No it wasn't The Scientists or Green River but thanks folks. I've looked all through the Sub Pop artists and releases, so I'm starting to think even that scrap of information was off; I give up.
-
Unfortunately, no.

I had this CD from Subpop back in the early nineties. I don't even know if it was good or not; I think I was actually a little freaked out by it and now that has me curious. The only thing I remember is that it was recorded in some kind of antique echo chamber. The cover might have been greenish. Anyone? Thanks in advance if you know.

The local newspaper The Transcript put up an article about MOCA's summer lineup; there's not really any new information about the festival but there are some details about the art.

There's one of those...what are they called? Smokers stations? There's one of those weird, plastic things in front of the entrance to the museum. I smoke out front. There's lots of places to sit. We'll all have wristbands so I don't think going in and out would be an issue. I'm not sure on the art but the Sol LeWitt exhibit apparently will be up until 2033.

There's a good deal of lobbying on MOCA's Facebook page: MOCA Facebook There's a comment from MOCA; they say the lineup will be announced later in the season, so we may have a while to wait but they also say there will be bands other than Wilco and their side projects.

I would love to see James Kochalka there. It's not even that I'm as much a fan of his music (although the live shows must be fun) as his comics but he'd be a great personality to have on site and would probably add a little something for the families. Arlo's close by.

Fred Armisen? It's a festival of art, music and comedy.

Sorry, I might be dense. Are you saying it's obvious who the boy is or commenting on continuity? Not kidding though, the notion of a god-like kid is scary to me. His second scene may have been my most horrified, Lost moment.

The "mystery boy" really creeped me out.

As I said, I don't fish often but I do like taking pictures. Don't forget downtown. N.A. is full of great, old architecture and interesting street scenes thicker in the valley and thinning out into neighborhoods as the hills get steep. If you frame your shot just right and make it B & W, you can take a picture that could be mistaken as coming from anywhere from the 1950s-70s. (I should write for the tourism commission...if there is one)

I'm not much of a fisherman but Savoy and then Windsor are most popular with people I know who are. Savoy and Clarksburg are more rugged and woodsy than Windsor. Double A-Rons right, I can't imagine biking that road down and up Florida Mountain (Savoy). Especially on a big weekend when there's traffic coming in that's not used to managing the curves.

I watched a lot of the retrospective but I missed out. I saw it when it originally aired and loved it. I wonder if it's on youtube or anywhere?

They have always sold beer and wine at the concerts and outdoor movies I've attended; I don't think the Festival will be any different but I haven't heard anything specifically about it. They would be crazy not to. There's also a restaurant on campus, Gramercy Bistro (upscale). It's a new location, but they have always had a bar. I'd be psyched to see a Magic Hat tent.

I'm a Kris Kristofferson fan, so I enjoyed seeing him in it. And Robert Sean Leonard did a good job but I thought it was pretentious and not a very good movie, in all honesty.

Or, also on the Vermont tip but way cheaper, the Readsboroinn, more famous than known. About 30-40 minutes to MOCA.
-
Agreed. You blink and you're in Vermont or maybe New York. Other than my Dad telling me it was famous, I don't know much but try this place: Four Chimneys. It's on the pricey side.

My Crosley sounds as good or better than any other player I've had. I believe they make one now that will convert records tracks to MP3s and burn onto CD. That's amazing, I have a few records I love, that the rise of the digital did not.
-
It's not. Neither is HOJOs. It would be a long walk. Really? Not as bad as I thought.
-
I don't think you'll get bedbugs. I stayed there once years ago under different ownership when I was living with my parents and really needed a "getaway".
-
If you're driving in North Adams and you blink, sometimes you end up in Vermont: Pine Hollow More camping 28-30 minutes from MOCA.
-
You wont regret it. The locals are friendly.

Windsor Lake Campground. Try this number: 413 662 3198. I got an answering machine but the message says they are taking reservations and will call you back. As I said, it is quite a hike and North Adams has steep hills but it's possible if your determined, healthy and don't want to be bothered with a car. I'll list a longer but easier path to MOCA soon. Best to everyone when tickets go on sale.
