Had a great beer last night that I hadn't had before. And it was totally by accident. I ordered a Sam Smith's Nut Brown Ale, but the waitress messed up and brought me one of these instead: Totally delicious. Wonderful stuff. A brilliant mistake.

You have kids?

Yes. But I rarely have the time, energy, and/or money to go. Life is funny that way. EDIT: Plus, I live in the suburbs, not Chicago. So, getting in to the city is a little bit more of an effort.

Just finished writing my first song in almost 2 years! Yeah, it's been a long dry spell. When writer's block gets me, it gets me bad. Still needs some tweaks, lyrically (and maybe a couple of chord changes, too) but it's basically done. Big sigh of relief. Gonna talk to some of the guys and see if and when they are interested in getting into the studio to get the next tune on to the record.

My 16-year-old son is now in to her. Really wants to go see her next time she comes to Chicago. Of course, he doesn't want to go with his dad, but at the same time, he doesn't know a single person at his high school who has even heard of her, let alone is a fan.

All Jimi Hendrix tunes by Richard Lloyd (Television/Matthew Sweet). This one is just okay. I mean, the playing is outstanding, but the versions of the songs are all a little too reverent. Good. But not much more. Really, the best thing about it is the story that accompanies it, about Lloyd's personal relationship with Jimi, who was a friend of a friend, and the night that he got decked by him.

It is rare that I actually get to go to see a small club show, with a new artist that I am really excited about. And Cate is one of my absolute favorites. So... MAY 9 Cate Le Bon @ Schuba's, Chicago Anyone else going? You out there, Chicago?
