I guess we learned last night who the real villain is, the Liberal Media. The are so obviously supporting Clinton. And hey did you see all of those gotcha questions they asked of the poor GOP hopefuls.
Take question for example:
Obviously out there to make Cruz look bad. Ask him a question of substance on his record. I am so glad, instead of answering he went after the question. Shows real leadership to attack the question rather than answer something that is tough.
Cruz is a joke. But I take issue with that question too. It's clearly leading and it's intention is to provoke a reaction, which it got. A better way to phrase it would have been: "Why do you oppose this compromise and what would you offer as a solution to this looming problem as a way to show how can you solve something that concerns many Americans?" Or something to that effect.

For me it's the lack of insight he has for any sport he calls. Growing up and listening to his dad call a game, Jack always added something special with his description and insight. Last night Joe gave us this enlightening tidbit in a key moment of the game.
"'this is when the game of baseball is at it's best: when you've got a guy on the mound with a ball in his hand, and a guy at the plate with a bat in his hand."
Uh... Joe, that is Baseball! It's almost like he tries to be poetic with his call but ends up sounding like a douch bag!
True. But every broadcaster has moments like that. Jim Nantz does this all the time. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
To me, a play-by-play guy needs to merely describe what he sees and otherwise stay out of the way. The main criticism I would have of Joe Buck would be that sometimes he talks too much. But I generally have no problem with him. Even in 2011 when "his" Cardinals beat the Rangers.

Got her double EP and listened to it the other day. It's okay.

It's a lot better than "okay."

I think the main announcing for the game last night was horrible, but the guys who were on the other feed who filled in while the main feed was out were way way better.
Meanwhile I only made it into the 12th inning before hitting the sack. Go KC.

Only if you compare John Smoltz to Harold Reynolds. But Joe Buck is a much better play-by-play guy than Matt Vasgersian. And I have no issues with Tom Verducci either. I think he would benefit if you got Reynolds out of the way. Three-man booths are pretty much always terrible. And since Reynolds is so bad, it drags the others down with him.
Also, this was a great article following the Royals' ALCS win from Verducci: http://www.si.com/mlb/2015/10/24/royals-blue-jays-alcs-clinch-pennant

I've always found Joe Buck to be well-prepared and more than capable as a play-by-play announcer for both football and baseball. I've never really understood the hate for him.

I just don't understand how all these members of our well-regulated militias are going berserk.

Man don't be too quick and rush to a knee-jerk reaction to this tragedy. We should throw out and argue about some plans and solutions, but ultimately do nothing.
But what is ultimately sad in this entire thing, is that since the Oregon shooting last week, there have been several other shootings and gun deaths, which has not been reported in the media. Some of them gang related some of them not. I guess now the only way gun violence gets on the news is that it happens at a school.
It's absolutely ridiculous. And more news today...Texas Southern is on lockdown today after a shooting.

Interesting that out of the four games that have been played so far, no home team has won.
Is Houston the team to beat in the AL right now? They looked pretty good.
Not only that, but the home team has yet to even have a lead in a game.

See. This is what we need more of in this country. Vigilante justice. Firefights in parking lots. A much safer country for all!

Here's a chart detailing the number of children killed by guns. Over 30 in September alone.
If only these children had their own guns to defend themselves with.

Let's just start rounding up all the guns for all I care.

AL Manager of the Year is Jeff Banister. The Rangers had the worst record in baseball last year and were given up for dead after Darvish and Holland went down.

After a 1996 Mass Shooting, Australia Enacted Strict Gun Laws. It Hasn’t Had a Similar Massacre Since.
Old, but still good.
At the heart of the push was a massive buyback of more than 600,000 semi-automatic shotguns and rifles, or about one-fifth of all firearms in circulation in Australia. The country’s new gun laws prohibited private sales, required that all weapons be individually registered to their owners, and required that gun buyers present a “genuine reason” for needing each weapon at the time of the purchase. (Self-defense did not count.) In the wake of the tragedy, polls showed public support for these measures at upwards of 90 percent.
What happened next has been the subject of several academic studies. Violent crime and gun-related deaths did not come to an end in Australia, of course. But as the Washington Post’s Wonkblog pointed out in August, homicides by firearm plunged 59 percent between 1995 and 2006, with no corresponding increase in non-firearm-related homicides. The drop in suicides by gun was even steeper: 65 percent. Studies found a close correlation between the sharp declines and the gun buybacks. Robberies involving a firearm also dropped significantly. Meanwhile, home invasions did not increase, contrary to fears that firearm ownership is needed to deter such crimes. But here’s the most stunning statistic. In the decade before the Port Arthur massacre, there had been 11 mass shootings in the country. There hasn’t been a single one in Australia since.

A 10+ WAR season is pretty good, I guess. I just wish he played the game the "right" way.

And of course baseball is a team sport and you have to count the play of a team when talking about the performance of the a player, whether the team is good or bad. Arrieta is the product of some great defense and a handful of his wins etc, are the result of his team. But shouldn't that be part of it? When a guy is that dominant it lifts the team. They want to play hard, play better for him and the team. I know it is not is fault and Papelbon is a jerk, but an MVP candidate does not get choked by another teammate.
Also in the last 7 games Harper has only hit .261 with 1 RBI and no home runs. Yes the Nats are out of it, but an MVP candidate does not give up, even if they are out of it. Harper did try to put the team on his back and had some great numbers to push the Nats, but recently, he is lackluster at best.
Terrible argument. You're saying that Harper hitting a few points higher than league average over a 7-game period is evidence of him giving up? You may be right, he only has a 1.336 OPS in September.

so....you're a fluffer?
Ha! Had to look that one up.

I hate the question too, but I think it's because my job has very little to do with the type of person I am or what my true interests are. I never know if I'm in the majority or minority as a person who cares very little about his job.
I often say that the biggest mistake I have ever made in my life is my choice of college major, which was chosen as a means to funnel me towards a specific vocation that I usually regret every single day.

I'm curious which songs. It can't be Sirens. That song sounds like Eddie Vedder sold his soul to the devil to get on AC radio.
Amongst the Waves and Lightning Bolt are two that I can listen to. I don't hate Sirens, but it's nothing special.

"Hate" is a strong word, but those last two Pearl Jam albums really come close. There isn't a great song between them, and only 2-4 songs that I would actually listen to.
You're not the first person to say something like this. I don't know what happened?! The "Avocado" album was pretty amazing.
I agree. Pearl Jam is one of my favorites of theirs.

Safeco is the best. And I say that as a Rangers fan. I really liked Coors Field, so I'm surprised to see it low on lists. But it has been a while since I've been there. Minute Maid is a nice park, too.

I am a big fan of the NL Central. There is an old-schoolness in general with the teams in that division, and the teams have been playing some good baseball the past few years. I can get behind teams like the Pirates, Reds, Cubs, and Cardinals, especially when they are fun to watch.
Nobody should ever get behind the Cardinals.

I use "Elevator Operator" (the first song on her album) as a prime example of this. She paints such a vivid picture of the lives of these people in the song that I am left longing for more about their lives. I want the novelization of these people after this moment in time that she beautifully captures with humor and pathos. The same goes for "Depreston."
