  1. I saw his setlist from either Saturday or Sunday's show. I'm a fairly knowledgeable Dylan fan and I didn't know three quarters of the tunes on that list.
  2. Me and the wife watched "Inside Llewyn Davis" last nite. My review is a firm 'meh". Compared to other Cohen Bros films, I was ready to bail half way thru. The Cohens have been tripping on their shoe laces the last decade or so (True Grit gets a pass).

That Gala apple from MI that I just ate was delicious.
  4. "The End of Faith-Religion, Terror and the Future of Reason" by S. Harris
  5. I'll share my GD related hoosegow story if you share yours!
  6. When I was a young boy, about 6, I had the misfortune to see Night of the Living Dead in its entirety. That event scarred me so thoroughly that I can not handle zombie movies at all so this cultural fascination with zombies the last decade or so has been a nightmare.

Anytime I have an opportunity to use the word "cahoots" I never pass it up.
  8. Saw "Snowpiercer" and "Gone Girl" over the weekend. Excellent stuff, Ben Affleck was barely a douche and the Gone Girls haircut in the final third of the flick was legendary.
  9. "Ironweed" by W. Kennedy. Those who liked Cannery Row may find this one enjoyable.
  10. Anyone read Matt Taibbii's new article in Rolling Stone about the cover up on Wall Street after the crash? I'm halfway thru it now. I will always hold it against Obama and his administration that they didn't prosecute Wall Streeters and the heads of the big banks for their crimes against America. Shit, we're worried about ISIL and ebola? We have financial terrorists living here and destroying America every single day.
  11. I used a lot of TDKs too. They worked just fine for me, YMMV.
  12. Havent heard it, reviews are not so hot. He's included a stripped down version with no orchestra and horns which is supposed to be much better.
  13. yeah there was a short article in the Sun Times about it yesterday
  14. My almost 3 hr daily commute via train and bus allows me plenty of time to read.
  15. I was born to pitch not catch.
  16. That would be weird because I don't swing that way.
  17. It was a free assessment. It was a pretty interesting conversation with a pleasant fellow but I'm not spending 500 bucks to shore up a mulberry tree that I hate and will probably cut down myself.
  18. The other evening there was a large meteor spotted over Chicago. Lots of people saw it, there was even video of it on youtube. Turns out it was a marketing event sponsored by Red Bull......there were three skydivers with flares strapped to their feet falling from the sky.
  19. Yesterday I had an arborist inspect my trees. Everybody will be pleased to know that the trees are in fine shape.
  20. Gave up on "Money". While it was funny in a British sort of way, the main character gave me the creeps. Started "Just Kids" by P. Smith
  21. FINALLY finished "River Horse". It was a slog to get through but I did like it. Started "Money" by M. Amis yesterday.
