Bands you most want to see reunite -- where it IS possible.

Def. Especially if Andy could figure out a way to deal with his anxiety and get his ass back on stage! -

Yeah. I think that Jonathan has all but disowned all those early songs. He never plays them live, with the occasional little tease dropped into another song, here or there. -

Is that the Gene Ween thing? How is it?

Definitely would have remembered them. It was not them. What I do remember is that, when the band hit the stage they were more stoned than anybody I've ever seen standing up.

Free shows I saw were: Living Colour with Drivin' n' Cryin' (89) and Pixies with some opening act that I can't remember (91 or 92)

Thanks, lam! Yeah, "Here" seems to be the single-type song, I think. And UT definitely had a big influence on my writing… certainly on the more country-twinged stuff.

But they should be getting residuals from the sales of Nirvana Unplugged -- 3 songs on there should grab them a pretty chunk. I know that Nick Lowe having "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding" covered on The Bodyguard soundtrack made him a millionaire. And, while the Nirvana record didn't sell quite as much as said soundtrack, that was only 1 song compared to 3 tunes on the Nirvana record for the Pups. I'm sure that it's helped them get a little more comfortable.

Okay, so I am REALLY loving this! Elements of GBV, but with a more-modern, synth-infused sound. And there's another 90s indie band that I am hearing in there, too, but I can't put my finger on it -- or, rather, can't remember the name. I do have your first record and this is making me want to go back and put it on again. So I think I will, as soon as I finish the album that I paused to go check out these tunes. Great production on here, too. You record yourselves in your own space?

Typical me: I forgot to listen. Sorry about that. I had the best of intentions and am listening NOW. Will post thoughts as soon as I get through the tunes.

Perhaps a nuclear winter could counter the global warming.

I really wish that I was good at this stuff. I would love to be able to walk out my back door and pick the veggies for that evening's dinner.

OH! There was this St. Louis band, when I was in college at Mizzou in the late 80s/early 90s, called The Unconscious. I thought they were just awesome and I went to see them on multiple occasions at local club The Blue Note. It was the kind of white boy punk/funk that all the frat guys thought was pretty edgy back then. Listening now, it's just crap. This was their most-popular tune: http://www.reverbnation.com/theunconscious/song/15562535-bop-apocalypse

Sad to say, but Bob Mould - Workbook just does NOT hold up so well for me. And it is easy to pinpoint why: the production. So very much of its time… it sounds just like the early 90s AOR that it is. And, unfortunately, it's just dated. Not as timeless as I thought that it was at the time. Breaks my heart because I loved this album at the time. And, to be fair, the songs are still great. It's just that SOUND.

I will check it ASAP, lam. Looking forward to it!
