  1. You mean "Take On Me"? That was a-ha. Don't know anything else from them. But, in hindsight, that was a pretty cool song.
  2. I may have said this earlier in the thread, but I had brain surgery, so I'm allowed... Dexy's Midnight Runners Great band. So much more than "Come On, Eileen." Also... Trio "Da Da Da" is just the tip of the iceberg.
  3. Tyrone Davis ("Turn Back the Hands Of Time") Frederick Knight ("I've Been Lonely For So Long") Nick Lowe ("Cruel to Be Kind") -- at least in the US.
  4. Listening to this now. I was at this show and it was brilliant. So glad that it's been archived on YouTube by somebody. Hoping that it will be made available for download at some point.
  5. April, 1998 Lounge Ax, Chicago I was there and it was fantastic. Enjoy.
  6. Speaking of chord changes, that one, unexpected minor chord change in Mazzy Star's "Hallah". The first appearance of which shows up at about 0:44 Then again at 1:20. And a few other times during the song. Just one little change that rips my heart out.
  7. "Rocks Off" by The Rolling Stones: that single snare hit right during the intro of the song -- at 0:02!
  8. "For No One" by The Beatles: where the horn comes in from out of nowhere at 0:49, and again at 1:29.
  9. "Moanin'" by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers: those first couple of bent notes that kick off Lee Morgan's trumpet solo at 0:59
  10. "Middle of the Road" by The Pretenders: Chrissie's "Brrrrr NEYOW!!!!" that leads into the harmonica solo at 3:18 into the song.
  11. Maybe more punk than power pop, but it should still appeal to that part of you. Plus, it's just flipping' amazing. Especially considering this was from 1971. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0N9hTnxMJI&list=PLD7F1C7283F545FB5
