  1. Oh yeah Bordeaux is good. I saw the game today and was really impressed. I am not happy Milan let Gourcuff go for such a small fee. He would have slotted right into Kaka's old spot once he moved on. Oh well. Not sure if they will win the Champions league, but they have a better shot than Lyon. A lot will ride on the draw for the next rounds.

Yes, Blanc is has had good results for the past few years, and if France do poorly at the World Cup I would not be surprised to see him take over the national team.

  2. I really like that video. It reminded me of my one game that I got to see in England (Manchester United - Lyon two years ago).

I am also a closet Spurs fan, but only because of Harry. I think he is my favorite manager. Also I hate Liverpool, so any one finishing fourth other than them would be great.

I am intrigued by the playoff plan. I think the one in the Netherlands works well, but maybe if they did it in England it should be just be between the 4 and 5 placed teams. It would make things interesting at the end of the season.

  3. I would rather take it myself, but I would not mind seeing Barca win again.

Any Arsenal fans? Thoughts on either goal? I think you guys really need a new goalkeeper. Not just based upon yesterday's two howlers, but on the season as a whole. Lots of goals that should have been saved.

Interesting note that it was the same referee as the France Ireland game.

  4. My mother and best friend have challenged me to give up alcohol for lent this year. Considering I am a 22 year old college student with St. Patrick's day,and two of my house mates birthday's during lent, and many people who know me consider me an alcoholic it should be fun. I will let you know how I am doing.

I'll end with a somewhat cute but somewhat disturbing story that I read in my local paper's Sunday magazine. Anyways, this parent wrote an article about how his 10 year old boy was asked out through IM from 4 10 year old girls for one specific girl not in the room. Then it went on to say that he typed "gtg" and thought about going out with this girl. He eventually logged back on and said "yes." Then he asked the girls "where he should take her?" They dimly replied "what?" So the boy decided to eat with her at his lunch table. He ended up sitting with his boys and they discussed football and he forgot that she was sitting there though at the other end of the table. It turns out that this boy's parents consider this girl their son's girlfriend. Although, they haven't spoken to each other once?! WTF Is this boy doomed to love via Google Chat. ( I have a 30 year old friend who did something like that while at work) Alright, I'm sick of writing questions here, but doesn't this seem so wrong and pushing communication back in all the wrong ways? I know that shyness is tough when you're a kid and hormones kick in, but doesn't this kind of teach kids that there's 0 work to put in to actually date someone through this way? It seems to promote that the idea of a girl/boyfriend is more important than actually being in a relationship.

    Thanks for reading...

“When simplicity of character and the sovereignty of ideas is broken up by the prevalence of secondary desires, the desire of riches, the desire of pleasure, the desire of power, the desire of praise, - and duplicity and falsehood take place of simplicity and truth, the power over nature as an interpreter of the will, is in a degree lost; new imagery ceases to be created, and old words are perverted to stand for things which are not; a paper currency is employed when there is no bullion in the vaults.” Ralph Waldo Emerson "Self Reliance" 1830!

My god I am only 21 and abhor being reachable 24 hours a day. I cannot imagine my grandparents or parents minds when receiving hourly updates from people. thank goodness none of them have facebook, or other crap. I hate texting and taking on the phone. can't we just speak face to face about important things?

I do use technology to a high degree, to talk to people a half a world away, but not in the same office or house, or when I could reach the same person in a reasonable time frame. Sometime I feel that technology has taken the human element out of communication. And that is not a good thing.

  6. Do you also stay away from newspapers, news programs, and news magazines?

Yes. I do not have tv or money to subscribe to a newspaper or magazines. I went the Internet and this is where I came. Most places do not have a straight answer, and instead have either dire warnings, or claims of utopia.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to start considering health care coverage a necessary cost to starting a small business. You're either bringing in enough to afford to give out health care coverage for all employees, or your employees are making a sum small enough that they qualify for government health care.

I understand that there are already few enough incentives for entrepreneurship to begin with (I do work at a small business), but health care coverage really does need to be a priority.

Some people do consider it a bad thing to consider health coverage as a necessary cost. Which is kind of the whole debate, right?

  7. I tend to stay away from these political threads and discussions in general because most of the time I do not think they change anyones mind. (I am a politics minor so explain that one.) Anyway, since the health care bill just passed the house I have one question. It requires people to have health insurance, that is what I got from the article on politico. So If i don't have health insurance do I get a ticket, or go to jail, just like with required car insurance? Or what is the punishment for individuals who choose not to have health insurance? I say choose assuming that people who cannot afford it now will enroll in the government plan, and many people's jobs will have plans for them. I am wondering about people who make a living for themselves at a small business whose payroll does not meet the minimum required to have a plan, but just do not want to spend money on insurance.

  8. It's also the bible of many school administrators--it's one of the latest shiny, trendy things to worship and mine for half-assed initiatives.

Funny you said that. My mom was on the local school board when she gave it to me to read. She then had the whole school administration read it, or maybe they read it first.

  9. My favorite teacher in high school recommended it to me so I read it all in one night, in the spirit of how it was written. I read it again this spring on the suggestion of a friend. I thought maybe it would get better as I got older. Also I live in Denver now, and come from Iowa so many of the places in the book are known to me. It did not help.

Another book, nonfiction, that I could not complete is "Good to Great"

  10. Not sure which videos you saw so I am not sure which songs to recommend. I would say I got hooked on "Stuck between stations" just the music though. I got a friend of mine to listen to them by playing "Sequestered in Memphis" even thought he hated Boys and Girls in America. I have never seen them live or looked them up on youtube, it might be a different experience. I think they are a good rock'n'roll band. Following the formula of sex drugs and rock'n'roll to sing about.
