Still not my favorite NIN album, but I was really itching to hear it today.
-
Finally picked up a real copy of this. I had an mp3 "copy" from my college days.
-
Wow! It sounded so good on paper. I've yet to hear it but I feel you on the Tobis-bit. I never was a fan of his production. I've been burnt on Pollard stuff for a while. I haven't picked up squat since FACE.
-
oooh, I hate you. I''ll take it out on your mother tonight, so it's all good. For serious though, how is it?
-
I can see how the gimmick could wear thin. I was thinking this morning when I was listening to it whilst driving about how long could they continue mining the same sort of territory and it still sounding fresh. I don't think it could be something they could keep up with forever or even another album. NP:

Mmm...mmmm...good

Man, fuck Pluto. When was the last time it ever did anything for me?

I really need to pick that album up. It's on my mental list, but I seem to always skip it over. I guess I'll wait until I find it used. NP: My brother got me into these guys. They use tapping instead of traditional drums. Pretty cool concept.

Still think this is a great album! Can't wait until their new one comes out in the spring. Wasn't there supposed to be a Jay Farrar/Anders Aarkers album out this fall. Has it leaked yet?

I agree. I'm not a huge Bright Eyes fan and take to listening to him every now and then. I think the artwork is horrible. The best has to be I'm Wide Awake... by a long shot.

Via Chicago Public Enemy # 1 I mean, Bright Eyes - Fevers & Mirrors

Favorite Elliott Smith album?
brianjeremy replied to Alastor The Great's topic in Someone Else's Song
either/or Basement xo Figure 8 Those are the only ones I have. I do love them though. I haven't been able to get enough of him lately. Been downloading all of his demos and such. I'm just too lazy to pick up his other albums unless I find them used. -

Yeah, not bad at all. When I heard that it wasn't going to be released in the states, that seemed to indicate that it would suck. Hwever, if the rest of the album is similar to this, it won't be too bad.

Could someone point me to some live Jon Brion recordings?
brianjeremy replied to MeGustaWilco's topic in Someone Else's Song
Hey, are those some Jon Brion live recordings hiding behind the couch? -
Can't get enough of this album lately.

FYI: Insound has pre-orders available for September 5th. $15.99 is better than the $24+ on amazon.

That's it.

Agreed. It's quite a nice tune. NP:

My first turntable was great. It was a smurfs turntable deal. It was pretty awesome. It was red solid red with a yellow top with smurf stickers and such on it. It was cool because it got a lot of play from our stones 45's.

Ditto. Picked it up tonight, eventhough it only got a 6.8 on pitchfork. I would have snatched it up it it had gotten a 7.1 or better a few weeks ago, but it was on sale, so a 6.8 was acceptable.

What portion of your musical collection features rap?
brianjeremy replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
.0067% if you count the Beastie Boys. 0% if you don't. Those numbers are accurate +/- .001%. -
C'mon now, p-fork isn't the devil. It's actually been pretty freaking good over the past two years. All of the media attention and some polish has really helped the p-fork become what it is today: a major source of influence in music. Who cares about if there are other blogs out there, blah, blah, blah. It's nice to hear about shit you wouldn't have otherwise.
