Second Sydney show added on 3 April.
-
April should be nice - starting to cool down (won't be any 40+ days), but not cold yet (having said that 'cold' in Sydney and Melbourne is anything under 15). The opera house would be an amazing venue too, unfortunately I just booked my flights back from Bluesfest, so I don't think I can justify flying back up to Sydney, still three shows isn't too bad.

Plus West Coast Blues 'n' Roots Festival on 24 March. Which could allow for a Brisbane show on the 25th, although I can't see them adding another Sydney show given that would mean three nights in a row in at least two different cities a fair way away from each other.
-
Can still get some good seats - third row if you're happy to be at the end of the row, or middle of the lower level if you want to be centre.

Second Melbourne show announced, and cryptic hints of at least one more show to come - http://www.fasterlouder.com.au/news/local/34264/Wilco-announce-second-Melbourne-sideshow

I've stuck this up on my blog (link in sig) if anyone else wants this. Also, the lineup for Saturday night at Bluesfest now runs - Wilco -> Iggy and the Stooges -> Robert Plant. I'm thinking I might have to travel up there.

Last Friday on their facebook page they said: Hang in there Sydneysiders, it's a comin. Surely it can't be too far away. Still lots of Melbourne tickets left, surely thats a good reason to do both?

Australia is notorious for high concert ticket prices. Part of it is that its a long way away, and you can't play as many shows. But part of it is that we just get ripped off. Bob Dylan in 2010 cost me $175, Radiohead are only $130, Soundgarden were $130, Roger Daltrey's cancelled show was $150... You get the idea

Second row. I hoped they'd sell out fast, which would surely guarantee a second show. Not there yet, but they seem to be going steadily (no premiums left) I've got a recording of the Wellington show if you're interested.

Lots of people who could have joined in with, and he went for doing Don't Let it Bring You Down with Axl Rose. I guess thats Neil.

Some info here (including seating plans) - http://www.artscentremelbourne.com.au/discover/venues/hamer-hall.aspx Only been there once but it seemed like an OK venue (would have preferred they play the Palais). I'd go for the balcony if you want a good view, or stalls if you want to be close. Having said that, there wasn't anywhere that would be too bad.

...or not. This is what Love Police actually said (amongst a long presser): Wilco have been invited back to perform at the 2013 instalment of Byron Bay’s historic Bluesfest – where they last tore up the stage in 2008 – and while they’re in the country they’re going to play a headline show of their own to placate (well.. at least some of ..) their ever-expanding Aussie fanbase. The sensational WILCO have announced shows at Byron Bay’s Bluesfest & Melbourne’s Hamer Hall. It is fair to assume they may be playing another show around that time. Stick with us, and we will let you know real s

The FasterLouder article says Love Police hinted 'at least one' more show will be added. The actual Love Police comments are a bit vague, but there should be a few more. Given the tour will only be a few weeks, I can't imagine them having gaps of a few days between shows, so I think its safe to say at least two more shows will be added (one between Melbourne and Bluesfest, and one between Bluesfest and Wellington). FWIW my bet is on the tour being similar to their others - 2 Melb, 2 Syd, one Brisbane, one Auck, one Wellington. I hope so anyway because I've already hit my boss up about taking

They're playing their second Bluesfest slot on April 1. They'd want April 4 off I suspect, given that, with the time change, it takes 6 hours to get to NZ. So only two days off (maximum three). Looks like a good spot for the Brisbane sideshow. If they play two shows in Melb/Syd again they could do Apr 2+3, but even then there isn't a guarantee that they would be the Melbourne shows (Sydney would be closer, not that it matters much since they'll be flying). Anyway, the point is I wouldn't assume that you'll miss both Melbourne shows just yet.
-
Second lineup announcement includes Mavis Staples playing on the same day as Wilco's second appearance. Hopefully she'll open for them at the sideshows and/or they'll guest in each others sets.

Just heard I Might in a little cafe in Luang Prabang in Laos. Only place I've heard western music so far.

I vividly recall seeing something where Wilco said they were planning on touring both Ireland and Australia this year. Given the Irish tour part I'm assuming this was a while back. Does anyone know where this interview was, or am I making it up?

Not sure where to put this (or if anyone else has already put it up), but Bill Fay is releasing a new album, including a cover of Jesus, etc. Should be interesting. http://www.twentyfourbit.com/2012/05/bill-fay-announces-new-album/

They played a song I requested, but it was an in person request so probably not the same. At the same show someone yelled a request from the crowd and Jeff mentioned having looked over the setlist from the previous show in the area (3 years previously) and not playing the song that night because it had been played last time they were there. I suspect there are a bunch of factors that go into the setlist, the online requests are probably one, but not the only one.

Australia is still waiting for its Whole Love shows, so no new album till then! Also, the Fragile Family Tree and Singles Collection bootlegs do a good job of pulling together OOP and hard to find material, like All Over the Place
-
Not quite the same thing, although its a good second-best. For one, with the actual setlist you get to see if anything was added or removed. Plus, most of the time the setlists from setlist.fm have been put there by whoever grabbed the setlist at teh show.
-
I've had a lot of success getting setlists (although I've never tried to get them signed). In my experience your best bet is to stand by the sound/lighting desk during the show so that as soon as its over you can ask for a setlist. There are more of them onstage, but there are also going to be more people there (usually more hardcore fans too) and you'll have to wait till the roadies come on until you can get one. If you want to increase your chances ask the sound/light person before the show if you can have the setlist. I don't usually bother doing this, but I have missed out a couple of t

Sounds interesting, whats on it?

Surprised no one else uses smart playlists. I have one each for a few of my favourite artists - basically everything Wilco related with a 5 star rating that hasn't been played in a month or two (so once it gets played the song disappears from the playlist and is replaced by something else). I find it a good way to listen since it means tracks I like from albums I don't often listen to (or that only feature one Wilco track) pop up.
