Just finished: NR: Killer Mormons

Sorry. My bad. I knew the Marlins had another 1B prospect and I thought Stanton was it, with him being so large and all. It's hard to keep up with all those young Marlins. Conor Jackson has been traded from Arizona to Oakland. And... Chipper Jones is meeting with the Braves brass today and he may announce his "possible" retirement at season's end.

Unless Houston's footing the bill I don't see Philly picking up Oswalt. They weren't willing to keep Lee at $9M this year and $15+M next year and beyond, so picking up a $16M pitcher doesn't seem plausible. They claim they traded Lee mostly to keep the prospect cupboard from being barren, so there's incentive to keep young players now. They're in a spot, so there may have to be a more creative trade necessary. Maybe a trade involving Werth for a starter, or something similar. Of course the easiest thing to do would be for the Phils to have J.C. Romero run down to GNC to pick up some performanc

Barry Bonds wins his latest appeal.

He does now.

Indians are up next for him. Well planned debut, I'd say. Let's not overlook the Marlins callup of their top prospect, 1B Mike Stanton, who seems very Evan Longoria-ish.

If the current Wilco were to re-record a Wilco album
The High Heat replied to choo-choo-charlie's topic in Just A Fan
I vote Wilco to re-record (The Album) with mostly different songs than the ones that are on it. -
Is Bryce Harper the $20M kid? He's got a damn quick swing. I don't know if I've seen a player be able to wait so long to swing at a pitch.

Yes, but now his ERA is jacked all the way up to 0.93. 25-27 wins this year, unless his arm falls off.

Trembley fired. Interim manager is Juan Samuel.
-
I am an O's fan (as best as one can be anyway). They have a good future and it'd be nice to have a manager who had a future as a big league guy. Other than being an interim soewhere else down the road, I don't think Trembley will ever get another full time big league gig. I do like him, but I just see him more of a bench coach at most. Hillman seems better at communicating and he could do alot with the talent coming up to Baltimore the next few years.
-
It appears O's manager Dave Trembley may get axed real soon. I'm putting in a vote for Trey Hillman to replace him (At least after an interim sits on for awhile, of course.).

No. They won't. The Brett incident was an appealed game based on a rule book interpretation. A play on the bases is a judgement call, which a game cannot be appealed upon. There were 28 batters in this game and that can't be erased from history. At best this will be an unifficial perfect game as far as fans & players are concerned. MLB has no method of undoing field judgement calls and has no interest in going down that road. Sometimes people get screwed and unfortunately that's the case here.

Has there ever been 3 perfect games in 1 season?

We could be more scientific if you'd like.

Ken Griffey, Jr. announces his immediate retirement. Farewell to one of my all time favorites and one of the game's true greats.
