The Dizzy Heights show here was also fantastic.  No special guests, but it was in a tiny venue (Le Poisson Rouge), and the entire thing was pure class.  It’s incredible to me that was 9 years ago, and was the last time I saw Neil!

I saw/heard the Glastonbury set and sorry but was not impressed with Neil’s grandson!  LOL. There comes a point where including everyone in the family gets to be ridiculous.  How old is Buddy?  7 or so?

I think 7 maybe a little younger for Buddy. I thought it was fun. I like how Neil has always been about family.

I was talking with my local Finn fan friend today and we realized the last time Neil played  in the NYC area was 9 years ago, in support of Dizzy Heights.  (Not including Fleetwood Mac, which I did not attend, as I am solidly in Camp Lindsey.)

The Dizzy Heights show here was fantastic. Eddie Vedder joined Neil for at least a few songs. Unfortunately not many concert tapes get out. I snag them when I see them. The only 1 I got for the current tour was Glastonbury & that was a short set. It does have Neil's grandson, so points for that. I think Neil has done ok for being kind of a cult guy. I read some stuff about him buying up cool, old mansions in LA. Probably flipping them. Think he's got some serious real estate back home, too. Not a dumb move. I like Lindsay, too but you can kind of see why the strife in FM might've got old with the other members. I met Lindsay once & he was cool. Kind of a long story. You can tell he's operating on different plane of the universe, haha (polite).

  3. PS: Crowded House have been selling well in the northwest regardless of the above. Neil has always done well around here going back to Split Enz days. There's a nice hard core following. I really hope they don't end up cancelling the tour.

That's two shows gone for me. I fully expect the show in Red Bank, NJ to be canceled due to low ticket sales. Shows in Ohio and Detroit have already been canceled. Last I looked a few weeks ago, those were selling poorly as well.

I'm sorry Elroy is injured, but color me just a little suspicious about the timing of this.

As we talked about I think the tour was overpriced. There are hardcore fans (like me, I paid Fleetwood Mac $ basically to see Neil & Mike Campbell) who will pay but the casual fan will hesitate. They might've been better off doing the summer wine & group hug circuit this summer. I'm hanging on to my tickets & hoping the delay isn't huge.

  5. Saw a nice albeit toned down & short set (1.5 hours) by Drive-by Truckers Saturday. It was a FREE show for a celebration of local farmers & sustainable farming. I think it was a nice payday for the band from the county government. Wasn't much publicity for the show so it wasn't very crowded. We got a good "People Who Died" to end the set which I had never actually seen them play live. That alone made it worth the effort.

It's a tricky thing. I'd love a complete left turn album, something that a new outside producer might introduce, but at this stage in their career it runs the risk of seeming very forced.

Not that Wilco would ever do something like this, but has anyone heard any of those newer Coldplay songs produced and co-written by Max Martin? It's embarrassing.

Coldplay are embarrassing. Liked the first record when it came out but that wore off quickly.

  7. Sadly not going to see MMJ tonight. By the time you pay service charge & parking it's over $100 at a pain in the ass venue. I saw an amazing show in October that was far less than that. I'll leave it at that. My entertainment budget is going to baseball tickets right now. I saw a great game yesterday where my Mariners vanquished the evil Yankees. Feel good about us breaking the 20+ year playoff drought this year. It's fun when the team doesn't suck! Yesterday they had a Pearl Jam Ten Club promotion where I got a decent main level seat & a cool t-shirt for $40. Not bad! There were over 43000 there. Not bad for a Wednesday afternoon. It was perfect day for a game. Low 70s, not raining. Very nice way to spend an afternoon.

  8. Despite all the controversy with the Springsteen tickets I managed to score decent seats on the verified fan sale in about 10 minutes yesterday. I got ADA seats 4 rows back behind the stage. Those seats are actually pretty good for Bruce as he spends a lot of time playing to the people behind the stage. I got out of it for $260 (service charge included) for the pair. It was just within the budget I set for myself so I'm happy. It was better than I thought I'd do.

The Who actually weren't too bad when i saw them recently.

Hate to say it but right now I'd rather use my limited entertainment dollars for baseball tickets. Really enjoy that this year. We've got a good team & budding superstar in Julio Rodriguez. It's been over 20 years since we've been in the playoffs. I'm still going to some shows but as far as the big ticket ones go I've got RHCP because Frusciante is back & Roger Waters. I got lucky on Waters & got really good inexpensive tickets before COVID. Everything else is smaller. I'll probably bite on Springsteen but only if I can get the under $100 tickets. It's becoming more of a challenge for me to go & I'm nervous about COVID due to other health issues. When I had it in June (pretty sure I caught it at the Dylan show) I narrowly avoided going to the hospital in an ambulance. Where I sit at the games there's lots of elbow room & the Mariners staff on the ground level are very good about taking care of me. They're also taking care of me for RHCP. Ticketbastard's non existent customer service haven't responded. I talked to Mariners staff when I was at the game & they're going to change my seats. When the tickets went on sale the system blew up when you tried to get ADA seats.

Back to the Who. I just don't care for Daltry's voice now & the orchestra thing is a marginal thrill for me at best. I've heard some tapes. I've seen the Who plenty & I'm going to leave it at that. Tickets were really expensive. If the Stones come back around, I'm going to pass on that too. It's not the Stones to me without Charlie.

the Roger Waters show was so good. highly recommended.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. I've been sitting on my tickets since before COVID. I was able to score some pretty good seats in the lower price realm so I hung onto them. I've never been disappointed by a show from him going back to the original Wall. Pros & Cons didn't play here but I did see an excellent show on the Radio KAOS tour. Pretty sure this will be the last chance with him.

  11. I really wish they would've stopped when Charlie died. Steve Jordan is a good drummer but he is wrong for the Stones. He doesn't swing. & Keith is losing it on guitar. His guitar signal is so processed that you really can't hear what he's actually playing. Ronnie is doing all of the heavy lifting on guitar these days. Some shows Mick actually sings, more he's shouting the whole show. Makes me sad. Maybe this tour will be it. I don't want them to embarrass themselves. Same for the Who.

Today I was going to buy a $35 ticket to see Demetri Martin in September.  Went to check out and the total was $55.  That’s a 57% increase in the ticket price due to fees.  That may be a record, as far as what I’ve come across.  I cancelled the sale.  Sorry Demetri.

The big villains' in that seem to be LiveNation & AXS. Smaller promoters have far more reasonable fees. Here in Seattle, the Crocodile Cafe reopened in a new location & aren't affiliated with the big boys. Service charges are more like $10 a ticket or less.

Glad to hear!  I’ve been wondering how you’ve been doing, so I’m happy you checked in.  It sounds like it wasn’t an easy bout of it for you though.

Thank you. I thought about going to the hospital a few times but gutted it out. This bout has me rethinking my concert strategy. I'll still go to a few shows but the bar is much higher now as to what I'll take a chance on. Except for RHCP, the summer is pretty clear. Things fire up in September. For instance, MMJ is playing soon & I'm going to skip it. I saw them in October & don't think they'll top that show given the venue they're playing soon.

  14. I went to 2 shows last week (Mike Campbell & Bob Dylan, Mike was awesome & Dylan was middling Bob. I've seen him play better & seen him play worse). Woke up feeling really sick this morning. Took a home COVID test & sure enough, I've got it. Shocked I've lasted this long without getting it. Called my doc & she phoned in a prescription for Paxlovid to my pharmacy which I picked up no contact. Luckily I had stocked up on groceries as I was supposed to have a round of chemo on Tuesday. This blows my schedule all to hell but I feel like crap.
