  1. GIRLS ARE FOREVER - A compilation of—mostly—obscure girl group songs, assembled for me by a friend at work who is a bit of a girl group obsessive. Some great stuff on here that I had never heard before.

  3. UO were everywhere in Chicago in the 90s. I ran into those guys all over the place! I mean everywhere. They even popped into my band's rehearsal space one night when we were rehearsing. (Our drummer's roommate was friends with them.)

  5. Pretty much every Roky Erickson song I heard as a cover first, or at least every song that has a cover version appear on this fantastic tribute record, which I bought before ever hearing anything from Roky or the Elevators: (And, looking back, I see that I mentioned this record earlier in the thread, but I felt it bore repeating in response to the post that I quoted.)

  7. Yeah. I like them. Have you heard Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever? They should have a new EP coming out this year, too (after their 2016 EP was my #1 of the year). An Aussie band with elements of the NZ sound. Adore them and cannot wait for this one. First single here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMxrvIqqmlk
  8. Hopefully: Fumaça Preta (they've done one a year for the last couple of years) Salad Boys
  9. David Bowie Oh! You Pretty Things Moonage Daydream Queen Bitch Heroes Up the Hill Backwards Of course, I maintain the right to change these at any moment.
  10. Time to get a new thread rocking for the new year. If somebody could sticky this sucka.
  11. Judging by this list, you need to hear that Rolling Blackouts Coatal Fever that is my #1. You will like it.
  12. So, here goes nothing... • Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever | Talk Tight — Outstanding jangle pop from an Aussie band that channels the best of The Go Betweens and the Flying Nun bands. • Family Atlantica | Cosmic Unity — A sort of mish-mash of African styles jumbled together into one glorious whole. Feel-good music of the highest order. • David Bowie | Blackstar —We all know about this one. • Fumaça Preta | Impuros Fanáticos — I've waxed about this band so much that you all should know. But in case you missed it: Imagine Os Mutantes jamming with Captain Beefheart. This is pretty much what
  13. The Jam - Down In the Tube Station at Midnight
  14. Agreed. But you have to admit, if you are a bigger band, it's nice to get the recognition... no matter how ultimately meaningless.
