  1. Hawk Harrelson is a horrible announcer. Time for him to retire.

I saw that the game is at one, but the TV listing also indicated it was in the evening as well. Not sure what the real time is. It could be a double header?

    LouieB

Hawk Harrelson wore a golfers glove to a game in late 60s and thus the origin of the batting glove.

Or so I read a fess years back ...

  2. The Replacements and Dinosaur Jr!

as some of you know, this is a free show in a small club (cap 525) and the demand for tickets was insane. The Replacements decided to have a little contest and give away some list spots (not sure how many) to people who either wrote a ~50 word essay or sent in a drawing or photo as to why they should be selected.

so i got to thinking and w/ my wife, we hatched this idea, sent in w/ the message of "it's been a rough week." She won!11148680_10153352677370992_5223319277306

Congrats on gaining a great spot, alas you will not be joining the small sea of humanity. perhaps our paths will cross at tomorrow's

Waterboys Show across the river at the Wilbur

  3. I've been front row a couple times for Tweedy/Wilco, but the one show that is going to be forever in my mind as the best show I have ever seen/been at, and had amazing seat was Paul McCartney in Nashville this past fall.

3 rows from the stage. I made eye contact with a Beatle.

Pretty much never gonna top that unless I one day end up somehow singing with Jeff...

Just go to see Tweedy at Berklee you'll kill it
  4. so that means i'll see you at next Monday's Replacements/Dinosaur Jr show?

Yes I will be there confirmed last night at Speedy Ortiz* whom I liked, but seemed a little short for a headliner.

Then again I'm not a music reviewer, I'll just say it was a good evening.

  5. it's been sold out for a while now.

a lot of people already thought about it ;)

    Too funny

you are not the only individual that has creditability to gain admission to sold out shows in Boston // Cambridge of course if I had a photo badge it would be cheaper for me So good for

    you !

I've read about them here mostly All good reviews

But sitting on the fence at the moment..

Wilco on the other hand ... ; )

  6. Leonard Nemoy passed away today according to news sources. He was 83

    He originally hailed from Boston.

I saw him shopping in Boston a few yrs ago, and said hello while he was downtown with friends.

So many memories my fave episode was The Trouble with Tribbles

    RIP Leonard Nemoy

  7. Nice. I didn't know she was still around, actually. I picked up Screamin' for My Supper at a used cd store years ago with never having heard her and was impressed. I think I owned Leave the Light On for a spell, too. Have fun.

She was fantastic packed house place was jumping and so was band.

She's in NY next, if she's around check her & band out.

  8. "Hoedown" by Emerson, Lake & Palmer - summer of 1974 at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh, PA.

A great opener - they used what they called a "quadrophonic sound system" - additional speakers were set at the back of the venue.

Actually, my first concert was John Denver in 1972 at the ISU Mini-dome in Pocatello, Idaho. While I do remember the Boons Farm wine and how I thought it was neat that he did almost all of the concert solo, no song stands out in memory.

    ELP, however was incredible.

Wow ELP before Brain Salad Surgey must have been Great

Saw Keith Emerson a few yrs ago .. Well worth seeing if you enjoyed ELP

And Boones Farm Woa that's a blast from the past
