  1.

Great picutes -- but that one of Jeff with the purple back is scarey -- the purple, his dark clothes, crazy black hair and blues eyues... looks like he's saying, "Good Evening .. welcome to the Vampire's Lair -- moo-aa ha ha ha haaaa...."

More of the fault of the subject, not the photographer. Great pictures.

  2. Kudos to drtam form the Lonely 1 w.Andrew Bird .. I'm stealing it for my opening song.

  3. Can't wait for NJ and Scranton (booked a room at the Clarion in Scranton -- anyone know it?).

Life has been just one little annoyance after another the past two weeks -- rocking out to some goods shows is just what the doctor ordered!

  4. So-- I'm gonna be 40 in May, and am a little obsessed. Any who, I've made no secret to family and friends that I want a surprise party. But, I have this secret fantasy that I have a friend who has a friend who has a friend who knows someone in the Wilco world, and they'll arrange to have JT surprise me at my surprise party with an acoustic serenade. Maybe California Stars.

It'll never happen, but I guess this proves that no matter how old you get, you can still have unrealistic day dreams. Sigh.

  5.

Love your "Do I Give a Damn" thing. Where'd you get, I need to send to a co-worker.

Any who, my list in no particular order, but Spiders is definitely Number 1. You can assume that they are all live and feature Nels. NOTE: I always wanted to start a forum about how I think Wilco are at their best when Nels, Jeff and Pat

are going at it ... with guitars, I should point out.

  6. So this friend whom I beginng to convert told me the other day that he was checking out Wilco on You Tube ... Bonneroo footage.

Would I get a comission on any Wilco related puchases this guys makes? Would be nice .. need a new car...

  7. The Outtasite video is fantastic. The worst Wilco video is Shot in the Arm. It features a lot of music video cliches and includes Jeff being held down / wheeled around in a hospital gurney. Good luck trying to find it on the interwebs though, it appears the Good Taste police have stricken it from the record.

That Shot in the Arm vidoe is just hideous -- and that dressing gown Jeff's wearing is waaayyy too short.

This one's great though -- so young, cute, and jovial.

  8. Having recently defended the use of Wilco's music in VW ads (by comparing them to Shakespeare, Rembrandt and Mozart who all had wealthy patrons) -- I was musing to myself at which point I would consider Wilco/Jeff Tweedy to be sell-outs.

Three points of no return might be:

    3) Any of them starring in an MTV reality show. ("Meet the Miller-Tweedys," a la the Osbournes.)

So, here's my synopsis for the "Meet the Miller-Tweedys"

Jeff and Spencer are a bungling team of schemers, often up to shenanigans, like trying to build a tree fort, but since neither is handy, it ends up looking like the BBQ on I Love Lucy after Lucy got to it.

Sue is the one with the common sense, ala Amy on Little Big World. She tries talking Jeff and Spencer out of building the tree fort. The just rolls her eyes and laughs with the final product. Then makes everyone hamburgers for a family picnic in the backyard.

Sam does say much, but his witty, insightful commentary on the family's shenanigans make him the break out star.

  9. Love it! You ought to copyright that idea and then get an animator to put together a pilot episode. When I was little and living the Philippines during the sunset of the Marcos regime in the early 80s, I used to watch "Beatles" cartoons on Saturday mornings. (Apparently, Imelda Marcos was a fan and once coerced the Beatles to meet with her by sending armed guards to "escort" them at gun point to her palace!) I knew all the lyrics to every Beatles song by age 9. Serious!

    1) Jeff Tweedy (or any of the band members) launching a "celebrity scent."

For some reason, I imagine a Tweedy scent smelling like either Downey or friend foods. But hey, as long as it doesn't smell like cigarettes, I'd buy it.
