However, all the framers at Ben's recognize me and they're nice about giving me a head's up on when they're running specials.

And as far as the inappropriate comment about 'Chunks' the dog... I just dont get how you can name a Shitzuh 'Chunks'. That dog has to have psychological problems. I hope my memory is right and the dog is a Shitzuh.

I can't think of a better name for any dog than Chunks.

  3. have 3 posters signed which will cost me dearly in framing costs,

Ben's in Belleville runs 50% off custom frame specials fairly often. I expected to see a coupon for one in Sunday's paper because of Art on the Square. It'll probably be next week. I've had all of my Wilco show prints done there. They do an awesome job and I've never paid more than $70.

Thanks guys..now I am hooked on 3 night stands (one night stands just dont cut it)

You're inappropriate in public with new people and jump right in with the pervy euphemisms on the board. Yep, you're one of us. :thumbup

    "...what kind of dog?"

I'm sad that I missed that! :rotfl

  4. I think this might have to become the official Meat smilie :boff

I cracked up after the show when he said "Nobody would dance with me, so I had to go all Billy Idol and dance with myself."

I'm in a public place right now, dammit, and I'm about to cry because otherwise I'd be howling with laughter over this! Oh my cod, I might pass out! :rotfl

:lol It was more like Meat would put his arm around Brad and they'd jump and air guitar together, and I got caught in the arm hold. My neck is really sore.

I got to see a lot of that and it was fucking hilarious!

Meat is one of a kind. No doubt about it.

  5. Was there some significance to the band playing Misunderstood all three nights? I seem to remember there was a bit of criticism directed at the band not playing STL enough. Wasn't there some preposterous open letter to the band in a newspaper?

I requested "Misunderstood" for the first night because I'm a smart ass and thought it's be a great way for Jeff to come home. :) That, and I love the song.

Not even a tiny little bit disappointed with the shows, repeats or not.

Met some awesome folks, had a great time before and after the shows, and 2+ hours each night of a show that is so enjoyable that you're suprised when it's done.

And you planned your bourbon tour with your new girlfriend! :thumbup

  6. Pineapple bangs! Pineapple bangs!

Like me, you obviously had a lot of power at your school, Tam. Bang height = power. Everyone loves power. Everyone loves cake. And everyone loves really really tall bangs. :thumbup

:cheekkiss That Facebook photo makes me want to figure out how to use my scanner and post a picture in tall hair solidarity.

  7. I just re-read my blog entry, since Kim couldn't find reference to the dog-whistler. I didn't mention her on the blog at all, but that's where she chose to make her opinions known. They're here (comments #9 and 10), and the offending photo is here.

By all means, feel free to express your thoughts to her in the blog comments. :thumbup

  8. Yep, she commented on my blog. At least I think. It's someone named Tam who reamed me for saying mean things about her on Flickr and in my blog. At first I thought it was our Tam and I couldn't figure out what the hell was happening.

I haven't posted the comments on my blog yet (the spam filter caught them), but I'll put them up now. Like I said, I'm not 100% sure, but I can't figure out who else it would be, as that's the only person I said anything negative about.

  9. :thumbup I'm just giving you shit. Regardless of it being played beforehand, Jeff has said it was a song for his Dad.

For some reason my bullshit radar is always broken when you're concerned. :cheekkiss

In other obnoxious concert-goer news, I have apparently angered the dog-whistler from Friday night by things I said on my blog and Flickr. I'm doing good! :thumbup

  10. Ahhh, I knew it was something not-sauerkraut. And have you seen Tam's facebook pic? Something tells me she's got some perms in her past. :cheekkiss

I didn't want to be the one to mention that. :shifty

As long as I'm not on one of my adventures (there aren't many planned this summer), my home is always open for curly-headed gatherings. I'm good n' central.

  11. Not even a little.

I will admit that I'm a bit tired of hearing some of the SBS stuff, since there are some songs I've heard at the six shows I've seen since September. That's just the talk of a spoiled brat, though. I was just fine with the repeats. Listen to "Misundstood" live three nights in a row? Hell yeah! :thumbup

  12. I know just the event, too!

Great Lakes Brew Fest or I think Robin has a lead on a festival in Indiana... what was it, a sauerkraut one? :yay Anyway, it takes place beneath the beautiful pollution-billowing towers of northwest Indiana. :ermm

Not sauerkraut. Pierogies! :thumbup I think we'd do better with beer. Perhaps Kate and Tam can look into getting perms before then so they'll blend in with us.

I was just thinking today how lucky I feel to live in the midwest (doesn't happen often :lol), if for no other reason than the 2 Wilco shows I got to see last week, both for the amazing shows and the people I got to hang with.

I've always said that my favorite part about living in the St. Louis area is you can escape in just about any direction and hit another city within five hours. :) You can do a lot of fun shit with five hours' notice.

  13. That big group shot is missing you, though!! Siiiiiiiigh. Next time...

I met M Chris and Clouds and they were every bit as sweet and wonderful and amazing as I thought they'd be!! :wub

Oh Elizabeth! You definitely needed to be there! Kim and I tried to carry on the curly-haired duties, but it's hard to do with 1/3 of the group missing.

I knew M Chris and Clouds would get tickets, just because how could two such incredibly sweet people be denied?

I'm going to change my name to Chunks

That was me. :thumbup I think my husband wants to be adopted by your family.

    Robin,

Where is the picture of me that you took to send to Jen? I need it too, to add to my pregnant collection.

It was on my hard drive because I forgot to upload it. :) Here it is, along with the group shot that really shows off Lyric. I'll email bigger versions to you so you can print them.

It was great to get to meet so many VCers over the last few days! Hopefully our paths will cross again soon, and the shows will be as amazing as these last three were. My head is still spinning!

I think you have a Nels story you need to share with the group, young lady. :shifty Are you going to Montreal?

I'm missing everyone in a big, big way today.

  14. It's been said before, but bears repeating: Wilco peoples is good people. :thumbup I thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of you, although I'm wishing I could place more faces and names now. Never has three days of line-standing been so much damn fun! :)

I love that while I was peeing, I could tell from the conversation in the bathroom that Laurie, Hoback Jct. and Cathy were in the restroom, and that they had no problems with me yelling, "Hey! Are you Laurie from Boston? I'm Poppydawn!" Nothing like hanging out in the john and gossiping with new internet friends long enough to make everyone wonder if I fell in. :thumbup
