E: Johnny B Goode; It's All Over Now Baby Blue

    Filler: Box of Rain

After the show they announce what Dead show it was... This was a show from Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) 6/27/85. I live in Saratoga, so that was pretty cool for me. These guys totally rock and put on a good show. You close your eyes and you feel like you are at an authentic Dead show... It is pretty amazing actually.

  2. Nothing of his newer material.

    Mystic Highway

    Joy of My Life

    Hot Rod Heart

These are all new tunes, I believe.  He totally rocks for his age.  Great guitar playing and his voice never changes.  He plays this gold Les Paul and totally rips it.  He told a funny story about playing after the Grateful Dead at Woodstock at 2:30am.  Apparently a lot of people were sitting/lying down and seemed to be falling asleep right when he hit the stage except for one guy way out in the crowd with his lighter going.  This was the inspiration for 'Long as I Can See the Light'

  3. Travelin' Band

    Ooby Dooby (Roy Orbison cover)

    Ramble Tamble

    Lookin' Out My Backdoor

    Run Through the Jungle

My Baby Left Me (Arthur Crudup cover)

    Who'll Stop the Rain

I Heard it Thorugh the Grapevine

Long as I can See the Light

    Centerfield

    Green River

    Susie Q

    Mystic Highway

    Joy of My Life

    Hot Rod Heart

    Born on the Bayou

    Keep on Chooglin'

    Midnight Special (Lead Belly cover)

    Rock and Roll Girls

Have You Ever Seen the Rain

Oh Pretty Woman (Roy Orbison cover)

    Hey Tonight

    Down on the Corner

The Old Man Down the Road

    Fortunate Son

    Encore:

    Bad Moon Rising

    Proud Mary

  4. I am traveling over in the UK and Europe for the month and while in London I was introduced to a musician named Wilko Johnson. He is very influential here and is said to have had a big influence on the English punk scene in the 70s. Knowing how knowledgable Jeff is regarding music, I wonder if his name had anything to do with the name of the band...

  5. Can't wait for the final wrap up. I just went through the list of guests and it is really amazing. They range from up and coming of avant-garde musicians to the hall of famiest musicians around.

    Nancy Sinatra

    Jackson Browne

    John Doe

    Bob Weir

    Beck

    Sean Lennon

    Warren Haynes

    Ian Hunter

    Richard Thompson

    Leslie Feist

    Garth Hudson

    My Morning Jacket

    Ryan Bingham

    Low

    Cibo Matto

    Lucius

    Richard Bowden

    Taras Prodaniuk

    Michael Jerome

    Roger Manning

    James Mastro

Peter Wolfe from J Geils too...

  6. Monday and Hoodoo Voodoo were not played. Long Black Veil was incredible and Chest Fever was amazing. I'm sure this is a very inspiring tour for Jeff and Wilco... Just think about who they have shared the stage with the last few weeks. This was really a once in a lifetime experience. I though Dylan sounded great and his band rocked. Overall a top notch night of music.

  7. I most recently bought the Saturday set from Solid Sound and it's terrific. Also would highly recommend the Red Rocks show and the Terminal 5 show in NYC.

Those are my two recommendations as well... And Cooperstown

  8. I love every album wilco releases. But each in a different way.

W(TA) in retrospect seems like a perfect bridge between SBS and TWL. I think sonically TWL blends the best elements from the 2 records that came before it by the current line up. I don't think it is really fair to judge the earlier records against the 07 to present albums because it was entirely a different line up.

I also love every album Wilco releases... They are by far my favorite band and there is never too much criticism from me toward them... Jeff and the boys have given me so much and I said to my wife tonight that no other band has spoken to me like Wilco... Sure there are some songs I don't like, but overall I can find the good in each album

  9. Correctamundo. Could happen, but highly unlikely.

I'm always thrilled when they break out Magazine Called Sunset at a show, but I know it's unlikely. Best to keep the expectations in check.

I got Magazine Called Sunset at my first Wilco show!

  10. What are people thinking for attendance? I've been to all three and I'm a bad guesser for crowd sizes... More crowded, yes, but I didn't find it too bad even with two young kids under 6... We took them back to hotel with mother-in-law well before the Wilco sets started but had them with us during day, which was fun! I'm thinking 5,000???

  11. "Alex Chilton" (which I still think would have been excellent, of course).

Oh, sorry I was not clear.  It was Sean Rowe, not Mulcahy, and he finished with "1952 Vincent Black Lightning".

.  That is a gorgeous bit of guitar work in that song, especially at the end there.  Looking forward to hearing Richard Thompson perform it at Americanarama.

I was introduced to early Fleetwood Mac by an old friend and particularly love "Do You Give a Damn For Me".  I will look for Bare Trees!  Thanks for the kind tip.

That Richard Thompson cover by Sean Rowe was incredible. I used to see him 'back in the day' at Gaffney's in Saratoga Springs, NY where I live...

  12. I can't believe I saw Tommy Stinson play with Wilco while they covered "Color Me Impressed." What?  :blink

Regardless of the varying opinions of the all-cover show, John Hodgeman "hosting," etc., I think it's cool that Wilco continues to try to do something interesting with the festival. When you decide to venture to Mass MoCA, you're choosing to going through a fair amount of trouble to make it happen. It isn't an easy place to get to, and finding lodging has become increasingly difficult. It seems like once you've committed to attending Solid Sound, you've also committed to participating in the band's vision of art and entertainment for the weekend. It doesn't mean you're going to love all of it, but you're along for the ride. It seems like seem people are kind of pissed off about this or that, but that suggests you're a dissatisfied customer. In reality, I think we're all part of the experience. If we don't like it, we can decide to no longer participate. Or we can decide to participate again anyway because being part of the experience is satisfying in all sorts of ways. I don't think anyone actually has a problem with differing opinions, but when the complaints are aired in a way that suggests you've been denied something you deserve or are entitled to, well...it's off-putting.

My view of Friday night? Color me impressed.

Nicely said and I agree 100%... I was looking forward to the set and I loved it more than I thought I would... I can't stop watching the

YouTube clips and my wife thinks I'm crazy... To each their own and c'est la vie... Satisfied and impressed all around

  13. I love how the official setlist on twitter and facebook says that this ITMWLY was Glenn's retirement from standing on his drum stool in the rocker pose before the song starts... It was funny how Tweedy talked about it that night

  14. This weekend was my 10th and 11th time seeing them (8th and 9th for my wife), but it still just didn't impress. Then again, nothing is likely to beat Easter in Providence a couple of years ago.

I was at that Easter show at Lupo's and it was ridiculous! Top 3 wilco shows for me out of 30. My buddy and I got back to the hotel after that show and were kicking the chair over in the room, etc... We were all fired up!
