  1. By this logic, everyone on Earth has to like everyone and everything else on Earth, or he's being a snob/xenophobe/racist/what have you. Now excuse me, but I have to go listen to this guy's new EP.
  2. There really isn't much logic in this post. I can guarantee you there are genres that Jeff doesn't like, just like Speed Racer can't connect with soft rock. There's nothing wrong with that. If Jeff hates Norwegian death metal, is he exhibiting genre snobbery? Not to mention the fact that you completely missed that SR is one of the ones defending You and I here.
  3. Well, depending on what article you read, Radiohead is recording/will soon be recording for their next album. For whatever that's worth. And, as said, studio time in January doesn't at all mean album in January. For all we know, this'll be the first session for a three years in the studio kind of album.
  4. Or...it's a particularly fruitful creative period. Hell, if they have confidence in whatever new stuff they have now, why should they wait to get the recording started?
  5. Exactly. And even if "recording session in January" meant "new album in January," how is that sad? I don't understand that at all. I'm a big believer in not forcing anything artistic. And I would wager a lot of money that Jeff is the same. So if they've set a studio date, odds are there's a good reason. Sheesh.
  6. They're not really giving up on it, though. They did a bunch of touring for it. If the time seems right to head back to the studio, and Jeff's got enough good songs to warrant doing so, then why shouldn't they?
  7. I would love to give every human on earth a flash drive containing Super Furry Animals' entire discography, b-sides included. Then people would understand what I mean when I gush wildly about SFA being the best band around.
  8. Having a name like Phonograph seems like a poorly planned decision from a marketing standpoint. If people have to weed through irrelevant results to even find your band's website, it's a problem.
  9. Now, obviously this is sad, but am I the only one that thinks the absurdity of it is hard to look past?
  10. Got this in the mail yesterday. Definitely should not have been so cheap. I've only listened to disc one, but the packaging alone is worth $12, easily.
  11. This makes no sense. It's dumb to compare to records by the same band? It's only logical that any artist's work is consistently compared to his previous work. They may be different albums, but people will compare Embryonic to many things, including TSB.
  12. I don't often do this, but with SFA, their greatest hits album might be a good place to start. Of course, by now it's a few albums out of date (and there are some absolute classics released since Songbook), so a more personal compilation is probably better. But really, pick an album, and odds are you'll find something. They were a hell of a band for me to fully discover, album by album.
  13. Yea...I caved and ordered this thing. I'm in the midst of a heavy jazz discovery phase, and I'm pretty much taking whatever CDs or LPs I can find cheap. I haven't dug too deep into Coltrane (I've only heard Love Supreme and Interstellar Space) but $13 for five loaded discs of (presumably) good jazz is pretty damn hard to pass up.
  14. Yes. Ironically enough, he's on the album Rings Around The World, on a track called Receptacle for the Respectable. RATW is a lot of people's favorite SFA album. It isn't mine, though. It's still a damn fine album, but it's really big if you know what I mean. They got signed by Sony, and got a buttload of money and studio time to record that one. And it shows. Not a bad thing at all, it's just the one I come back to least frequently. I'd probably recommend Guerilla next. It's kinda their OK Computer, in that it somewhat builds off of the previous album (Radiator), yet establishes
  15. I firmly believe that SFA is the most consistently creative and interesting band making music today. They've literally touched on just about every genre imaginable, and they've released nine great albums, and 16 years worth of terrific b-sides. There's really not much that isn't worth checking out. As you can tell, I pretty much worship those guys. But they're simultaneously an easy band to get into, and one that can throw a whole load of experimentation at you, at the same time. Radiator may be their best album, but at any point in time I've called any of the nine their best album.
  16. YES! Please tell me you have/plan to delve deeper into the Furries' catalogue?
  17. I put myself in this camp. I still think they're overrated, in that they aren't the absolute pinnacle of rock bands. But I cannot deny the great songs they made. I can, however, decide I don't want to listen to them often/ever.
  18. You have a point...but there is no best band of all time.
