  1. Since the web cast I’ve continued to put the 4-6-10 Boston show in heavy rotation at home. There’s a bit during the opener W(TS) - after the robovoice concludes the introductions and says “Ladies & Gentlemen, Wilco” - that little stand alone guitar riff just before the band kicks back in absolutely rocks. Wilco indeed!

Love that too!!! And "John Steer - at". Love the sense of humor!

  2. I love the slide guitar in Walken after "I was singing this song about you."

And the guitar and drum at the end of the song.

Screams in Dreamer in My Dreams

    Voice Crack in Via Chicago

    "Ahhhh Assassin Down the Avenue"

Emotion in "Let's let the world just take it's shape."

"If it's just yer heart, talkin..."

When all three guitars come together in Impossible Germany

"Ok alright, Ok alright" (popular one)

"I just do as I am told."

"I've no idea how this happens."

    Guitar that opens Sunken Treasure

Piano in I Am Trying to Break Your Heart

Weird sound in Company in My Back that sounds like the aliens in Signs. (Not a musician, so I don't know the correct terms for anything.)

    "Under Your Bended Knee"

"Waiting for you lips to break apart into words"

    "The rain applauds"

I could go on and on and on

  3. Of talkers in Montclair, luckily I was not near them. But there were these two 18 year old girls behind me, and the one kept screeching between each song. Rather annoying. But she said one of the funniest things I've ever heard. it was before the show started, and if she's reading this, than I;m sorry, but you're statement was just silly and made me giggle.

She said. "I DO NOT want to go to NYU."

Friend: "Did you get into NYU?"

Girl, "Well, they have not sent me any paperwork, but I DO NOT want to go to NYU."

Don't think she has to worry.

  4. Here's another idea: combine the lyrics of the two and create an entirely new song. "Monday, I'm in Love" (take that, Robert Smith). "Choo-Choo Charlie had a plenty good band, but he soaked so long he forgot his mother...he must be down in Pensacola with a jet lag palm. When I let go of your left arm tan...I'm always high. Get me out of a big-wheeled wagon..."

    Ugh. That's turrible.

Gotta give it to ya for trying.

  5. i am looking at tweedy's page on that site. what are half of these songs?

    from hell to breakfast?

    formerly hail centurion

    liquidation totale

    lyrical stance

i take it these are all songs he has written but were just never released?? terrible names...

Lyrical Stance is a song of pure beauty and truth -- with lines like, "I've got something in my pants. I've got something in MY pants, I've got something in my pants and it's a Lyrical stance."

This song is credited to Mc Caughey, Buck and Tweedy, and they are all credited with lead guitar. Funniest liner notes ever. At The Organ.

  6. i wonder if it's a coincidence that Peter plays w/ both the Minus 5 and the Venus 3.

The Venus 3 (Buck, McCaughety. Reiflin) is the Minus 5 (Buck, McCaughey, Reiflin, Ramberg) -- but minus John Ramberg. The V3 is Robyn Hitchcock's backing band. And they rock :rock

  7. what's everyone thinking in terms of a jim orourke appearance? I know he's in japan but I would love nothing more than a Loose Fur set!

How about the Minus 5? A "Down with Wilco" session... Peter Buck & Jeff Tweedy on same stage ... ahhhgghhaahhhhh (sound Homer Simpson would make if locked alone in a fully stocked donut shop.)

  8. Yes, I am afraid so. :ohwell

I thought that was an old lady with bad plastic surgery. Yikes.

I concur with many of the peeves mentioned above

People who make too much noise when they eat

Cell phone use in public, especially private conversations. I've heard a woman confess that she does not love her finance, another who was crying -- no wailing --cos her boyfriend left her, a couple fighting over who did not put water in the furnace -- dropping the f-bomb like crazy. And this one was on speaker phone. Have they no pride?

Marking every email as important -- when it's just a note to say "okay" or "thanks", the unnecessary reply all, and the email-followed-by-a-phone-call.

People who take too long at the salad bar.

Kids on those dang roller skate shows in crowded stores.

Cashiers who no longer tell you the price, just point at the display

Oh god -- liter, I forgot my biggest peeve. How can an adult think it's okay to drop an empty french fries box on the side walk -- and there's a garbage can a few feet away. I just don't get it.

  9. I had booked the HOJO in Williamstown, but found a cute bed and breakfast -- Bells Victorian -- in Adams,7 minutes away. I'm in the Cottage Room, and there's tea and cookies and waffels for breakfast! This may be my only summer trip, so I figured I'd do something different whoo-hoo!

Any who, I'mn cancelling my HOJO reservation, so there should be a room opening up
