  1. It seems that there is so much music being made and I know we all have our favorites. There is no way that some people won't get sadly overlooked as time passes. Do you ever think about what obscure/overlooked/underappreicated musicians/bands/artists you would love to turn someone on to. You know, like when you first discovered Nick Drake or Big Star back in the day.

I think I would love to hand my son the complete Hayden discography one day.

or the first 4 or 5 Richard Buckner records.

My (almost 4yr old) son's name is Hayden, he loves seeing his name on CDs.

He has really cool taste so far, his favorite songs are "White Winter Hymnal" by Fleet Foxes, and "Is There a Ghost in My House" by Band of Horses.

I agree, no matter what he's exposed to now, he will probably grow to think my music taste so lame.

I have turned a few friends & my little brother on to Wilco.

And I exchange CDs with a friend at work, I think we've both discovered some great stuff that way.

  2. We were in the 1st balcony and had a few people around us that sat through the whole show. Not sure how anyone could sit through that whole encore set, if that didn't get you moving, nothing can.

we were in the balcony too, it amazed me that everyone was sitting! the first show (of 5) that I've sat at.

I wanted to stand, but we had people behind us, so thought it would be rude. they stood for the encore though, so then I did.

  3. great great show! first time at Massey Hall.

I was meh about our seats at first (left balcony), but they were actually perfect. Sound was terrific!

I think I've seen Impossible Germany live 3 times now & it always amazes me. Nels is incredible.

Glad I got to hear Either Way, didn't realize it was so rare.

Wish I could make it tonight too!

  4. Maybe Ron Sexsmith, Kathleen Edwards, or some of the Broken Social Scene will be there. All I know for sure is that I'm going to be there :).

did you see them in Dec w/ Neil Young?

Hayden joined Everest for a few songs.

I just adore Hayden. Hayden & Wilco combo would just about be the best for me.

  5. My wife and I recently opened up Sky Blue Sky Sandwich Company Ltd. at 605 Bloor Street West (upper unit). We had plans for this for some time now and it happened that we were able to get the place ready and open up last week in time for the concerts at Massey Hall. We've had some great feedback on the food and some returning customers for the first week. However, not one person has mentioned anything to me about the sandwiches named after Wilco songs (salmon salad sandwich = mermaid avenue; pulled pork = kingpin) or the music that is being played.

One reason we went with the whole Wilco theme is because we love the atmosphere at Wilco concerts. I want that to carry over to the Sandwich Shop and was hoping to get some serious Wilco fans in there this week. So if you're in Toronto for the Wilco shows and would like some good quality sandwiches, come out and show my staff that my wife and I are not the only Wilco fans in Toronto.

p.s. We're closed Monday for Thanksgiving:)

    very cool!

we will certainly check it out next time we're in the area!

  6. I got married in Niagara Falls for the same reasons Jim cited, "it's really kitchy now, which is a lot of fun"

I love that he said that! No one ever gets it.

There were a few really cute moments, the mental pictures, and the beginning of Jim's speech at the Rehearsal.

The show is going downhill, but didn't everyone want to see Jim & Pam end up together?

My husband gets all shifty & anxious whenever Michael is being, well, Michael.

He covered his eyes too. & he had never seen that youtube video, so I had to show him.

    I lovelovelove Community!

I still laugh when I think of last week's episode when Abed's dad said "dreams are for sleeping!"

I love the little thing at the end with Abed & Troy. The Spanish rap was hilarious!

  7. How'd everyone like sunday night's episode? I'm glad they didn't turn the body parts into anything big. I feel like it would have been way too early in the season for him to get caught up in any mess like that.

I know, I wasn't even worried about it. I knew he must have gotten rid of them somehow.

I love Lundy & how weary Dexter is of him.

  8. Nothing will ever, ever compare to Arrested Development. Just sayin'. Nothing funnier came before it or will ever come after.

    exactly.

I watched Modern Family, it was fun. I agree, hip dad is too Michael Scott.

Watched Community too, first episode was hilarious.

  9. good job, keep at it!

I have been doing this for years!

When I have a new album to listen to, i put it on my ipod & get on the treadmill.

This is the only way I can get a good 30-45mins uninterupted by my kids a few times a week. I get to hear a whole album, start to finish (the way I like to listen to something new the first time), and I get some cardio too.

When I don't have something new to listen to I use the "genius" mix feature, I'm always so amazed at the playlists it makes for me.

  10. I think both of these perceptions might be a reflection of how Facebook-y your e-posse is. I get a few requests a month, and my News Feed is VERY active.

I have a dozen or so "friends" that clog my newsfeed, updates constantly: what they are drinking, what activities the kids are doing, what the dog just ate. I honestly don't care about what most of them are doing, & I assume they feel the same way about my updates.

I am post-college - I used to just use it as a tool to catch up with old friends and to see what my exboyfriends look like.

I'm an insurance Broker, I guess I could be using it as a networking tool.

    meh.

  11. I never tried myspace.

Facebook is ok, I did reunite with an old friend (after a falling out in college, now we chat almost everyday).

I have noticed that the numbers are dwindling though, people are not nearly as active as they were a few years ago.

Seems like no new people are using it, I haven't had a friend request in ages.

Anybody on twitter? I don't know of anyone who is on there, I just follow a few bands that I like.

  12. I need this to happen, I need to see Pavement.

my first experience was not great: May 1999, I had the worst migraine, but still insisted on going to the concert.

they opened with Summerbabe, then I spent the rest of the night puking in the bathroom from the migraine.
