Paul Weller last night in Boston.

Saw TP three times - once with Dylan in 86 (Dylan was much worse in the late 80s/early 90s in concert - he was unintelligible in the early years of the Neverending Tour), once on the Let Me Up (I've Had Enough) tour in 87(?), and once on the 89 tour with The Replacements opening (I was stoked to see The Replacements for the first time at that one). The 87 show was by far the best TP show of the three.

I'll be listening to "Pack Up the Plantation" later today. RIP TP.
First time I saw him was in 86 on tour with Dylan. He did an acoustic version of "The Waiting" and "Breakdown" that was fantastic.
I saw him on that tour as well. He was fantastic. I thought that time period was his best.

I agree - You Are My Face as an opener is a winner. And that's a great encore they got in Marfa (though I know some folks would rather swap out Jesus, etc.):
Random Name Generator
Jesus, etc.

Can't say I love Lorde, but I keep it on the radio when I hear it. And I hear it a lot, with 3 teenage girls at home.
Pre-1980 Hall and Oates is a guilty pleasure. And I second the Def Leppard, Pop Todd.

Good grief, that is a lot for one year. I'm lucky if I do my one job well and get one side of my house painted in a year.

Side With The Seeds - yes!
Whole Love - yes!
Christ For President - and yes!Sounds like it was a great show at the Arvest Bank Theatre at The Midland (that is a crack up of a name - I am still chuckling).

That is a killer set list. This
Radio King
Country Disappeared
Lost Loveis about as good as it gets in a Jeff solo show.

Dolphin fan here. I expect another year of overpaid players underperforming.

^^^You pretty much summed up why I do not listen to U2 anymore.

This has great possibilities. I'll be surprised if it does not win a Grammy, and I have not heard a lick of it.

Not a crisis, but an opportunity. Makes 2018 a year of possibilities. Wonder what each band member will do? Could be a good year to catch the Autumn Defense, a Tweedy show or two, or my new favorite, Quindar.

This is a hell of a piece. Brings into blinding focus the awful reality of the racism behind Trump's election.
I have been thinking about this for several months now: "It does not take much to imagine another politician, wiser in the ways of Washington and better schooled in the methodology of governance—and now liberated from the pretense of antiracist civility—doing a much more effective job than Trump."

Not exactly sure which songs I have and have not seen. I do know that I have not seen, and would love to see, Say You Miss Me and Pieholden Suite.
So after Solid Sound, I am down to Pieholden Suite. Not super optimistic that I'll ever get that one.

Ouch. RIP.

The amount of rain that has/is/will fall in SE Texas is hard to wrap my brain around. 40-50 inches of rain? Did not know it was possible.

That was a great read. Thank you for sharing it.
Last week, we took one daughter to start her freshman year at college. This week, we will take her twin sister. No sadness here - they are ready to go, and that is something to celebrate.
Laurie Lindeen's piece, however, definitely made me sad.

Justin Thomas won the PGA Championship today. Sergio Garcia, Brooks Koepka, and Jordan Spieth won the other three majors this year. All four winners have six letters in their first name and six letters in their last name.
Crazy coincidence. Or another sign of the apocalypse.

Interesting idea.
