  1. My mother cares not one whit about Wilco. This is a good thing, because it means I always have a babysitter for my kid when I go to shows. No way am I going to jeopardize that. In fact, I might play her some Gwar and tell her it's Wilco, just to be on the safe side.

  2. Just added "Drop City" to my list.

    Currently reading:

The subject is interesting enough to keep me reading (woman adopting a child from Vietnam, ruins marriage with Vietnam vet husband, befriends Vietnamese immigrant in the process). The writing's pretty stilted, though. I just finished books by Richard Russo and Tom Perrotta, so I think just about any book is going to seem stilted after that.

  3. I always participate. Always.

I even sang the song under my breath a few years ago when my then-two-year-old daughter projectile vomited all over herself, me, the cart, and the floor at the Pekin, Illinois Wal-Mart during a long road trip. While I probably looked completely insane, I'm pretty sure the vomit-covered singing and clapping while escaping Wal-Mart is what kept me from having a total mental collapse. Thanks, Jeff!

    I wanna be your kingpin

    Puking in Pekin.

My kid caught the flu and away we flew.

  4. Jeff - While I like the idea of him being the pissed off UPS guy, I think he'd own part interest in this shop.

John - Something touchy-feely. Perhaps a counselor who discourages you from engaging in stinkin' thinkin'.

Mike - Since he was an engineer prior to joining the band, I'm going to stick with that.

Glenn - I'm going with the high school teacher option. He's the band director that all the band nerds crush on.

    Nels - Lab assistant.

    Pat - Man whore.

  5. It's just not right that the Casino Queen is no longer a boat. Makes me a little sad when I drive past it. Although the boat's for sale. You know, in case any of you need a riverboat...

I spent the day after my 21st birthday sitting on the third deck (outside), having lost my money downstairs, cruising down the river and partaking in the cheap drinks. That was fun.

Oh boy, this sounds like trouble. And I mean that in the best way possible. Hopefully I'm 100% healthy by then and can drink at full speed again. (Getting mono as an adult has been just about the worst thing ever!)

I hear that PBR with sidecars of Maker's Mark kills the mono virus.

  6. Would you be speaking of the O'Fallon Rick's Place? If so, I too can appreciate the hole-in-the-wall crappiness of this fine establishment. Where else can you buy a can of Busch beer for $1.25 out of a wash tub?

That would be the place! I'm fancy, though. I bypass the washtub cans of Busch in favor of the bottles of PBR. I always spend more money at the jukebox than on beer at Rick's. I love that I can spend under $20 for a night of great music and a pretty steady buzz.

I also love that one of the bartenders told me where I can find moonshine in Fairview Heights.
