Agreed! Noice.

Okay, maybe as a newbie, I might be crossing the line here, but what the hell? (By the way, please tell me if I am or do...) Uncle Tupelo - Halloween, 1989 (Blue Note, Columbia, MO): A month or so before No Depression was even released. One of the shows that "changed my life". Wilco - Their first-ever show, 1994 (Lounge Ax, Chicago, IL): Yeah, their first-ever show was my 2nd show of the evening. I went to the Ax rght from seeing Pegboy at The Vic. Jeff played the forst half of the show solo/acoustic. I dug it, but was not totally blow away. Oh, what perspective does history bring? Repla

I have the first solo album and, while it's good, it is not pulling me back or anything.

Son Volt, and.... Uncle Tupelo! (Original trio, please.)

As with all lists, this is malleable, changeable, and in other ways imperfect, but here goes (In no particular order):

new Ray Davies - Working Man's Cafe
PopTodd replied to Vancouver Skyline's topic in Someone Else's Song
And I still don't live in Englandland. But I will check out the tunes on MySpace. Oh, and I liked the last album, but wasn't as blown away by it as I hoped that I would be. -
So, NONE of these bands are mine, although some are my friends. (Is that okay?). I'm sure that some of you know some of these guys, but hopefully you'll find some new ones here, too. I'm surious to know what you think of them, once you listen (if you listen). Hope that you dig 'em. Happy Ashtray - A guy that I went to Jr. High and High School with. He just happens to be a brilliant songwriter/musician/producer. Tom Z

And how? Judas Priest - Point Of Entry Inspired me to start playing the guitar. Meat Puppets - Up On the Sun Showed me that there was great music out there beyond what was being played on the radio. The Replacements - Pleased To Meet Me "Well, maybe I won't be a great guitar player; but maybe I can write songs?" Uncle Tupelo - No Depression "I definitely want to write songs! And, you know what? Country music can actually be pretty cool!" Brian Eno - Another Green World Showed me that there is more to the musical world than just guitar-based music. Tom Z

Being There one of GQ 50th's "22 albums that changed men's lives"

It's a list. -
My favorite Beatles song changes daily. Today, it's probably "She Said, She Said".
-
Well, that Rush thing: I don't hate them, just listening to their music. Geddy Lee actually seems like a very cool guy. I have that same issue with Dave Matthews; seems like a cool guy, I just don't like his music.
-
That was obvious from the start. And thanks for the welcome.

I was there, too. That is where I met Louie and Wendy. In fact he, my wife, and I were the ones who got yelled at for trying to sneak into the green room. Oh well. I have yet to hear the record, but I do like the sound of the new songs from the acoustic versions that I heard the other night. My missus really liked them and is probably on her way to the store now to go buy it.

I listen to too much to list it all, but new to me this month that I am really diggin' on is: King Khan and The Shrines - What Is? Garage-psych-R&B-Punk For fans of: The Dirtbombs, 13th Floor Elevators, Syd's Floyd. And Tom Z

Yes, production can completely screw up a really great song. But a weak song will always be a weak song. Good production can make it more interesting, but it will still be a weak song and won't stand up to repeated listens.

What's your favourite alcoholic drink? -just a good beer, please AC/DC or Black Sabbath? -depends on the era of each. Ha! It is like that, isn't it? We broke up, so we don't play anymore. And, I'm a dad, so I rarely play anywhere of note anymore. But, thanks for asking. When does YOUR band play next?

As a lifelong, sad, pathetic Cubs fan (is that redundant?), I couldn't care less.

Ray Davies may be, pound-for-pound, a better songwriter than either Lennon or McCartney. Okay, I'm no whimp. He is.

Anyway, I guess that, since this is the Wilco-only form, I'll start at the beginning: I was in attendance at Wilco's first-ever show at Lounge Ax, back in 1994. I was also a student at Mizzou and saw UT before No Depression came out (Halloween, 1989). (Is that still Wilco-related?) But I'm not bragging, just starting at the top. Hi. Oh yeah, and I came here because I met Louie B and Wendy at the Steve Earle show at Martyr's last night.

Hello. My name is Todd and I am a music addict. I met Louie B and Wendy last night at the Steve Earle show at Martyr's and thought that I'd register here. I already post at too many other boards, but, you know, I'm an addict. Today I'm listening to this: The Wolfgang Press - Queer My Bloody Valentine - Loveless Magnetic Fields - The Charm Of the Highway Strip Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea Various - A Matter Of Degrees (OST) Nice to meet you.
