  1. For the longest time, I had stupidly thought this album was overrated. I didn't get all of the love it gets, and specifically how people could rank it ahead of OKC and Kid A, but after hearing Jamie Cullum's incredibly boring cover of "High And Dry", I decided to toss this one on and compare the two songs and I came to the realization that this is a really good album. It's just kind of subtle when compared to the two that follow it. So, I guess thank you Jamie Cullum for releasing a terribly boring cover of a seriously good song and making me realize that the original is from a really good
  2. Yeah, I didn't like that one, it felt unfinished to me. But I love yours. Thats some seriously good stuff (maybe it's just because I like the "Believe/be leaving" part. Thats great!)
  3. It's still only 3 games, but damnit. 1 1/3 IP, 4 ER (and if the Marlins had been the home team today, it would be more like 9 ER, since he was not getting out of that inning alive today), no k's, 2 walks. Unacceptable. I may be overreacting, but it's ridiculous. The guy's been a bum his entire career, save for one good season, and we give up one of our top 10 prospects for him. It boggles the mind.
  4. :realmad I hope he hits 800, retires and comes out with a line of "Barry's Steriod Brews" and if they don't put him in the hall, fuck it, because he knows he's the best hitter of our generation, and if anyone wants to doubt it, that's their problem.
  5. Am I the only one who thinks of post-Katrina New Orleans when they hear Soul Singer? Just like our soul singer in the session band Wailed like an infant atop a white baby grand We'll need every sand bag and every man To save the soul singer in the session band Headlights or taillights, it's a flip of a coin I've been coming and going since the day I was born And I followed the bread crumbs but I never got home I grew old in an instant, now I'm all on my own Just like that soul singer in the session band Shredded to nothing beneath the microphone stand Saw the wave of the future through
  6. I absolutely cannot get over how much Jorge Julio sucks.
  7. Obligatory "The Marlins Have Fans?????" comment.
  8. FUCKING JORGE JULIO!111 I'm going to make the Marlins GM a T-Shirt that says: I traded a promising pitching prospect and all I got was the worst closer in the league. I really think most of the bullpen is going to be decent, but if Julio keeps getting important innings, we're not going to fare well. But we've got some really promising young arms there (Messenger, Owens, Lidstrom, Tankersley) who can all be above average relievers. If our bullpen can be league average and we get leage average productioin from De Aza in CF, I think this is a playoff team right now.

  10. I can't say I'm shocked they are skipping Florida, but it doesn't make alot of sense. Why not keep moving South when you're already at Atlanta? Oh well, maybe they'll get here next march so I can continue my streak of 4 years of Wilco/Tweedy in March (or maybe there'll be another LR show?)
  11. I thought I spotted Kidsmoke today at the Mall, but then I remembered she lives like 2,000 miles away.
  12. I was looking into making the Atlanta show on the drive down from Bonnaroo, but seeing as it's only a 2 hour drive from Tennessee to Atlanta, it's gonna be tough to convince my mom to make a 2 day detour to see the same band we drove 14 hours to see 2 days before...
  13. The scorers in Washington are doing everything they can to make Ryan Zimmerman look good. He's had 2 definite errors today, only been charged with one. There was also one yesterday or the day before that could've been an error...
  14. Uggla's was huge. But believe it or not, there have been further homers there. There are apparently 3 white seats in the upper deck that show where Frank Howard hit home runs when he played there, and one of them is almost dead center and about 10 rows up from Uggla's. The Marlins' on field correspondent guy went up there and showed where it is and it's ridiculous to think someone hits it that far. http://www.palmbeachpost.com/hp/content/lo...mbiet_0404.html The buzz at the brand-spanking new Solid Gold Palm Beach is that the ladies there are going to miss their Florida Marlins, now tha
  15. Boy, if we could play the Nationals all year we'd be set. That team is bad. We've hit 3 upper deck homers against them in this series. Good guys up 2-0 in the 2nd.
  16. He's gonna be our ace for a long time.
  17. That was great. The Marlins offense has been great! 18 runs in 2 games. Can't beat that.
  18. Bases jacked with no outs. Let's continue the good offense! 2-0 with no outs! A team as bad as the Nationals cannot afford to beat itself with 2 errors in the first inning. The ball hasn't left the infield yet. I hope it's just a one start thing and he's back. Hate to see a stud pitcher go down. This probably spells doom for the Cards. Goodbye repeat.
  19. I remember it well... Meanwhile, the Marlins and Mets blogs and message boards are abuzz with arguments over who is the superior player and who has the most potential, Hanley Ramirez or Jose Reyes. Reyes is faster, but Hanley's gonna be cranking out 30 homers a year within the next 5 years. I'm obviously biased, but I think the fact that Hanley reached the same level Reyes did last year in his first season speaks volumes for his potential. This, of course, leads to arguments of who has the better left infield. It is obviously the Marlins, and it's really not that close. (Imo and all t
  20. I agree that those first few could use some revamping. I'd love to hear him take on some of the songs in a live setting with new music. He's really matured in his arrangements. Probably doesn't hurt to have guys like M. Ward around, though. Yeah, I've got a friend who loves his lyrics but cannot stand his voice. It gets in the way. Though he's warmed up to his last few records (and Strangely enough, "When The President Talks To God" is his favorite song, complete with goatboy vocal stylings).
