An "open rehearsal" of the Chicago Civic Orchestra (basically the CSO's minor league team), conducted by Boulez, playing a piece by Bartok. Hearing the news of Haskell Wexler's passing triggered a memory for me: Watching a screening of Wexler's Medium Cool at the Music Box Theater in Chicago back in 1995 or so. Of all people, Studs Terkel sat next to me, and he did not keep his mouth shut for the entire movie! He was on the crew (credited as "Our Man in Chicago") and commented on just about everything on screen: "Oh, hell!!! I remember that guy!!! What an asshole!" "Well, that was a bitch of a day!"
