  1. What a freakin show........My ears are still numb this morning.......Arrived in Worcester about 3 PM from Conn. and there were a few folks in lawn chairs bundled up waiting at the entrance......We went to an Irish Pub around the corner on Main St. for a few beers and food......One of our group volunteered to check out the line about 4:15......At that point there were only about 30-40 people waiting in line......The rest of us showed up at about 5 and waited an hour in the cold but it was well worth it......By the time the doors opened at 6 there must have been 150-200 in line......Made our way to the front of the stage and we stood right in the middle with about two rows of people in front of us.......Crowd was pretty friendly and filled with many Wilco fans.....Everest was pretty good.....They have some potential and reminded me a little of Wilco from the mid 90's.....Lead singer has a pretty good voice......Sounds a little like Richard Ashcroft of the Verve......They played about 40 minutes......They were well received.......Wilco was awesome......Via Chicago got the crowd going right from the get go......They were tight as I have seen them......Nels was spot on the whole set.....Not much banter from Jeff but they didn't have much time to BS.......Don't Forget the Flowers was the highlight for me.....Hadn't heard them play it live before.......Spiders was great live......Can't say I like the CD version much......They seemed to be having fun on the stage....Near the end of the set they were throwing towels around at each other......Hummingbird was great as well.....Two of the folks I went with had never seen Wilco live before and they were blown away......Wouldn't have minded if Everest didn't play and Wilco got another half hour to play......But what are you gonna do?.......Neil was fantastic......He seemed to have quite a bit of fun.......The audience was very receptive(understatement).......He ripped off about 4 new songs in the middle of his set that he had not played on this tour before......They were all car related and dealt with the oil companies ripping us off and the need for alternative energy sources.......Believe it or not they all rocked and were pretty catchy.......Highlights for me were Cowgirl in the Sand, Old Man, Cinnamon Girl and Back to the Country........His encore of A Day in The Life topped off one of the greates shows I've been to.......Oh yeah, I'm going to MSG on Tuesday as well.......

    Review:

Well to start: Parking was $15, and that sucked, the weather at show time was a balmy 13 degrees according to the thermometer on my car, and it was freaky cold with no one there!! I couldn't even give my expenisve extra away last night. No one wanted to go, and when I got there, no one was there!!! So no one to miracle it to either. Cold will do that!

No drinks allowed on the floor. I was allowed water with my diabetic braclet. It was a Filmore style concert and you had to sign a release waiver before they'd give you a braclet, name, rank, serial number, two sets of phone numbers, ID, etc. Stating if something happened down there the Palace was not liable. No bracelet no floor access. Good Lord Bill Davison, strap on a set, and let your city rock!

First off there were 2 opening bands Wilco/Everest

I walked in as Everst was playing, they just stated and I realized that without effort I was 4 rows of people back from the stage. No one at home. But by the time Wilco came on the place was a little more filled, but still so many empty seats and the floor was maybe 1/3 filled up.

No security but no one smoked, you'd get the occaisional wiff of something skunky but by in large it was a sober show for all.

The first band Everest was acceptable but nothing to write home about.

Wilco was a hoot, I remember now why they frustrate the hell out of me.

They are so tight, turn on a dime, get you in the groove, get your mojo working and boom, right turn Clyde! Still tight, tight, tight, and the guitarist Nels Cline is something else, not certain what, but his style speed and maiacal approach to the instrument, is something else. A not to be missed player for sure. Lacks some tonal body to his playing but technically he's at the top of the pack of the best there are. Nice!!!

Into the first round of songs, leader Jeff Tweedy just set his guitar down and sprinted off the stage. No one seemed alarmed or to notice much??

Well a bit later, Tweedy confided that he wasn't feeling well, a touch of the stomach flu!!! And he was playing!!!! Still putting on a blazing performance for certain.

Folks go see Wilco!!!!! Tell em Jeff sent ya!

  3. My wife, son, three brother-in-laws, one sister-in-law, four co-workers, and three teenagers at the high school where I teach and of course myself....To be exact......But the Schubert Theater sold out in minutes back in February, just minutes away......The right people know......Why spoil it?.......I can still get tickets whenever they play near where I live.....

  4. The sound quality is excellent......Much better than what I experienced that night at the concert from the 8th row......As has been mentioned by some in other posts the sound was pretty muddy that night.......I'd like a bootleg of this version.....

  5. "The D chord has a lot of sus4 shenanigans going on. Just listen to the recording. Most of the other chords, instead of going root-fifth-octave, will go root-fifth-third (or rather, 11th, aka octave+third), such as all instances of A, Bm, non-sung over Gs, Fs, and etc. Not really as necessary, but straight power chords are boring."

Not that musically inclined......Any chance you can tab out the chord shapes played throughout the song?........

  6. Bitch, bitch, bitch.

This is a helluva lot better than any of the four new songs that have been road-tested thus far. I agree with the poster who said he can't get it out of his head; it's a Summerteeth rocker! First one in years!

I'm not bitching.....I actually agree with you on the point about it being better than the new ones posted in the other thread.....

  7. Lame might have been too strong a word but they are not very catchy and I didn't care to hear them all the way through......I kinda knew where they were going......Maybe these will be the EP songs......I gave them another listen to be sure and they just are not that interesting musically.......I don't think they come close to SBS worst songs which by the way are really not that bad.......I feel "Either Way" is one of the weaker songs on SBS and I feel it blows all of these new ones away......Hey, they can't all be gems........
