  1. I loved Gish. And I think that, musically, a lot of the SP stuff is really good and interesting. I just don't like his voice. His singing sounds like a baby with colic at 3 a.m. (But the voice works when there's layers of guitars around it.)
  2. Keep it simple: "I'm always in love."
  3. Love me some Tex. I think that he could be a little too politically INcorrect for these times, though. Still, the guy's a genius. Along with the old Warner Brothers cartoons, those were the best there were.
  4. That 70's Show Just about every night before I go to bed.
  5. Naked Raygun It appears that they have re-formed, at least for a little while. (They're playing RiotFest in Chicago this year.)
  6. Still, I do think that we owned this song. I play the second guitar... I took inspiration from Peter Hook (Joy Division/New Order bass player) in conceiving it. We had a tough time getting it together, but once I got my part in-line, it all fell in-place. I am very proud of it. http://spadekitty.com/media/rpb2.mp3 Moderator: please delete this thread if you think it's too promotional. Yeah, I'm bitter about being forced out, but I just listened to it today and was struck by how good it is.
  7. Listening right now to The Jim Carroll Band. Here (streaming audio): www.iacmusic.com/jimcarrollband I forgot how great he is. And yeah, nobody mentions him here. Another, newer band: The Format Great pop band from New Mexico. Here's a live video from MySpace: http://tinyurl.com/2eoah6 (I hope this link works.)
  8. I think that, even if it did alienate half their listening base, the whole Dixie Chicks flap actually earned them a whole new audience. I know that it was in the midst of all that hullabaloo that my wife decided to check them out. Just because if it all.
  9. 10/31: Frank Lenz - The Hot Stuff Jimi Hendrix - Axis: Bold As Love Johnny Cash - American V: A Hundred Highways The Arcade Fire - Funeral Belle & Sebastian - The Life Pursuit
  10. Yeux Sans Visage (Eyes Without A Face) Another creepy, mad scientist movie that is surprisingly graphic for its time.
  11. I love 'em both. The Di'Anno years were too short, although I suppose my favorite songs are with Di'Anno ("Running Free" and "Number Of the Beast"). He was more punk. But Bruce Dickinson was pretty damn good too, for the operatic metal thing.
  12. I think he wrote the script for Being John Malkovich, as well as directing it.
  13. Iron Maiden Judas Priest I do love Maiden and Priest, but seriously (for this board): Stray Cats Not that nobody here knows them, but how great were they? Brinsley Schwarz Nick Lowe's first big band had an amazing run in the early-mid 70's. And the live on the BBC collection that came out a couple of years ago shows that they were even more amazing live. "(What's So Funny About) Peace, Love, and Understanding?" was theirs before Elvis', after all.
  14. Now THIS could be really cool. Is In the Night Kitchen next?
  15. Freaks (1932) Starring actual circus sideshow performers. Ever wonder where The Ramones got "Gabba Gabba Hey!" Watch the movie. Genuinely creepy.
  16. No need to start calling names.
  17. I apologize for offending your sensibilities. Guess I just am used to boards with higher traffic and posting rates. In deference to this board, I will try to slow down a bit.
  18. Only heard parts of that one, but it's good. And the only "officially released" solo album -- Pacific Ocean Blue I have in its entirety and it IS damn good (if you can get past the 70's production). Other fans? Anyone have the entire Bamboo album?
  19. The NERVES! Thank you. I knew The Vapors didn't sound right.
  20. I believe it was The Vapors.
  21. All I know is that "Hanging On the Telephone" is great. http://www.sendspace.com/file/r9t4fe seriously.
