  1. In the 90s, my friends and I simply referred to him as "The Taper Guy" and we knew that, if we saw him set up at the soundboard at a show we were attending, we were in the right place that night! He recorded more than 10,000 shows in Chicago over the years, and his collection is finally being made available online. Read about it HERE. And access the whole collection (what's been made available so far) HERE. I cannot wait to comb through this stuff. Any fans of 80s-90s indie rock (and into the 00s), you need to do the same. I am certain that I was at man
  2. Great little EP from a KC band that featured future members of The Coctails.
  3. Totally understand. I do not get to as many shows as I would like to either.
  4. My draw: not great. But not terrible for a 54-year-old suburbanite playing a Wednesday night in the city. I think that I played pretty well. Got a lot of good feedback, including from one of the other artists on the bill who asked me if he could cover one of my songs. Always flattering! Hope to do it again soon; either at the Montrose or someplace else. (But I do love The Montrose.) And hopefully on a weekend.
  5. It's tonight, if you can make it! Hope to see some of you there - no cover and I go on early. Montrose Saloon is a great place, if you have not been there before. The room sounds great, they have a great jukebox when the live music isn't going, and it's just a good vibe.
  6. This is 2 days away. I hope to see some of you there!
  7. There is never a bad time for TSAC
  8. An old song from one of my 90s bands. Lyrics are just me playing with words. Not much else. But if you can pull some deeper meaning from it, let me know! https://soundcloud.com/poptodd/sub-rosa-3-out-of-4?si=1da73dd90c1f43fcbede142f5bada697&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing
  9. Here is the FB event if any of you Chicagoans want to respond: https://www.facebook.com/events/859320083072643 Would love if you came and introduced yourselves.
  10. Been listening to this for 10-15 years now. Love this record. And, coincidentally, found out that one of the members of this NJ-based band moved to Chicago and went on to help form The Embryos, a great local band, here! Such a weird, wonderful, random thing.
  11. Tonight... Sessa at Sleeping Village
  12. I know it's been a while since I've posted here regularly, but I'm excited to have my first gig since before COVID hit. So far, all I know is that it will be Weds. Nov. 20 at the Montrose Saloon. I'll share more details as I get them. I do hope that some of you (whoever still hangs around here) will be able to swing by. Would love to see you - or meet you! EDIT: Here is a link to the Facebook event if you want to respond and have a reminder: https://www.facebook.com/events/859320083072643
  13. The newest from Klaus Johann Grobe.
  14. I was lucky enough to catch him and The Chills a few years back when they played The Empty Bottle in Chicago. And yes, he and the band were still making music every bit as good as their 80s peak output. Terrible loss. He was in good spirits this night, though.
