  1. Btw, my sources tell me that drunken frat boy dude was only going up on stage to ask Jeff to vary the setlist a little more from night to night.
  2. I voted for the Wookie-tar. To see which image people thought I should use as my avatar. We're getting off-topic here, though. This thread is to celebrate El Famous' birthday from last July.
  3. I didn't. I just kinda stumbled across it as the guy from Squeeze was doing his intro bit...plus we're so untechnically savy that I don't even think I can record to VHS (and we don't have a DVR/Tivo deal). I think they're running those BBC things all week - maybe it'll play again. P.S. It is very, very good. Super raw and sloppy, in a good way. The drummer really impressed me, too.
  4. Thanks for voting, everyone. The cat wins.
  5. Tonight, after work, I'm going to create a Lego diorama of this incident based on an amalgam of the various interweb reports. When finished, it will be the definitive account of what really happened, and I will be willing to donate it to charity or the rock and roll hall of fame or maybe even the Smithsonian.
  6. That guy said some awful things about me this morning. [quote name='Đ
  7. As a matter of fact, I didn't. I'm implying that he is an asshole (and a good shot).
  8. When I was a kid, I jumped on stage and a Captain and Tennille show and the Captain shot me in the neck with a harpoon gun. True story.
  9. Rakim is still a bad motherfucker. And Mike D does not look healthy.
  10. I was just forwarded a serious contender as a write-in nominee:
  11. Last night I watched some of the VH1 hip hop honors thing (up through Rakim, who was the main reason I watched), and then a GREAT live Faces show from the BBC on VH1 classic. I have two major questions/comments... 1. At what point did Mike D morph into an anorexic version of C. Thomas Howell's Soul Man character? 2. Rod Stewart just might be the biggest waste of talent on the planet (since the mid 70's).
  12. For the most part, I prefer old Wilco to new Wilco. That being said, if I was going to pay $50 or whatever it costs to see them these days, I'd much rather they play songs that excite/interest/challenge/whatever them than having them play a handful of songs off of AM that bore them to tears. I've watched bands that seem bored before, and without fail it pretty much sucked. I'm guessing if they were really excited by the prospect of playing "Pick Up the Change" every night, they'd be playing "Pick Up the Change" every night. Or something.
  13. I should point out that this is a binding poll, and will run for 24 hours. Please vote wisely and often.
  14. This can only be settled by a Today's Poll.
  15. I don't think I'm going to be able to keep the monkey-tar much longer anyway. It's a major part of the carlos brand, and its use by non-carlos entities really just cheapens the whole thing.
  16. I don't go to shows much anymore, so quite frankly it doesn't bother me at all.
  17. Counterpoint: I'm really quite smitten bymy new little monkey friend!
