  1. I wonder if she got the ranch. I was watching some video that she made that was clearly filmed there.

Pretty sure he moved out of the ranch....as far as ownership that is a different story.

  2. Neil made statement that he is no longer involved with the Bridge School Benefit...crazy 30 years of shows.  I would love to see a list of artists that have participated.  I bet it is an incredible list of pretty much everyone in Rock and Roll.

  3. Here is a bunch that are basically tribute acts:

    Skynyrd

    Blackfoot

    Kansas

    Foreigner

    Yes (2 going around now)

Eagles (guess they are doing a few shows)

    Dead & Co.

    Chicago

Pretty much 90% of the "classic rock" bands still touring

I remember when there was like 4 acts going around saying they were the platters

  4. Patterson & I are roughly the same vintage (he might be 2 years younger). Grew up on the same stuff with some geographic variances. I did see the real Lynyrd Skynyrd though at a young age!

Yeah but did you see molly hatchet

  5.

If you get a chance to see Midnight Oil, go. The show Wednesday was a stunner. They are playing at least as well as they were when they called it a day 15 years ago. I hope this will spur them to put out some new material after the tour. Outstanding show!

Patterson from DBT tweeted that he saw them as was fired up.

  6. Listening to the SUNY 71 show --- that Blue Sky is definitely something. It's great to hear Duane speaking after the tune ---- of course it goes into Stormy Monday -- which should be the theme song for the band.

Had my family over today - they were all cool with the Allman Brothers Band theme.

I think blue sky was only played live a few times with Duane. Only version I ever heard. Love it

  7. A lot of ridiculous things in that interview, but the idea that the Black Crowes would be inducted in the RnR Hall of Fame is the most laughable. I could see it happening as the list of great bands gets thinner. They were a decent derivative Southern rock band, that history will record as having no impact on music.

IMO They have a strong case (in comparison to other that have gotten in recently).  Plus:  Great 4 records to start career, one of the best live bands of the era, had some hits.   Minus:  Copy of the faces/stones, uneven recording career, not a lot of influence on other bands.

I do not think they have been given any consideration yet with the nomination committee yet, so we will watch to see if that changes.

For me I loved them when they were kicking it...always looked forward to the shows.

  8. I thought the show was fantastic. Maybe the best I've seen them & I started with the War tour. I saw them in 1987 but got too polluted & don't remember that one. I also saw a show right when Achtung came out that was excellent. Before it was a stadium thing. This one was special though. For a stadium show, the sound was amazing. Century Link is actually quite good for stadium acoustics as it was designed with that in mind. I was in the front part of the upper deck. From youtube clips, it seems like Seattle was much better than Vancouver. There were a lot of hassles getting in Vancouver & the band was delayed. + opening night jitters. They were on from the start in Seattle. New Year's & Bad gave me shivers down my spine. Side 2 of Joshua was stellar. The Eddie Vedder/Ben Harper appearance was cool. We get a lot of Eddie at shows in Seattle but this one wasn't intrusive in the least. Huge thumbs up. Go if you can for this tour.

Nice...I read about the Vedder and Mumford and Sons but they didnt talk about Ben H.

Bad needs to be in the setlist for good...so does All I want Is You (right around Joshua Tree time).

  9. Alex Lifeson (RUSH)

At least Rush plays for 2.5 - 3 hours.

The last tour they did was off the hook....started with current songs and went backwards through the years (even changed sets to reflect the specific tour).  One of the best shows I ever saw.

As far as Petty, I stopped seeing him years ago because of the lack of excitement and the same songs over and over and only plays like 90-100 min....for like $500.

on a side note...Paul M. coming to Miami and I looked at buying a ticket.  Worst Lowers are $500 and decent lowers are $850...this is face value.  At least they are taking out the Brokers and the resellers...but holy crap that is big $$$$.

  10. Did anyone catch Son Volt on CBS Saturday Morning? There's a regular segment at the end of the show called Saturday Sessions in which they have a musical guest. There's usually an interview segment followed by 2 or 3 songs. Not surprisingly, in this case there were 3 songs but no interview. They sounded good, though.

I only remember 2 songs. Will have to go back to the tape. The last 30 min of show is great. First the chef then the music. Always interesting artists. Only some get the interview. 50/50.

I didn't see it yet. I am still amazed Jay is doing such things.

I am amazed as well. Don't think I ever was an artist who looks so unhappy on stage.

  11. Nice suites! Tour opener too! Saw them at MSG recently new stuff sounds good live!

What a group.  Have seen them a handful of times and each time I go away in awe.

They are like 21st century Jazz artists...each on stage in a zone.

Love the double percussion and the bass in the middle...drives the whole thing.

Also, interesting that they barely play any of the "hits".

  12. Silver and Gold is 17 years old. and was created from old material

nobody who's close to or over 70 has ever made a great record.

That is True....Dylan Time out of Mind in 1997...he was almost 60 at the time.

Not sure how many great ones were made by a person (or group) over 40 years old.
