  1. I feel like I'm being racist to say that I didn't think Moonlight should have won.

I haven't seen Hacksaw Ridge or Fences, but I thought La La Land and Manchester By The Sea were better movies than Moonlight.

Actually, I thought Elle was the best movie of the year, simply because (at least for a while) I had a hard time understanding the lead character's motivations and reactions.

  2. Yeah. just let Mosaic do want they want to the Everglades.

It won't be a problem until all the canals sitting behind the half million dollar homes become so green & slimy with algae that folks won't want to lower their $100,000 boats down off their launches.

  3. Do you remember

        Your president Nixon?

The bills you have to pay?

        Or even yesterday?

    Young Americans - David Bowie

I don't think many Americans who were, are, or will be disturbed by Emperor Trump and his antics, will remember by 2018, be they conservative or liberal. I think we instead just become more numb.

  4. When will the Democrats start impeachment hearings?

Certainly if getting your dick sucked by an intern is an impeachable offense, there must be something Trump has done to begin the impeachment process. Sorry for the rough language, but people like Trump, Bush & Cheney make me ashamed to say I an American,

  5. Not sure if anyone has already mentioned these:

Great Atomic Power - Uncle Tupelo (The Louvin Brothers)

No Depression - Uncle Tupelo (The Carter Family)

Left In The Dark - Uncle Tupelo (The Vertebrats)

I Want To Destroy You - Uncle Tupelo (The Soft Boys)

I'm sure there are more, but that's all I can think off of the top of by head.

BTW, listen to Great Atomic Power and then follow it up with I Want To Destroy You. Its a great mix.

  6. On their live album, Welcome back My Friends, Greg Lake does a solo version of Lucky Man.

I listened to that today and when he sang the final line:"...and so he laid down and he died.".  that really got to me.

I had the pleasure of seeing ELP at their best, in 1974.

It seems to suck when your rock heroes start dying in their 60's from cancer, rather than dying from a drug overdose in their 20's.

  7. I used to think it was funny when I saw some white 16 year old driving around with his windows down singing/rapping along with Tupac until I thought, "well you used to do the same thing when you were 16" - it was just the Beatles or Stones covering Chuck Berry. Maybe I'm just getting to be an old curmudgeon.

  8. Pictures At An Exhibition - Emerson Lake & Palmer (Modest Mussorgsky)

Well, it almost was a cover.

I don't think Mussorgsky wrote a piece into the composition for playing feedback by balancing an organ on it's side.

But I did buy a orchestral version of this piece after listening  and loving ELP's album

  9. Long Tall Sally - The Beatles (Little Richard)

Roll Over Beethoven - The Beatles (Chuck Berry)

Rock and Roll Music - The Beatles (Chuck Berry)

I find it interesting that we didn't find it silly back then when white artists cover songs written, recorded, and performed by artists of color.

Can you imagine what it would have been like if we thought The Beatles in the early 60's sounded as silly as Vanilla Ice did in the early 90's?

  10. I love @Midnight and I'm even happier that it's on at 11:30 (at least for now).

Earlier this week, Ron Funches was on the show and the question was, (in honor of it being Jeff Foxworthy's birthday) to tell us some new "you might be a redneck" jokes.

Funches responded; "if some of your ancestors lynched some of my ancestors....you might be a redneck". :D
