  1. The Jam - Direction Reaction Creation (disc 1) Shrimp Boat - Something Grand (disc 3)
  2. This is coming down tomorrow, if anyone is interested. RIYL: Eno, Aphex Twin with vocals, late-period Blur, Jesus and Mary Chain (or so I've been told). Oh, and marijuana.
  3. Neutral Milk Hotel - On Avery Island Belle & Sebastian - Tigermilk Guided By Voices - Alien Lanes Los Lobos - Kiko
  4. I may have posted an earlier version of this before, but it didn't come up in a search. And now I've remixed it and it just sounds right. so, this is just a teaser... I'm taking the song down on Tuesday until I actually release the album, proper. It's fun to get reactions. "Hey" http://iacmusic.com/songs.aspx?SongID=65293 Click the arrow at the top of the page. Hope you listen and you like.
  5. These are people who died Who died They were all my friends And they died. Just wanted to celebrate someone we don't talk about much. Bunch of Jim Carroll's tunes here for streaming: http://iacmusic.com/artist.aspx?ID=70352 Listening now and realizing that I need to replace my old, worn-out cassette.
  6. Wimple Winch - The Story Of Just Four Men Bob Dylan - Nashville Skyline Wire 154
  7. I'm black And I'm loud And I'm proud And I'm amped Most of my heroes don't appear on no stamps.
  8. The one album that I always did like was Nashville Skyline... certainly a sideline, itself. But absolutely accessible, too. And, I always found Freewheeling to be the most-accessible (moreso than Blood On the Tracks). But, agree to disagree we shall.
  9. As somebody who has always appreciated, but never really enjoyed Dylan, I have to disagree with your statement re: Blood On the Tracks. It was that album that recently converted me to a fan who actually enjoys his music. It just blew me away.
  10. Just got a short comp from a friend of mine and am really enjoying this. So, I thought that I would share the info with you. So much fun and if you are a fan of late-period Merseybeat and early British psychedelic, this is well-worth checking out.
  11. Just grabbed this and will be giving it a first listen tomorrow. Looking forward to it and was curious if any of y'all have heard of them and had any thoughts/opinions. I'll report back on Thurs.
  12. Me: www.obner.org and, on occasion, when I can stand the tenor of said board: www.hipinion.com (although that one is less and less about music and more about little kids trying to one-up each other. Still, when they do talk music, it can be fun.) You?
  13. John Cale - The Island Years The Judy's - Washarama Tonio K. - Life In the Foodchain Daniel Johnston - Why Me? (Live In Berlin) Andrew Bird - The Mysterious Production of Eggs
  14. Okay, so I mentioned Meat Puppets' "Six-Gallon Pie" before, but they also did another one of my favorites: "Maiden's Milk" complete with whisteling... in (bad) harmony! I wonder how high they were when they recorded that one?
  15. I bought No Depression the day that it came out, so I can probably account for my love of that one in the same way.
  16. Maybe not a surprise, but I miss: Frindle by Andrew Clement Yeah, it is a "kid's" book -- geared toward middle schoolers, really. But it's too much fun and it works for me as a "grown-up", too. Especially, as a lover of words.
  17. It wasn't "The Opener", but yeah, just one of the videos was all that I could see. Will it play like a CD on a regular CD player? And, when the music is good, the budget doesn't matter. The music is good.
  18. Wife was out over the weekend and heard these guys at a bar that we used to frequent. Got the names from the bartender. Anyone know anything about:
  19. funny. No Depression is my favorite. But yes, they are all great. I probably listen to March 16-20 the least, so it was nice to get that one into my ears today.
  20. As my DVD player is missing its remote, I was only able to check out the first tune because of the way the menu is set up. That said, I really like the song. And I really like your band. I will also be purchasing a new DVD player within the next month or so, so I will be able to dig in deeper. Thanks again.
  21. Uncle Tupelo - No Depression Uncle Tupelo - Still Feel Gone Uncle Tupelo - March 16-20, 1992 Uncle Tupelo - Anodyne It's a UT kinda day...
  22. Just needs to be seen before I go out and vote before anybody. A little perspective. Such a freaking great movie!
  23. This arrived today! WOW... fast, indeed! Thank you so much!
