  1. Like I said in another thread. I've given everything he's done an honest listen but after a long while it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I find him predictable in the most obscure ways.

I would expect him to have his solo record called "Blunderbuss" and I'd expect him to have a song called "16 Saltine Crackers"... I dunno what I dont like about it. But I dont.

    :D

  2. There's nothing to come at you about. It's your opinion. What does "rock-godesque" mean. That's a bad thing, right? To me, "Blunderbuss" is anything but predicatble. Of course, you'd have to listen to it first to decide if what I'm saying is true.

rock godesque is a cool thing, I mean it by he's got that mystique that all the older rock dudes had in the 70's. They collected weird stuff and were just a little different than what was 'normal' and were still pretty popular. I'll have to listen to the record when i get a chance. But everything he's done down to the way he talks had just left a bad taste in my mouth.

He got good guitar tone in the White Stripes, though

  3. Jack White has fallen flat for me the last few years... Like he seems so predictable to me. Blunderbuss is something I would expect him to name his solo record. He keeps that rock-god esque thing going and thats cool. But I've just thought he's become very tired to me. I have no interest in this solo record

    meh. come at me.

  4. Yeah, same happened to me, specifically with the song Remember the Mountain Bed. That was kind of "our" song and the first Wilco show we went together they played that and it was pretty awesome.

Same here. I always think of her when I hear that song. Similar experience- I waited in line for our first Wilco show and they played that song at soundcheck. My girlfriend at the time was off with her friends while I held our spot in line. She broke my heart shortly after.

    Fuck.

  5. I go to shows by myself all the time actually. Saw Wilco back in September by myself, I get wicked bummed that I have to drive there, grab a bite, see the show, and drive all the way home all by myself... But I still have a ton of fun because it's something I WANT to do.

Having said that, the first time I saw Wilco was with an ex-girlfriend... (I refer to her as my Vietnam. Sort of speaks for itself) and I saw them again a year later by myself. There was a little hole there, but I enjoyed it nonetheless because it's my favorite band.

  6. I saw Brad Barr open for The Gene Ween Band back in '08 and thought it was one of the best solo performers I'd ever seen. I looked him up and found the Barr Brothers before they even released their album but i was absolutely hooked on the two songs they had on their website.

Jump up to Memorial 2010 when my band opened for Land of Talk who Andrew was playing drums for at the time. I asked him when the Barr Brothers record would be done and his face lit up and he handed me an unreleased copy.

Since then I've seen em about 3 times and had some good conversations with the dudes. I really love their approach to music and am expecting big things!

  7. South Church? Is that the same as the Stone Church???

One of my favorite bands (Thanks to Gravity) is from Portsmouth and I saw them at the Stone Church once (cozy venue, good beer)...

I'm not sure... it was just called "south church"

They didnt have beer I dont think.

But it was an amazing show! They let people come on stage whenever they wanted to play instruments. Got on for the last song and played bass guitar on Bird on a Wire by Leonard Cohen!

    Amazing.

I'm seeing John K Samson tomorrow night !!!!!!!
